    Compassionate care in clean facility

I feel treated like family here - Roslyn and her team provide compassionate, personalized care and strong medical/physical support, including hospice when needed. The home is clean, warm and inviting with roomy updated private rooms, tasty home-cooked meals, activities (music, outings) and even an on-site dog; Bridgett, Linda and Stacey were especially attentive and professional. It's well-maintained and safe, though pricier than some options and I noticed an occasional odd smell and a slightly less "homey" feel at times. Overall, honest, caring staff and first-rate care - I'm glad I moved in.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, centered on high-quality, compassionate caregiving, a clean and attractive environment, and solid medical support. Multiple reviewers highlight the genuine, personalized attention residents receive — caregivers are described as sincere, compassionate, knowledgeable, and treating residents like family. Named staff members and the owner/manager (Roslyn) receive repeated praise for hands-on involvement, passion, and creating trusting relationships with residents and families. The facility is viewed as resident-centered, with staff happiness and visible warmth contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.

Care quality and medical support are consistently noted as strengths. Reviewers mention certified caregivers, excellent medical and physical care, and a doctor-on-call arrangement. There is explicit recognition of hospice support and sensitive end-of-life care in at least one account. The facility’s memory care focus is emphasized alongside independent and assisted living options, suggesting an ability to serve residents with varying needs. Transport services and proximity to physical therapy are also cited, indicating practical support for outside appointments and rehabilitation needs.

Facilities, cleanliness, and physical environment receive frequent commendation. The house and grounds are described as well-maintained, clean, and beautiful, with attention to detail and updated furniture. Rooms are often roomy, and accommodations include private and semi-private handicapped-equipped options. Housekeeping and laundry services are included. The presence of an on-site dog and an attractive dining aroma contribute to a homely, pleasant sensory environment. A lone but notable concern was an initial unpleasant smell mentioned by one reviewer; otherwise cleanliness and hygiene are repeatedly praised.

Dining and daily life are positive recurring themes. Meals are characterized as home-cooked, fresh (non-boxed), flavorful, and served three times daily with snacks. Reviewers emphasize the appealing aroma and quality of the food. Daily activities are varied and active: exercise, bingo, games, movies, music programs, birthday celebrations, one-on-one visits, and outings are all listed, which supports social engagement and individualized attention. The combination of group activities and personalized interactions appears to be a deliberate focus of the care model.

Cost and privacy are areas of mixed feedback to note. A few reviewers describe the facility as higher cost or expensive, while at least one reviewer explicitly called the cost reasonable; this indicates variability in perceived value against price. Semi-private rooms and shared bathrooms are part of the accommodation mix, and reviewers explicitly mentioned shared bathrooms and the reduced privacy inherent in semi-private arrangements as drawbacks. Families weighing options should confirm room configurations and associated costs to align expectations.

Patterns and caveats: nearly all reviews emphasize strong staff-resident connections, cleanliness, and high-quality meals, which form the core strengths of the facility. Areas to probe further based on the reviews include privacy (if semi-private rooms are under consideration), clarity on pricing and what is included, and any follow-up on the isolated reports of resident hospitalizations to understand context and frequency. Overall, the aggregated reviews paint a picture of a caring, well-managed, and clean facility with robust activity programming and medical supports, balanced by trade-offs in cost and some accommodation configurations.

About Matters of Senior Living Inc.

Matters of Senior Living Inc. sits in North Phoenix, Arizona, run by Roslyn Williams, who runs a tight ship and keeps careful watch over everything. The facility has a license from state or local governments and focuses on giving detailed, truthful reports, using Medicare and Medicaid data, license reviews, and background checks to stay transparent about care, citations, or any violations. The place holds ten licensed beds in a single-story, private home with wide hallways, updated furniture, a library, and fast Internet, offering both privacy and shared spaces. This small size lets residents and staff know each other well, so everyone can get a more personal level of care, whether they need a lot of help or can manage on their own. Seniors age 60 and older live here, with options like independent living for those who want freedom but still like having services available, assisted living for those needing more daily help such as with bathing, dressing, or getting to doctor appointments, and memory care when someone has Alzheimer's or other dementia and needs a safe space with structure and memory-support activities. There's also skilled nursing care round the clock if health needs get bigger, and continuing care so folks don't have to move out as their needs change.

The home has art classes, music sessions, gardening, book clubs, and group games or exercise. There's yoga and meditation for those who want it, outings to local theaters or church, movie nights, and even chef-prepared meals with snacks all day, taking on all the menu needs or dietary restrictions. Laundry, housekeeping, and linens are managed for everyone, and medicine reminders along with appointment scheduling are all part of the care. Wheelchair access is there, along with emergency alert systems, and the staff is present 24 hours a day, with a call system if someone needs help fast. Furnished rooms are available, but residents can add their own touches. The community tries to build a warm, respectful feeling, making sure nobody ever feels forgotten. Transportation is part of the deal, getting residents to doctors' visits and other local places as needed, and move-in options are sometimes available the day someone calls if there's an urgent need. Alongside its on-site daily care, the facility also runs programs for seniors in their own homes, which gives some flexibility if someone wants to stay put but needs a bit of help. Matters of Senior Living Inc. does get involved in civil and criminal lawsuits as part of its deep background checking and reporting process, something it believes adds to transparency for new residents. Some people call this kind of small, homey place an Adult Care Home, Adult Foster Home, or Assisted Living Group Home, and there are a few similar names in other states. It's known in Phoenix for running a reputable, loving environment with dignity and respect at the center, all while trying to make life less stressful and more enjoyable for every senior under its roof.
