    Good amenities, but safety concerns

I live here and have mixed feelings. The staff (Sandra Ashby among them) are professional, helpful, and maintenance is prompt; the house is well-equipped, the grounds, dog park and bike-friendly streets are pleasant with birds and rabbits, and monthly fees are reasonable. But management needs to change - lawn care is inconsistent, debris and open doors/windows around nearby abandoned houses create real safety concerns (I've seen frightening incidents involving a weapon), and residents are often pressured to fundraise or staff events. Great community of people, sketchy overall - proceed with caution.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is mixed, with clear and repeated praise for staff, unit maintenance responsiveness, community atmosphere, affordability, and certain on-site amenities, but also strong, recurring concerns about management, grounds upkeep, safety, and event operations. Several reviewers emphasize positive day-to-day experiences and recommend the community, while multiple others urge management changes and describe conditions that undermine residents' sense of security.

Staff and care-related observations are among the most consistently positive themes. Office personnel are described as professional and helpful, and at least one staff member, Sandra Ashby, receives specific praise. Unit-level maintenance is repeatedly noted as responsive, with repairs happening within the same week according to reviewers. This suggests that internal maintenance systems for residents' homes tend to function well and contribute to residents' satisfaction with living conditions. Reviewers also report a strong sense of community and friendly neighbors, with some calling it a great community of people.

Facilities and outdoor amenities receive both praise and criticism. Positive mentions include well-equipped housing units, a dog park, bike-friendly streets, pleasant surroundings with birds and rabbits, and generally clean neighboring streets. Affordability is also cited as a benefit, with reasonably priced monthly payments making the community attractive to some prospective residents. These features support a comfortable, active lifestyle for those who appreciate outdoors access and pet-friendly areas.

However, grounds maintenance and exterior upkeep appear to be inconsistent and a major source of dissatisfaction. Multiple reviewers report poor lawn care, debris left in yards, and neglected or abandoned houses nearby. Some accounts indicate that the grounds crew performs inconsistently, leaving areas unkempt. This contrasts with the positive internal maintenance reports and suggests a split between in-unit responsiveness and community-level groundskeeping.

Safety and management emerge as critical concerns. Although an on-site 24/7 security guard is reported, several reviews describe unsafe conditions tied to unsecured or open doors and windows of abandoned homes, which contribute to an overall sketchy feeling. One reviewer reported a serious and alarming incident involving a threatening individual described as a disgruntled, hatchet-wielding woman; this heightened safety concern is cited as 'scary' and illustrates that, for some residents, perceived or real violent threats have occurred. Multiple reviewers explicitly call for new management, linking leadership to failures in addressing grounds, security, and the presence of abandoned properties.

Activity staffing and fundraising are additional areas of complaint. Reviewers note reliance on residents, many of whom are seniors, to staff events and perform tasks at community functions. Related to this, there are repeated reports of perceived pressure or coercive efforts to solicit donations from residents to cover running costs or events. These practices are a source of frustration and create a sense that responsibilities or financial burdens are being shifted onto residents rather than handled by management and the community's administration.

Taken together, the reviews paint a picture of a community with considerable strengths in staff interactions, in-unit maintenance, affordability, and neighborhood atmosphere, but with significant weaknesses in management oversight, exterior maintenance, safety posture, and event administration. Prospective residents should weigh the strong personal and staff-level positives against the recurring concerns about grounds upkeep, nearby abandoned houses, security incidents, and the need for more accountable management. Current or prospective residents who prioritize responsive in-unit service, a friendly community, and affordability may find much to like, while those for whom consistent grounds maintenance and a strong, visibly proactive management presence on safety and community operations are critical may want to seek further clarification from leadership before committing.
