    Resident very happy with care

I live here and I'm very happy with the care and staff - they're kind, responsive, and professional (on-site RN/LPNs, certified caregivers, quick call-button responses and regular check-ins). My apartment is spacious, clean, freshly painted and well-maintained with accessible features and balconies; weekly housekeeping/linen service is included. Meals are restaurant-style, varied and nourishing, and there are many daily activities (exercise, music, parties, library, gym, salon, courtyard with mountain views). Transportation, hospice services, safety systems (smartwatch/call system) and lots of social events are available. It's comfortable and friendly, though it can be pricey.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with consistent praise for the quality of care, the friendliness and responsiveness of staff, and the attractiveness and cleanliness of the community. Reviewers repeatedly note that Solterra at White Mountains is well-maintained and situated in a pleasant mountain setting; they describe the grounds, lobby and common areas as clean and nicely kept. The community is a three-story building with 141 apartments, and apartment sizes and layouts are frequently highlighted as a strength — examples cited include a spacious 980 sq ft unit with large kitchen/den and a larger two-bedroom, two-bath 1100 sq ft layout. Balconies, handicap-accessible features, and utilities included (in some packages) add to the convenience for residents.

Care quality and staff performance are among the most frequently mentioned positive themes. Multiple reviews emphasize on-site clinical coverage (RN and LPN staff), certified caregivers, hospice delivered with dignity, and outstanding caregiving in general. Staff are described as caring, friendly, helpful and responsive; specific operational strengths include quick call-button responses, daily check-ins, and an Executive Director who provides frequent updates and is easily reachable. Safety features such as a call system and a smartwatch safety device (noted as provided with no extra charge) further reinforce a theme of attentive resident oversight.

Dining is another prominent topic. Many reviewers praised the restaurant-style meals — frequent comments call the food very good, nourishing, and varied, with an attractive dining room and options for a la carte dining. There are, however, some nuances: a few reviewers noted variability in food quality attributed to multiple chefs, and an occasional slow dining service was reported. During pandemic conditions some meals were delivered, and dietary accommodations (for example, diabetes-friendly options) were available and appreciated. A small number of reviews mentioned that during tours they were unable to try the food, which limited the ability to assess it firsthand.

Activities and social life receive strong marks. The community offers a broad range of daily programming — exercise classes, bingo, entertainment, parties, cookouts, holiday celebrations, and special events like Oktoberfest were specifically mentioned. Amenities supporting engagement include a library, activity room, gym/exercise room, dance floor, piano and live musicians, courtyard, and salon. Reviewers often described the environment as homey and welcoming, noting that the community helps residents make friends and stay socially active. A few residents did request even more variety in activities, suggesting room to expand programming for some tastes.

Amenities and services include weekly housekeeping and laundry (sometimes noted as part of the package and sometimes offered for a fee depending on the arrangement), transportation for offsite activities, and transportation to doctor appointments (noted frequently but routinely identified as an extra cost). Pet-friendly walkways and on-site salon services add quality-of-life benefits. Several reviewers stressed that some optional services (extra cleaning, certain meals) may come at additional cost, and there are comments from prospective residents who found the pricing relatively high — while many describe pricing as reasonable, at least one comment labels it 'too expensive,' indicating variability in perceived value depending on individual budgets.

Patterns and minor concerns are limited but consistent: a few logistical or amenity-related drawbacks appear (a missing microwave in one unit, a den used instead of a second bedroom in another layout), and there is some variability in dining speed and occasional inconsistency in culinary quality. Transportation fees for medical appointments and charges for some services are the primary recurring cost-related concerns. Overall, however, the reviews paint a picture of a clean, well-run community with robust clinical coverage, warm and responsive staff, varied social programming, comfortable apartments, and generally very good dining — making Solterra at White Mountains a strongly recommended option for those seeking assisted living or apartment-style senior living in a mountain setting, with the caveat that prospective residents should verify which services are included versus fee-based and clarify dining and activity offerings during their visit.

The community has staff on-site day and night to help with daily activities, medication, and health monitoring, and they have a 24-hour call system in place. Each resident can live in a private room with a bathroom, and there's housekeeping and laundry done regularly. There are walking trails, gardens, patios, and places to sit and relax like ponds and community spaces, plus a library, movie nights, a beauty salon, and a barber. The community allows cats and dogs, and pets are welcome as part of daily life. The staff plans plenty of activities and field trips, and there's an arts room and spaces set up for games like pickleball and horseshoes.

Seniors have choices for their care, so they can move in if they want independence or need more support with tasks like bathing, dressing, or moving around. There's special help for those with dementia and Alzheimer's, so wandering and confusion are less likely, and there are full-time activity directors and memory care programs to help keep residents engaged. People who are caring for loved ones at home can get help, too, through services like respite care for when a caregiver needs a break or adult day care for daytime support. Home care's available, where trained aides can visit a senior's own house and provide non-medical help and companionship, and there's even a residential family care home for a smaller community setting. Long-term skilled nursing, hospice, and in-home health options are all part of the services offered. The community supports active living but also has skilled nursing and hospice care for those who need more medical support as health needs change. Summit Healthcare hospital nearby offers cardiac care, a surgery center, and a unit for seniors with cognitive challenges. Solterra At White Mountains One is managed by Solterra Companies and doesn't share awards or ratings for this location publicly, but does have an official website and contact form for questions.
