    Attentive loving care, clean home

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased with the level of care. The owner is an RN - knowledgeable and personable - and caregivers like Rose, Jonathan, and Beth are attentive, loving, and professional, especially in the evenings. The home is clean and orderly with private rooms, a nice common sitting area for TV, a large dining table, and a covered back patio with a beautiful view; meals are delicious and home-cooked. Drawbacks: not pet friendly, they provide the furniture so you can't use your own, and pricing seems to change with every conversation. Overall, caregiving is excellent and the welcoming staff eased the transition.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly positive around the quality of hands-on caregiving and the personal, attentive nature of staff. Multiple reviewers emphasize that caregiving is the most important factor and consistently report that staff provide high-quality, loving, and professional care. The owner being an RN is noted as a reassuring and knowledgeable presence; named caregivers (Rose, Jonathan, Beth) receive specific praise for being attentive, especially during evenings, and for easing transitions for new residents. Several comments describe residents as being well cared for and family members as very pleased or satisfied with the board-and-care level of service.

Facility and cleanliness are repeatedly described positively. Reviewers note a clean, orderly home with well-maintained common areas. The physical layout includes private rooms and a large dining room table that supports communal meals, and there is a covered back patio with a pleasant view that reviewers appreciated. The dining experience also receives favorable mention: home-cooked meals are described as delicious, and the large dining area helps foster shared mealtime. Staff greeting and the welcoming atmosphere are singled out as easing the move-in process and contributing to resident comfort.

There are, however, recurring operational and policy concerns that prospective families should clarify. Pricing and billing communication appears inconsistent: several reviewers report that price changes or that pricing seemed to shift "with every conversation," suggesting a need for clearer written fee schedules and stable pricing practices. The facility has a furniture policy that supplies furniture and reportedly does not permit residents to bring their own furniture; this could be important for residents who wish to personalize their rooms. The community is not pet friendly, which will matter to pet owners.

Activity programming and use of shared spaces show mixed or unclear experiences. Some reviewers mention residents being able to watch TV together and the presence of newspapers and puzzles, but others explicitly say there is no common TV room and that activities for residents were unclear. This results in an inconsistent picture about how active or structured social/activity programming is beyond basic offerings like puzzles and the daily paper. Additionally, the point that multiple residences operate in the same space may create confusion about layout, levels of care offered in different units, or how communal spaces are shared; families should ask how these multiple residences are organized and whether it affects day-to-day life.

Staffing and care continuity are strengths emphasized across reviews: caregivers are described as attentive, caring, and professional, with positive notes about extended assistance and evening attention. The personal, hands-on approach appears to be a core strength and is the primary reason families feel comfortable entrusting their loved ones to the facility. Nonetheless, because there are contrasts in comments about communal spaces and activities, prospective families should ask specific questions about activity schedules, communal living spaces (for example, whether a consistent common TV room exists), and how the facility communicates changes to pricing or policies.

In summary, American Legend's Home is portrayed as a well-run, clean, and welcoming board-and-care environment with a strong emphasis on compassionate, high-quality caregiving led by an RN owner and supported by praised staff. Food, cleanliness, and personal attention are clear positives. Areas to investigate further before making decisions include written pricing policies and stability of fees, the furniture policy, pet rules, the precise organization of multiple residences on site, and the consistency and scope of activity programming and communal spaces. If caregiving quality is your top priority, reviewers indicate this facility performs very well; if consistency in activities, personal furniture, or pet accommodations are important, clarify those policies up front.

Staff handle housework, linen changes, and provide ongoing health checks or scheduled doctor visits-there's also transportation for medical appointments if needed. Memory care and respite programs support those with dementia or give caregivers a break, and they always aim to help folks stay as independent as possible while getting help where it's needed. Safety comes first with call buttons, fall prevention systems, and moving aid available throughout the home. With a maximum capacity of ten or fewer residents, there's genuine attention given to each person, and the community's licensed and has an A+ BBB rating, even though it isn't BBB accredited. The home covers both Adult Foster Care and Board and Care services, and with experienced caregivers and a simple, familiar environment, it suits people who want a smaller, supportive place to live as they age.
