    Gorgeous facility, outstanding staff, activities

I moved my mom into Santianna and am very pleased. The brand-new, gorgeous facility and spacious, spotless studio feel luxurious, and the meals (Thanksgiving included) are outstanding. Staff - from Sales Director Melissa and Health Director Carri to the activities team led by Mollie - have been welcoming, professional and genuinely caring; maintenance and housekeeping are responsive. There are so many daily activities, great entertainment, pool/fitness options and a warm social atmosphere - I would happily recommend this beautiful community.

    Summary of reviews

Santianna Oakmont Signature Senior Living presents a noticeable contrast between its physical environment and several operational areas. The community is consistently described as new, attractive, and resort-like, with spacious, apartment-style residences, polished common areas, and a strong calendar of social and recreational amenities including a fitness center, pool, bocce and pickleball courts. Many families and residents praise the activities program and live entertainment; the activities team is repeatedly characterized as creative and professional, and scheduled programming appears to be a central strength that contributes to high resident engagement.

Clinical care and day-to-day staffing evoke mixed impressions. Numerous accounts describe caregiving staff as kind, attentive, and competent, and several families noted smooth admissions and supportive health leadership during transitions. At the same time, there are recurring operational concerns: inconsistent staffing levels, particularly following ownership changes, a high rate of employee turnover, and reports of understaffing in dining and care shifts. These personnel patterns have been associated with delays in responsiveness, occasional lapses in supervision, and at least some hospital transfers related to hydration and infection concerns. Memory-care resourcing was specifically highlighted as an area needing attention.

Dining is another area with divergent experiences. The facility is often praised for fine-dining presentation and some exceptional meals (holiday and special-event meals were called out positively), but families also report inconsistent food quality, cold or lukewarm entrees at times, and a limited selection of vegetarian and specialty options. Meal-service continuity and timing appear to be operational pain points tied to staffing and kitchen workflows.

The activities and lifestyle offerings are a clear strength: reviewers emphasize a rich calendar, professional entertainers, fitness and water classes, and strong social opportunities that make the community feel lively. For families prioritizing engagement and social programming, Santianna Oakmont scores highly. Maintenance and facility operations show a split as well: routine upkeep and cleanliness are generally praised, and some reviewers describe responsive maintenance assistance, yet there are notable infrastructure reliability gaps cited — leaking fixtures, appliance failures, and elevator outages are examples that suggest the need for more consistent facilities management.

Management and organizational stability are recurring themes. Several families described leadership turnover, an executive-director departure, and communication shortfalls — particularly around billing, deposits, and refund processes — that created frustration and diminished trust for some. Infection-control practices and outbreak management also drew criticism, with concerns about how infectious events were handled and communicated. Conversely, a number of reviewers credited specific directors and staff members for effective problem-solving, indicating that outcomes can vary by team and shift.

In summary, Santianna Oakmont offers a well-appointed, activity-rich environment with many examples of excellent staff–resident relationships and strong lifestyle programming. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against ongoing operational and management concerns: staffing consistency, dining reliability, facilities maintenance, infection-control practices, and administrative transparency. Those considering the community would be advised to ask targeted questions about current staffing ratios, menu accommodations, maintenance response times, recent leadership changes, and billing/refund policies to determine whether the facility’s operational trajectory aligns with their expectations and care needs.

About Santianna Oakmont Signature Senior Living

Santianna Oakmont Signature Senior Living sits on a hillside at 2560 Faraday Ave in the City Center neighborhood of Carlsbad, California, and it's part of the Oakmont Communities and Wellquest Living Community network, which runs several similar senior living communities under names like Oakmont of Concord and The Ivy at Wellington. This place calls itself a "Signature Senior Living" community and uses the term Vienna for its boutique-style memory care right next to the main building, and it offers different kinds of senior care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, continuing care, respite care, hospice, home health, and home care. People can rent apartments ranging from studio suites to two-bedroom units, and the designs focus on lots of space, kitchens or kitchenettes, and quality finishes, but there's no detailed list of every floor plan or building detail. Some apartments have kitchens with appliances, and the place allows pets.

Santianna has a swimming pool and a hot tub spa, which gives seniors a chance to stay active or relax, plus there are wellness and fitness programs including yoga and stretching. Services include things like daily housekeeping, laundry, linen service, dietary accommodations for a variety of nutrition needs like low salt, vegetarian, renal, or kosher diets, and chef-prepared meals served in a dining room, with guest meals available. There's a wellness center and a nurse always on staff, so help's always nearby, and personal care matches each resident's needs. The rent and care fees are all-inclusive, and payments can be made by check, while shared memory care starts at $5,395 plus care.

On the inside, there's a computer room for residents to use, and regular activities include games, hobbies, horticultural projects, music, plus educational and creative programs that encourage staying physically and socially active-some focus on music, literature, and tabletop games. The community has a friendly atmosphere, with scenic hillside views out over the town below, and common spaces are designed to let people connect with one another. Some features aim to support LGBTQ individuals, and the property follows legal protections for housing and services. There's a parking lot and space for visiting guests. Memory care services are tailored for those who need more support, with the Vienna boutique environment offering quieter, more personal attention. Apartments and shared rooms are available for memory care residents.

Santianna Oakmont Signature Senior Living isn't currently listed for sale or rent on public sites, but it stays active as a rental apartment community and holds California state license number 374604533. Services and amenities are focused on comfort, safety, good food, and a variety of ways to stay engaged, with staff always around. The setting's peaceful, with beautiful landscaping, and there's a wide selection of related Oakmont and Ivy Park communities around California and the western states if families want to compare services.
