Share Your Care - Barelas has served Albuquerque and surrounding areas since 1975, offering adult day services in a safe and supportive setting with a trained and dedicated staff, including a consulting nurse and pharmacist, who help create a stable and caring environment for adults with developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia, and the center, which operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, gives families much-needed respite while adults and seniors take part in a variety of structured activities, like arts and crafts, fitness groups, musical presentations, adapted sports, dances, and special skills classes, and there's also a focus on outings to places like museums, thrift stores, Burger King, the flea market, and community dances, all supported by transportation to and from the site.
The main site in Albuquerque at 2651 Pan American Freeway, Suite A, along with other sites in Rio Rancho, Gallup, and more, provides supervised care for over 200 people each year, with amenities such as nutritious meals and snacks, a shaded patio for outdoor programs, and rooms set up for social, recreational, and therapeutic activities, so people can enjoy summer games, trivia, yoga, massage, and group discussions in a space that feels secure and friendly, and if someone needs personal help with daily living, or help with health education, insurance, and health screenings, Share Your Care - Barelas can assist with that too.
Program Coordinator Valerie Dee, along with coordinators and directors at each location, tailors activities to different interests and abilities, arranging fitness classes, neighborhood walks, volunteer opportunities, celebrations, and even intergenerational programs, and the staff keeps up with clients' needs through ongoing care coordination, health monitoring, and individual or family support, making it easier for seniors and vulnerable adults to stay engaged and stimulated, while caregivers know their loved one's days have meaning and structure, and the center's CARF accreditation shows a commitment to high standards and continued support for both clients and their families.
