    Compassionate faith-based care, excellent therapy

I felt blessed by the compassionate, faith-driven staff - loving missionary sisters in a spotless, peaceful facility with beautiful gardens and a thrift store that supports on-site care; home-made, senior-friendly meals, lots of activities, and excellent PT/OT helped my father regain mobility and made me confident he was well cared for. Only real negatives: room TVs are hard to see and I heard of a denial of admission tied to the facility's religious/safety policy.

About Mary Health of the Sick

Mary Health of the Sick sits at the intersection of Borchard Road and Theresa Drive in Newbury Park, right next to Sequoia Middle School, and the place has been around for quite a while offering care for people who need either short-term or long-term help, and folks often talk about how it's both a nonprofit and non-sectarian skilled nursing facility with a capacity of 61 beds, which isn't something you find just anywhere. The staff is made up of more than 100 people, and they keep the hospital running 24 hours a day, with different kinds of specialized care for the sick, whether folks need nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy, or occupational therapy, and the facility itself has been recently renovated, which means it feels fresh and clean with things like rooms that come with televisions, individual pillow speakers, and telephones, and you'll also notice a real focus on comfort and keeping everything orderly.

People often mention the chapel, which is open all the time for residents, families, or friends, and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass takes place daily for anyone who wishes to attend, plus there are landscaped grounds, a garden area, recreation rooms, and on-site laundry, making things easier for those who live there; you can walk out to the pretty gardens if you feel up to it, or you might join some group activities or use the rehab facilities which all happen under the same roof. Mary Health of the Sick is known for using compassionate and holistic care approaches, where love and spiritual enrichment matter as much as medical treatment, and you'll hear folks say it combines skilled nursing with a caring atmosphere and well-trained staff who handle pain management, wound care, intravenous therapy, dietary needs, and even provide on-call pastoral care and social services, which means just about every kind of help someone might need is covered.

The facility has earned a five-star rating from both Federal and State Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which not many places achieve in the Conejo area, and it's also got a thrift store open from ten to three on weekdays, which tends to be busy in the afternoons. You'll find educational resources are available too, and the Development Director, Vicki Samra, helps folks with estate planning by offering a Free Estate Planning Guide and a Wills Planner tool, along with information about planned giving, wills, and bequest language, so professional advisors and families can make wise decisions, and there's always someone who can answer questions during the office hours from eight to four. Mary Health of the Sick has made a name for itself by doing ordinary things with a lot of care, offering skilled nursing, therapy services, nutritious meals, spiritual care, and plenty of support, all with the aim of helping sick people regain their health or feel more comfortable day by day.
