About Del Monte Assisted Living & Memory Care

Del Monte Assisted Living & Memory Care sat right in Pacific Grove as a family-owned facility where seniors lived in a comforting and home-like place, and it was the only spot in town focused on both assisted living and memory care, which really did make it unique for this area if someone needed both types of care. It had sixty-five beds and opened its doors to folks needing help every day, all day and night, and the gardens surrounding the community offered peaceful walks and places to sit, adding a gentle beauty to the grounds that made it feel restful. The staff gave all kinds of care, whether you needed simple help with things like taking medicine, bathing, or dressing, or if you needed deeper support for Alzheimer's or dementia-since they had high staffing ratios for their memory care program, which sat behind secured doors and focused on safety and reducing confusion, as well as a Traverse program for folks with early memory loss who weren't quite ready for full memory care yet but needed more than standard assisted living.

The team there worked hard to get to know each resident, creating personalized care plans, learning favorite foods, and making adjustments if someone had specific health or spiritual needs. They cooked meals daily, made with good ingredients, and paid attention to special diets, including for folks with diabetes. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen services kept things clean and comfortable, and rooms were furnished so no one had to worry if moving was a challenge. Help was always nearby-there was a 24-hour call system, emergency alert buttons, and staff for medication management and incontinence care. The community filled days with activities, movie nights, walking paths, gardening, barbershop visits, arts room projects, and tried to make life as full and engaging as possible, bringing in support for mental wellness and mild memory problems too. Residents could join for just a short while, thanks to respite care, or move in for the long term. Hospice care was available for those near the end of life, focusing on comfort and peace.

Though Del Monte Assisted Living & Memory Care offered housing through programs like the Assisted Living Waiver for those with lower incomes or disabilities, the community aimed to support all residents warmly, no matter their background, working closely with their families and keeping up a positive, relaxed feeling like a bed and breakfast where people knew each other by name. Residents came from all over-Pacific Grove, Carmel Valley, Seaside, Monterey County, Marina, Carmel Highlands, and even Salinas-and the community tried to make sure everyone felt valued, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. Activities and outings gave people a chance to feel like every day was worth something, whether it was something small or special. The facility heard some mixed reviews over the years and has been under new management, which shows things weren't always perfect, but the aim continued to be one of gentle, attentive care and making the place as comfortable as possible for each person who called it home. Del Monte Assisted Living & Memory Care is now permanently closed.
