    Professional, caring, respectful rehab care

I had a very positive experience here - the staff were professional, caring, and attentive, and my loved one received solid rehab-focused care with thorough discharge planning. The facility felt clean, welcoming, and well run, with good communication from leadership. Overall I felt my family member was respected and well cared for, with just room for small improvements.

    Summary of reviews

These reviews describe a facility with a mix of recognized strengths and significant operational inconsistencies. Positive aspects cited include an official Five-Star Medicare rating, specialized clinical services such as a congestive heart failure program, ACLS-certified RNs, and an emphasis on therapy services. Reviewers also identified long-tenured staff, an engaged executive director, on-site dietician services, accessible outdoor areas, and a range of activity offerings as meaningful benefits for residents.

Clinical care quality appears uneven. Several accounts point to delays in personal-care tasks (bathing and toileting assistance), inconsistent medication monitoring, and gaps in infection-control and sanitation practices in certain units or shifts. While some families described compassionate, competent nursing and attentive RNs who supported recovery, others experienced difficulties with care coordination, delayed clinical response, and insufficient documentation or communication after incidents. These contrasting experiences suggest variability in clinical processes and oversight depending on unit or staffing levels.

Staffing and staff conduct are frequent themes. Reviewers reported unpredictable shift coverage and staff call-offs that affected continuity of care, and they described mixed experiences with staff professionalism โ€” ranging from helpful, respectful caregivers to interactions perceived as rude or dismissive. Several comments indicate burnout and turnover pressures, and there are concerns that training and supervision may not be consistent across all staff, which can contribute to uneven care delivery.

Dining, activities, and daily life receive both praise and criticism. The facility offers fresh meals, a dietician on site, activity programming including memory-focused events, and communal spaces such as a garden and a warm entrance area. However, some families noted inconsistent meal quality, limited engagement for certain residents, and variability in how activity programming is implemented. Private-room availability and accessible patios were positive points for resident comfort.

Facility condition and operational management show mixed signals. Many reviewers described clean, well-maintained common areas and a welcoming landscape, while others reported sanitation concerns, odor issues in some areas, and cosmetic deferred maintenance in parts of the building. Additional operational issues raised include inconsistent handling of laundry and personal belongings, limited building-access controls on a main street location, and perceptions that administrative processes for complaints and incident escalation lack transparency. These management-level gaps can compound family frustration when clinical or operational problems arise.

In sum, prospective residents and families should weigh the facility's recognized clinical capabilities, therapy emphasis, and some praised staff against repeated operational concerns related to staffing reliability, infection-control consistency, personal-care scheduling, and complaint-handling. Visiting at multiple times of day, meeting unit staff and leadership, reviewing care plans and incident/communication policies, and confirming supervision and staffing ratios for the intended unit can help clarify whether this facilityโ€™s strengths align with a prospective residentโ€™s needs.

    About Golden Living

Golden Living is a senior living community and skilled nursing facility, also known as Golden Livingcenter - Fresno or Dycora Transitional Living or Promenade Care Center, located at 2715 Fresno Street in Fresno, California, with license number #40000078 and a capacity for 232 residents. This facility helps people recover from illness or injury or provides long-term nursing home care for those who need ongoing support, and they have a range of care options, including skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, independent living, and respite care. The staff includes trained nurses, therapists, and caregivers who create personalized care plans and offer healthcare, medication management, help with daily living, and various therapies, even for complex needs such as cardiac care, dialysis, diabetes, stroke, joint problems, pain, or dementia and Alzheimer's support, including a secure, dedicated memory care area where staff receive special training to understand and handle memory loss. Golden Living keeps round-the-clock supervision, with 12-16 hour nursing coverage, a 24-hour call system, emergency alert systems, and security measures like locked units to prevent wandering, which is pretty important for some residents. People get a choice between private or semi-private rooms, all with cable TV, internet, air conditioning, private bathrooms, and kitchenettes, with some rooms shared and others single, and there are common areas like a dining room, small library, fitness room, beauty salon or parlor, garden spaces, sauna, and even a jacuzzi, plus scheduled activities like bingo, fitness groups, bible study, social events, movie nights, and more, and some families have enjoyed the activities, the resident cats, and the real fireplace at the entrance that makes the place a bit warmer. Meals get served restaurant-style, and there's a dietician who watches out for special diets or health needs, and staff helps with things like bathing, hygiene, dressing, and moving around for those who need it, and for people who can't get around by themselves, staff provides regular assistance. The place looks clean on the inside, with a neat entrance and reception, and there are garden paths and outdoor sitting areas so residents can go out safely and get some fresh air, though there are also reports from families about poor cleanliness, unfriendly staff, and food that some found inedible, mentioning that staff are at times slow to check on residents. Golden Living accepts Medicaid and Medicare, offers parking and transportation (including rides to off-site appointments), and has support services like housekeeping, laundry, move-in help, and family support. They've scored 9.5 out of 36 reviews with 50% giving five stars, so some people give high marks, while others have experienced problems. Golden Living is part of a much larger network of facilities that offer many kinds of care for seniors, and while some families appreciate the personalized plans, comfortable rooms, and busy activity calendar, others have voiced concerns, so experiences can differ from person to person, and it's always a good idea to see the place in person and ask questions before making a choice.
