    Beautiful facility but concerning cleanliness

I loved the beautiful facility, superb location, excellent food, comfortable quarters, and the staff treated my dad like family - attentive and caring. But I was concerned by poor cleanliness, lingering smells, outdated areas, dusty storage and even an unstable chair, which made me worry about overall care quality.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews present a mixed but clear pattern: Foothills Adult Care Home receives strong, repeated praise for its staff and the personal care they provide, while several reviewers raise significant concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and the accuracy of promotional materials. The dominant sentiment centers on excellent interpersonal care and a welcoming, family-like atmosphere, but these positive elements are tempered by repeated reports of facility condition and sanitation issues that could affect resident comfort and safety.

Staff and care quality: Multiple reviews emphasize the staff as the facility's strongest asset. Reviewers use words and phrases such as "goes above and beyond," "attentive and caring," "treated dad like family," and "amazing staff," indicating consistent, heartfelt appreciation for the caregiving team. This suggests that day-to-day interactions, personal attention, and emotional support for residents are highly valued by families and visitors. Several reviewers explicitly recommend the facility based primarily on the quality of staff and how well residents are cared for.

Facilities, cleanliness, and maintenance: There is a clear contradiction in how reviewers describe the physical environment. Some call the property a "beautiful facility" with "comfortable living quarters," while a number of reviews cite problems that undermine that appearance: an unpleasant smell, descriptions of the facility as "outdated," reports of dust and an unorganized storage room, and direct statements that the facility is "unclean" and "needs sanitization." One mention of an "unstable kitchen chair" introduces a potential safety concern. These comments point to recurring issues with housekeeping, maintenance, and possibly infection-control practices. The mix of praise for aesthetics and simultaneous complaints about cleanliness suggests either inconsistent maintenance standards across the facility or recent declines in upkeep that contrast with earlier impressions.

Dining, location, and living quarters: Reviews specifically note "excellent food" and "comfortable living quarters," indicating that dining and resident rooms are strengths when they are in good order. The facility's location is described as "superb," which is likely a positive factor for families and visitors. However, since several reviews mention outdated facilities and inaccurate photos, prospective residents should be aware that the current state of dining and common areas may not always match promotional images or expectations set by marketing materials.

Management, organization, and transparency: Complaints about dusty/unorganized storage areas and inaccurate or outdated photos suggest organizational and transparency issues. Inaccurate photos can create mismatched expectations for families touring or researching the facility. Disorganized storage and cleanliness lapses point to possible deficiencies in operational oversight, housekeeping scheduling, or resource allocation for maintenance. While staff receive high marks for caregiving, these operational shortcomings may reflect a gap between frontline caregiving and behind-the-scenes facility management.

Notable patterns and implications: The strongest, most consistent positive theme is the quality of the staff — caring, attentive, and family-oriented treatment of residents. The most consistent negative themes are cleanliness, sanitation, and signs of facility aging or poor maintenance, plus at least one specific safety concern (unstable chair). Together, these patterns indicate that Foothills Adult Care Home may offer excellent personal care but has variable physical upkeep. Prospective residents and families will likely value the compassion and attention from staff, but they should also be aware of and investigate the complaints about cleanliness and maintenance before making a decision.

Conclusion: In summary, reviews portray Foothills Adult Care Home as a place with strong, compassionate staff and generally good food and living accommodations, situated in a desirable location. At the same time, there are repeated and substantive concerns about cleanliness, sanitation, facility age, organizational issues, and a few safety-related observations. The overall assessment is mixed-positive: excellent human care counterbalanced by facility and operational issues that deserve attention. Prospective families may wish to prioritize meeting staff and observing daily care while also inspecting cleanliness, maintenance practices, and validating that current photos accurately represent the facility's present condition.

    About Foothills Adult Care Home

Foothills Adult Care Home sits over on S Sandra Ave in Yuma, Arizona, and you'll notice right away it feels much more like a house than some big building, with up to ten residents, so things stay quieter and more comfortable, and people get to know each other. Staff help around the clock with bathing, dressing, bathroom needs, getting around, and things like insulin shots or moving a resident with two people if that's needed, plus they're set up for non-ambulatory care if someone's using a wheelchair or has trouble walking. It's a licensed assisted living and care home, approved for ALTCS/AHCCCS, and the folks working there are trained and certified, sometimes with lots of experience, and you'll spot nurses, aides, and even a physician or two so the actual care matches what someone really needs, not just what's convenient. There's memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, hospice for those farther along, and respite care for short stays, and the staff help with medication, personal hygiene, incontinence care, and making sure everyone's safe day and night.

Rooms are furnished and comfortable, and you get things you'd expect at home-an emergency alert system, a reading room, plenty of outdoor spots to relax, a hot tub, a wellness room, and a dedicated area for music or art. The main areas and outdoors are all wheelchair accessible, so getting around doesn't turn into a problem, and when you need a haircut or some grooming, a travelling hairdresser pops in. Meals are homemade and regular, mainly three dishes, and they handle special diets for things like diabetes or high blood pressure using quality food and ingredients, so people eat well for their condition. If someone needs a ride for appointments, errands, or going to church, the staff may help with that too, coordinating what makes sense.

Foothills Adult Care Home puts a lot of focus on keeping things calm and home-like, so people feel safe and not rushed, and you'll see plenty of scheduled activities like music therapy, animal visits, board games, outside trips, movie nights, wellness plans, and exercise programs, plus bigger community events some evenings. There's a move-in coordinator to help new folks feel less lost, and the main idea day in and day out is personal attention-making sure everyone gets help, stays as active as they can, enjoys some good food, and lives in a way that feels as normal as possible. The place aims to keep everyone comfortable, cared for, and treated with dignity, whether it's short-term respite or long-term stays, and you do see praise for the staff going above and beyond so people feel at home. Foothills Adult Care Home is recognized by Arizona as an adult care home and assisted living community, and it's known for providing care to people with memory problems as well as those who just need more support every day.
