    Good start, later unacceptable decline

I moved in and at first the manager, top RN and skilled team were ideal - thoughtful, respectful, genuinely loving caregivers who kept me well fed, hydrated and comfortable and helped with the transition. Over time things deteriorated: high staff turnover left unqualified, often unfriendly aides, meals were borderline healthy with unsanitary prep/cleanup, there were no activities and the furnishings were old and stained. I eventually moved out and cannot recommend this place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed and polarized. Several reviewers describe excellent, individualized care — praising a strong manager, a top RN, and attentive caregivers who create a family-like environment, respond to concerns, and facilitate transitions. At the same time, an equally strong thread of criticism highlights a decline in quality over time, staffing instability, hygiene and dining concerns, and deteriorating facilities. The result is inconsistent experiences: some families report exquisite care and full confidence in the staff, while others report conditions they would not recommend.

Care quality and staff: The reviews show two distinct experiences around caregiving. Positive accounts emphasize thoughtful, respectful, and loving care delivered by attentive caregivers and skilled clinical leadership (notably a top RN and an "ideal" manager). Those reviewers state residents were well fed, hydrated, and closely cared for. Conversely, critics cite high staff turnover and the presence of unqualified or inexperienced personnel, which they link to declining care standards. Several comments mention unfriendly staff and inconsistent responsiveness. Taken together, these points suggest that when experienced leadership and stable staff are present, care is highly rated, but staffing instability materially affects resident experience.

Facilities, activities, and environment: Multiple reviewers raise concerns about the physical environment and programming. Complaints include old, stained, and uncomfortable furnishings and a lack of activities for residents. These deficiencies contribute to a less engaging and less comfortable living environment for some residents. Positive reviews do describe a family-like, comforting atmosphere, indicating that the interpersonal environment can be strong even if the physical environment and activity offerings are lacking.

Dining and hygiene: Dining experiences are another clear area of divergence. Some reviewers explicitly state residents were well fed and properly hydrated. Others describe a "borderline" healthy diet and go further to allege unsanitary food preparation and cleanup practices. These conflicting reports point to variability in kitchen operations or oversight; for prospective families, food quality and kitchen hygiene appear to be an important and inconsistent factor.

Patterns and notable concerns: The phrase "initially nice, deteriorated over time" appears in the reviews and is supported by multiple comments about staff turnover and subsequent declines in quality. This suggests a temporal pattern for at least some residents: a positive early experience that worsened as staffing or management changed. The presence of both glowing and negative reviews indicates uneven performance across time shifts, staff teams, or particular units within the facility. Several reviewers noted residents ultimately moved out after declines, which is a concrete outcome tied to dissatisfaction.

Implications for prospective residents and families: The reviews point to a facility capable of delivering excellent, compassionate care when leadership and staffing are stable. However, there is a real risk of inconsistent quality linked to turnover, hygiene and dining issues, limited activities, and aging furnishings. Prospective families should investigate current staffing stability, ask about staff hiring/training and turnover rates, tour dining and food-service areas, request menus and sanitation practices, evaluate common areas and furnishings in person, and speak with current residents or families about recent trends. Checking recent inspection reports or complaint histories may also clarify whether documented issues align with the negative reports.

In summary, Prince of Peace Assisting Living elicits both strong praise for individualized, loving care under capable management and serious concerns about decline, inconsistency, and environmental/hygiene issues. The dominant themes are high variability in resident experience and a possible decline tied to staff turnover. Decisions about this facility should be informed by up-to-date, specific inquiries into staffing, management continuity, dining hygiene, activity programming, and the current physical condition of the residence.
