    Fantastic staff, great food, affordable

I placed my sister in this secure Alzheimer's/memory-care home and I'm very happy with it. The staff are fantastic and hands-on (the owner even helps cook), the food is excellent - she's eating well and gaining weight - and the rooms are clean, bright and homey. The big, nicely landscaped house has plenty of social/activity spaces, a strong activities program, and feels affordable and well run.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews of Country Gardens are predominantly positive, painting a picture of a welcoming, home-like residential community with a strong emphasis on nutrition, safety, and resident well-being. Many reviewers highlight well-maintained grounds and landscaping, comfortable and tasteful furnishings, fresh decor, and plentiful natural light in communal spaces. The facility is repeatedly described as clean and well cared for, with residents appearing happy and well attended. Country Gardens also appears to have a clear focus on memory care (dementia/Alzheimer's), and reviewers frequently note a secure environment and a strong caregiver presence that supports this population.

Care quality and staff: Care is a major strength in the reviews. Numerous comments describe the staff as fantastic, patient, and very involved; one reviewer specifically mentions the owner cooking and caring for residents, which reinforces a hands-on, personal level of management. There are multiple reports of residents improving under the care (for example, eating better or gaining weight), which suggests effective nutritional and clinical attention. That said, there are a minority of reviews that report poor staff attitude. This inconsistency across reviews suggests variability in staff performance or differences in individual experiences; prospective families should ask about staff turnover, shift coverage, and opportunities to meet caregivers before deciding.

Facilities and accommodation: The community spaces—activity rooms, social rooms, and outdoor walkways—are frequently praised and described as beautiful, bright, and conducive to socializing and activity. Safety features in bathrooms and a secure environment are highlighted, appropriate for a memory-care-focused setting. However, accommodation impressions vary: some reviewers report private, tasteful, light-filled rooms and even larger rooms that suited family needs, while others say rooms are small, dark, and mostly semi-private. This split indicates that room size, privacy, and natural light likely depend on the specific unit or building within the campus. Families should verify room types and visit specific units to confirm lighting, square footage, and privacy options.

Dining and activities: Dining is consistently cited as a strength—numerous comments describe the food as excellent, nutritious, and appealing, with healthy snacks and an emphasis on hydration. An owner-cook or similarly engaged kitchen staff is mentioned positively by reviewers. The activity program receives largely favorable remarks: a stimulating calendar with games, TV and singing, organized walks and excursions, and exercise classes was noted. Yet some reviews contradict this, describing limited activities. This mixed feedback could reflect differences over time (e.g., staffing or seasonal programming), differences between shifts, or variation by resident ability and care plan. Prospective residents should request a sample weekly activities schedule and ask how the program is adapted for different cognitive and physical ability levels.

Management, pricing, and location: Country Gardens is described as having a reasonable price point and a good local reputation. The convenient location is mentioned positively by some reviewers, though at least one reviewer characterized the location as unremarkable. The facility’s secure, memory-care orientation is appropriate for those needing dementia/Alzheimer's support, but that increased security can also translate into restricted freedom to go out—several reviewers noted residents "cannot go out," which families should consider if independent outings are important. Overall management appears hands-on in some cases (owner involvement), but the mixed reports on staff attitude and activity consistency suggest areas to probe during a tour.

Key patterns and recommendations: The dominant themes are strong nutrition and dining, a home-like and well-kept environment, active programming, and attentive caregiving tailored to memory-care needs. The main concerns are variability in room quality (size, light, private vs semi-private), occasional reports of limited activities, and inconsistent staff attitude narratives. For someone considering Country Gardens, these reviews suggest it is a solid option for memory-care residents who will benefit from structured routines, good food, and a secure setting. Before committing, visit multiple room types, meet caregiving staff across shifts, request recent activity calendars, and ask about policies for supervised outings to ensure the environment and services match the resident’s preferences and needs.

    About Country Gardens

Country Gardens sits in a quiet, country-like part of Fallbrook, CA, and serves up to 16 residents in a warm, home-like place, so you'll find folks getting help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, and medicine, and it's set up for long-term custodial care, independent living, assisted living, board and care home, nursing care, memory care, and respite stays. The staff includes licensed nurses and helpers who are trained to care for people with physical disabilities, strokes, Parkinson's disease, insulin-dependent diabetes, and dementia, and they're on hand 24 hours a day for any needs, with a licensed nurse who checks on residents each day for things like blood sugar and blood pressure. Residents can go outside and tend vegetables in the garden or visit the orchard, watch the doves in the aviary, or just sit in the covered patio with friends or family, which stays pretty peaceful since there's a secure perimeter to keep everyone safe. Dogs come to visit sometimes, and there's a big community living room for group activities, picnics, worship, or quiet afternoons watching color cable TV, and plenty of ways to keep in touch with relatives, whether by Skype or family dinners. The kitchen staff cooks home-style meals that can be changed for special diets, and there are always snacks and hearty food available, with housekeeping, laundry with mending and ironing, and full help with hygiene, dressing, and grooming, plus an in-house salon for hair and nails, so folks stay comfortable and cleaned up. For those needing more care, there's physical therapy, medication management, medical, dental, and podiatry care on site, and the facility can serve those with incontinence too, along with a memory care program that focuses on daily, memory-specific activities and making things less confusing for people with dementia or Alzheimer's. There are open courtyards, walking paths, and big, sunny rooms, both private and shared, with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and phone lines, and the staff helps arrange rides to doctor visits and personal shopping. Residents spend time on community outreach, like making arts and crafts for charity, and the staff encourages folks to be independent, learn new things, and join in social, recreational, and wellness activities, all in an atmosphere that stays positive, friendly, and respectful. The facility is licensed since January 2023, has a capacity of sixteen, and is set up to accept SSI residents and those from San Diego Regional Center. Country Gardens is recognized for thoughtful, personalized touches, good food, helpful staff, and plenty of ways for residents to stay active, both in body and mind, with regular state inspections and a strong focus on safety and care.
