    Compassionate, clean, safe and welcoming

I placed my loved one here and have been consistently impressed by the compassionate, attentive staff-nurses, CNAs and administrators (Crystal and the admissions team were especially helpful). The home is clean, bright and safe with fun activities, a salon, courtyard, good food and nearby skilled nursing for peace of mind. New ownership and ongoing updates have brought positive energy; I feel confident recommending this affordable, welcoming community while it continues to grow.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews present a split picture of Stonehaven Senior Living: many accounts praise compassionate caregivers, engaging activities, and a number of facility amenities, while a substantial set of operational concerns recurs across reviews. Strengths cited include an attentive admissions team and social worker assistance, a range of care options with nearby skilled-nursing access, on-site therapy, and communal amenities such as a salon, courtyard, and event space. Several reviewers also note affordability, bright interiors, studio-unit availability, and active holiday and volunteer programming that contribute to a home-like atmosphere.

Care and staffing descriptions vary considerably. Positive reports emphasize kind, organized, and dedicated CNAs and nurses who foster a supportive environment and meaningful resident engagement. At the same time, many reviews describe inconsistent staffing levels, frequent caregiver absences, and uneven staff competency. These operational issues link to concerns about delays in attending to residents, inconsistent medication or incident follow-up, and long waits for assistance after falls or call lights. There are also observations praising specific clinical leaders, indicating pockets of strong clinical leadership amidst broader variability.

Dining and activities receive mixed comments. Multiple reviewers describe enjoyable, home-style meals and active programming (cards, dominoes, outings, holiday events) that residents enjoy. However, several reviews note unreliable meal timing, long waits, and service interruptions. Activity offerings are generally seen as engaging when staffed well, and community involvement and volunteer programs are highlighted as positive contributors to resident quality of life.

Facility condition and maintenance are inconsistent across accounts. Positive mentions include clean grounds, recent remodeling, improved aesthetics, and well-maintained common areas. Counterbalancing this are recurring sanitation and pest-control concerns in some rooms and common areas, odor concerns in certain spaces, and examples of maintenance and repair processes that are slow or poorly executed. Temperature control is another operational weakness: reviewers report both overheated and very cold conditions at different times.

Management and ownership themes show transition. Several reviewers describe a new ownership or management team and note visible improvements, renewed staff morale, and renovation plans. Conversely, communication gaps between management, staff, and families are frequently cited—families report unclear or delayed information about repairs, care issues, or policy changes. Financial concerns also appear: rent increases and affordability pressures are a consistent worry for fixed-income residents. There are isolated but serious claims—including allegations of theft and concerns following a resident's death—that have prompted calls for investigation; these underscore the need for transparent incident-response and documentation.

Overall, Stonehaven appears to offer important strengths in caregiving, social programming, and affordability, alongside notable operational risks tied to staffing consistency, sanitation and pest control, maintenance responsiveness, and communication. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing patterns, pest-control and housekeeping protocols, incident-response procedures, and recent inspection or ownership-change documentation during any tour or decision process. Visiting multiple times (including meal and activity hours) and speaking directly with nursing leadership and the admissions/social-work team can help assess whether recent improvements have addressed the recurring concerns noted in reviews.
