    Compassionate professional staff provided peace

I placed my mom here and it was the right decision. The staff were amazing-professional, compassionate, and supportive even through her passing. They provided daily aid (dressing, hair, makeup), handled meds and provided no-cost meds/depends/medical supplies, with weekly nurse and chaplain visits plus 24/7 nursing and in-home hospice when needed. I had peace of mind the whole time.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews for Harris Hospice are uniformly positive and emphasize high-quality, compassionate in-home hospice care. Multiple reviewers describe the experience as "wonderful" and highlight consistent, professional, and kind interactions with nursing staff and ancillary team members. The pattern across summaries is strong satisfaction with both clinical management and personal, dignity-preserving aspects of care.

Care quality and clinical support: Reviewers repeatedly note reliable clinical oversight, including medication management and on-call/around-the-clock nursing availability. Specific clinical touches mentioned are weekly nurse visits and 24/7 nursing coverage, which reviewers identify as reassuring and critical to their comfort with hospice care. The reviews credit Harris Hospice with handling medications and medical supplies directly, reducing logistical burdens for families.

Staff and emotional/spiritual supports: One of the most prominent themes is the compassion and professionalism of staff. Multiple summaries single out nurses as kind, wonderful, and attentive. Reviewers also appreciate the chaplain visiting weekly, indicating that spiritual or emotional support is an integrated part of the service. Several comments specifically note that staff were supportive during the loved one’s passing, conveying competence in end-of-life communication and bereavement-oriented care.

Personal care and comfort services: Beyond clinical tasks, reviewers emphasize personal, dignity-focused services: daily aid, dressing, hair styling, and makeup. These details suggest staff attend to both medical and personal grooming needs, which families valued. Another strong positive is the availability of no-cost items (medications, Depends/incontinence products, and other medical supplies), a concrete financial and logistical benefit mentioned by multiple reviewers.

Facilities, dining, activities, and management: The reviews provided are focused exclusively on in-home hospice services and do not comment on physical facilities, dining, or recreational activities—areas typically relevant for residential senior living but not applicable or not discussed here. Similarly, there is little explicit commentary about administrative management or billing beyond the praise for no-cost supplies and medication handling. Because the dataset is narrowly focused on hospice care delivered at home, absence of information about facilities, dining, and activities should be interpreted as outside the scope of these reviews rather than as a negative indication.

Notable patterns and limitations: The dominant pattern is consistent praise for compassionate, clinically competent in-home hospice with strong personal and spiritual supports. No negative themes or service complaints appear in the supplied summaries. That said, the sample may be subject to positivity bias (families who had exceptionally good experiences may be more likely to leave reviews). There is also limited granularity: details such as response time for urgent calls, staffing ratios, documentation/communication practices with families, billing clarity beyond ‘‘no-cost supplies,’' or the breadth of bereavement follow-up are not reported and would be useful for a fuller assessment.

Practical implications for prospective families: These reviews suggest Harris Hospice is a strong candidate when seeking compassionate, well-coordinated in-home hospice care with integrated spiritual support and concrete supply/medication assistance. Prospective families should verify specifics that aren’t covered in the reviews: scope and limits of the no-cost supplies, expected response times for urgent needs, how 24/7 nursing coverage is delivered (onsite vs. on-call), and details of bereavement services or family counseling. Asking for references and examples of care plans will help confirm that the highly praised aspects seen in these reviews align with a family’s specific needs.

    About Harris Hospice

Harris Hospice in Lewisville, TX has been providing hospice and palliative care since 2004, serving Collin, Dallas, Denton, Grayson, Kaufman, Rockwall, and North East Tarrant counties, and it's owned and run by former hospice nurses who wanted to improve hospice care in North Texas, so everything's focused on the comfort and dignity of patients and their families during the last part of life, and they really try to keep people at home or in the place they choose, like a nursing home or assisted living, where loved ones can be nearby and pain and symptoms can be managed to help patients stay as alert and comfortable as possible. The staff includes RN/Case Managers, Medical Directors, Medical Social Workers, Home Health Aides, Chaplains, Bereavement Counselors, Volunteers, and Therapists covering physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with pharmacy services and help with medical equipment and supplies, and the team offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support in a way that fits the unique needs of each patient. Harris Hospice gives people guidance and compassionate care when medicine can't cure the illness anymore, and most reviews say the staff help with medication, personal care, and even navigation during hard times. There's no inpatient facility, so all care is given at home or wherever the patient is living, and the organization prepares memorial websites, helps with funeral planning, and provides grief support when families want it. The care team collects and shares key information to make things less stressful for families, and services are available Monday through Sunday. Harris Hospice is a for-profit, freestanding program, Medicare and Medicaid Certified, and while it doesn't have extra recognition like Joint Commission or state hospice organization memberships, it does have a hospice analytics quality score of 73 out of 100 and has served a medium number of patients per day over the years. Even though they don't run specific veteran programs, pediatric care, or host faith-based programs, and there's less than 75% of their medical staff with certifications, patients and families can expect a consistent focus on keeping patients comfortable and supported in the place where they feel safest.
