    Dirty unfriendly mismanaged senior living

I live here and it's horrible - dirty, no activities or real meals, and people practically live like pigs. Management is unqualified, discriminatory, and refuses to resolve conflicts; staff and residents are unfriendly. It's basically one step above a nursing home, winter is miserable, I hate it and do not recommend it.

    Summary review

The reviews present a uniformly negative portrayal of Autumn Grove, with recurring themes indicating widespread dissatisfaction among residents or their acquaintances. The overall sentiment is strongly unfavorable: multiple reviewers characterize the facility as a "horrible place to live" and explicitly state they do not recommend it. Several comments express that residents "hate it here," which underscores a pervasive negative experience rather than isolated complaints.

Care quality and atmosphere: Reviewers imply that the living environment and the level of care are substandard. The characterization of the community as "one step above a nursing home" suggests an institutional, clinical atmosphere that may not meet expectations for a more homelike assisted living setting. Complaints about dirty conditions and statements that "people live like pigs here" point to lapses in cleanliness and routine upkeep, which directly affect quality of life and perceived care standards.

Staff and management: Management is a major and consistent concern. Reviews describe management as "unacceptable" and "unqualified," and cite discriminatory or unequal treatment of residents. Recurrent mention of a lack of conflict resolution indicates that interpersonal issues—whether between residents, staff, or management—are not being effectively addressed. The combination of perceived discrimination and poor administrative response contributes heavily to the negative tone of the reviews.

Facilities and cleanliness: Multiple reviewers specifically call out dirtiness and poor living conditions. Statements about residents living in unclean ways and general descriptors like "dirty place" suggest that housekeeping, communal area maintenance, and overall sanitation may be insufficient. Additionally, reviewers note that winter conditions are "not enjoyable," which could reference inadequate climate-related maintenance, heating, snow/ice management, or limited ability for residents to safely use outdoor spaces during colder months.

Dining and activities: The reviews explicitly mention an absence of meals and a lack of activities. "No meals" and "no activities" are direct and significant complaints that affect basic needs and opportunities for engagement. The lack of scheduled programming or social activities, combined with insufficient dining services, would materially reduce resident satisfaction and social well-being.

Resident experience and social environment: Social dynamics appear strained: reviewers describe an atmosphere of "drama," unfriendly interactions, and unequal treatment among residents. The requirement that residents must take out their own trash is cited as an inappropriate or burdensome expectation in this setting and may reflect inadequate staffing or poor service standards. These issues, together with unfriendly staff/resident reports, point to a communal environment that many reviewers find hostile or neglectful.

Patterns and notable concerns: The repetition of themes—management failures, discrimination, lack of basic services (meals, activities, housekeeping), and an unsanitary, institutional feel—indicates systemic problems rather than isolated incidents. Several comments emphasize both operational failures (trash duty, no meals, no activities) and cultural problems (drama, unequal treatment), suggesting that both policy/staffing and day-to-day culture contribute to the negative experiences.

In summary, the reviews of Autumn Grove consistently highlight severe deficiencies across management, services, cleanliness, and community life. The dominant impression is that the facility fails to provide a respectful, well-maintained, and engaging living environment. Prospective residents and their families should treat these complaints as significant red flags and seek clarifying information, documentation of corrective actions, and independent inspections or alternative options before making placement decisions.
