    Friendly active clean pet-friendly community

I moved into an independent-living apartment and I love it here. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, my apartment is clean and pet-friendly, and the garden and walking trail make for a peaceful, quiet setting with great neighbors. There are tons of activities (bingo, poker, bridge, clubs, potlucks, nights out), twice-weekly catered meals with wonderful food, monthly pet grooming, and the age eligibility was straightforward so it was easy to move in.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Lake Haven Apartment Homes is strongly positive, with residents emphasizing a friendly, well-run independent living community that supports an active, social lifestyle. Multiple reviewers praise the staff as friendly, accommodating and helpful, indicating consistent positive interactions with employees and management. Cleanliness and maintenance of the apartments and common areas are noted repeatedly, and the overall environment is described as quiet and peaceful — appealing to residents who value a calm living setting.

Facilities and amenities receive high marks. The property offers outdoor features such as a walking trail and garden space, contributing to residents’ quality of life and opportunities for low-impact exercise and relaxation. Inside, there is a dining area and clean private apartments; the community appears well-kept and comfortable. The community is explicitly pet-friendly and includes services like monthly pet grooming, which is a meaningful convenience for pet-owning residents and supports the idea that Lake Haven is attentive to lifestyle needs beyond just basic housing.

Dining and social life are prominent strengths in the reviews. Residents highlight frequent, varied food options including twice-weekly catered meals described as "wonderful," regular potlucks, and an active dining environment. Social programming is robust: reviewers mention a broad calendar of activities and clubs, including games and table-based hobbies such as bingo, poker and bridge, as well as nights out and other social gatherings. These offerings indicate an emphasis on engagement and community-building, enabling residents to maintain an active social life without leaving the property.

The reviews consistently portray a warm, neighborly community. People describe "great neighbors" and a "nice community," implying residents feel socially connected and supported. Activity variety — from exercise classes to clubs and special events — suggests management prioritizes both physical wellness and social engagement. The combination of volunteer/social activities and regular catered dining helps sustain a communal atmosphere and likely contributes to residents’ satisfaction.

Notable patterns and potential concerns: the community is explicitly independent living. While that is a positive for those seeking autonomy and private apartments, it is also an important limitation: Lake Haven may not provide assisted living or skilled nursing services for residents who need higher or medical care levels. The reviews also mention an "age eligibility policy," which some prospective residents or families may find restrictive depending on individual circumstances. Beyond those two points, reviewers do not raise consistent operational or service complaints; most comments focus on the many positive aspects of life at Lake Haven.

In summary, Lake Haven Apartment Homes is portrayed by reviewers as a clean, well-managed independent living community with friendly staff, strong social programming, good dining options, pet-friendly policies, and pleasant outdoor space. It appears particularly well suited for older adults seeking autonomy, social engagement, and a quiet, supportive neighborhood. Prospective residents should consider the age eligibility rules and the independent-living focus to ensure the community aligns with any current or anticipated care needs.

    About Lake Haven Apartment Homes

Lake Haven Apartment Homes sits in the South Shore neighborhood of Kemah, Texas, and has catered to folks aged 55 and over since 1999, and you'll see it's a one-story community with 144 units that offer different floorplans like 1 Bed/1 Bath, 2 Bed/1 Bath, 2 Bed/2 Bath, 3 Bed/2 Bath, and even 3 Bed/3 Bath, and every apartment comes with full-sized kitchens, spacious bathrooms, wall-to-wall carpeting, walk-in closets, extra storage, and either a patio or balcony so you can look out over the lake or the courtyard while you relax or read or maybe just get a little sun. The place is managed by Haven Communities with Amy Tilton serving as the accounts manager and Thomas Glover as the leasing manager, and you've got fiber optic cable service, satellite TV, laundry rooms in the building, tenant trash pickup right at your door, and online rent payment that lots of folks in the building use these days since it's easier for many.

Residents have access to assisted living, as well as independent living support, all with care options focused on active seniors who want to stay involved, and security comes from gated entries, access gates for cars, and all homes plus amenities are wheelchair accessible, so moving about the property's not tough for anyone, and there's a 24-hour fitness room, swimming pool that stays clean, a clubhouse for gatherings, a library for reading, a playground for when grandkids visit, and even a community garden for anyone who likes to keep their hands working in the dirt, with jogging and walking trails looping around a clear nearby lake that's nice for stretching your legs and maybe just watching birds go by.

Pets are allowed but with breed restrictions and a weight limit that tops out at 20 pounds for cats and dogs, and residents pay a one-time, non-refundable $250 pet fee, while covered parking keeps cars out of the sun and there are barbecue facilities so neighbors who like to grill will often bring out chairs and swap stories. People mention the wall-to-wall carpeting makes living spaces warm, and with updated amenities, you tend to see neighbors sitting together on patios in the evenings, and storage is easy since units have both walk-in closets and extra storage available, which makes moving in all your things less of a headache.

Lake Haven Apartment Homes sits near all sorts of shops, services, and local attractions in the South Shore area, making errands or grabbing a treat simple, and the variety of apartment choices lets singles, couples, or friends pick what suits them best, so whether you like quiet lake views, morning walks on safe paths, or just a comfortable place to stay put, the community's been doing all that for local seniors for over 25 years with open doors Monday through Saturday, giving folks plenty of chances to stop by or learn more online using their website's contact form. Oak Haven Apartment Homes at 19455 David Memorial Drive is their sister community, but at Lake Haven Apartment Homes, the care types stick to independent and assisted living for those aged 55 and up, and programs and features are designed to give a comfortable, friendly environment where folks can be as active or as relaxed as they please.
