I was very pleased with my stay - beautiful, spacious ocean-view apartments, stylish units stocked for comfortable living, and a warm, walkable downtown setting with entertainment, library and transportation to the pool and sports centers. The professional, compassionate staff in assisted living and skilled nursing were attentive and proactive, with dedicated therapists (PT/OT) who reviewed meds, improved my mobility and helped me safely transition home. Clean, pleasant facility with great coffee and thoughtful service - I felt well cared for and would recommend it.

Summary of reviews
Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed and highly polarized. Many reviewers praise the frontline clinical staff — nurses, therapists, and aides — describing them as attentive, compassionate, and at times going above and beyond. Several reviews specifically credit physical and occupational therapy with measurable mobility improvements and full recoveries, and multiple people express deep gratitude for the care received. The facility itself receives positive remarks for cleanliness, spaciousness, attractive ocean-view apartments, and well-equipped units. Amenities and lifestyle features such as entertainers, a library, transportation to recreational facilities, a walkable downtown location, and good coffee/espresso options are also highlighted as definite strengths.
Care quality shows a clear split. On one side, there are firsthand accounts of competent, professional, and friendly staff who facilitate a smooth transition home and reduce family anxiety; these reviews often include recommendations and praise for specific clinicians (Dr. Morad was called out positively). On the other side, some reviewers recount serious clinical and safety concerns — for example, complaints that swallowing problems or other medical instructions were ignored. These cases emphasize inconsistent training or execution among staff and suggest variability in clinical vigilance.
Dining and dietary services are a recurrent negative theme. Multiple reviewers describe meals as poor, repetitive, unhealthy, and in need of customization. While some find the food acceptable, the predominant tone is that the dining experience falls short of expectations for nutrition and variety. Requests for dietary customization appear not to be consistently met, which is a notable concern given the clinical population that often requires tailored meal plans.
Administration and management attract the most severe criticisms. Reviews frequently characterize management as disorganized, dismissive of complaints, and prone to communication failures. Problems cited include billing errors, a sense that the company prioritizes money, and allegations of contract breaches, forced move-outs, and even illegal evictions. These are serious claims that point to systemic administrative issues rather than isolated incidents. Several reviewers report that complaints were ignored or poorly handled, creating distrust despite positive interactions with frontline caregivers.
Transition planning and discharge support are another area of divergence. Positive accounts describe successful transitions facilitated by therapy and staff attention; negative accounts indicate nonexistent transition plans, failed discharge assistance, and unmet post-discharge needs. This inconsistency suggests processes for discharge and aftercare are not uniformly enforced or staffed, and families should verify transition protocols in advance.
A clear pattern emerges: the quality of direct, hands-on care (nursing, therapy, housekeeping, and activities) is often commended, while higher-level administrative functions (management responsiveness, billing, contract enforcement, and transition logistics) are the frequent source of complaints. Prospective residents and families should weigh these differences carefully. When considering Forest Hill Post Acute, ask specific questions about dietary accommodations, discharge planning, billing practices, and how complaints are escalated and resolved. Request to speak with clinical staff, observe meal service, and get written policies on discharge and financial obligations to help mitigate the variability reflected in these reviews.
In summary, Forest Hill Post Acute appears to provide strong hands-on clinical care and attractive amenities in many cases, but the facility shows notable weaknesses in food services and administrative management. These weaknesses have led to some severe negative experiences for a subset of residents and families. The reviews recommend close vetting of administrative policies and a thorough tour and discussion with both clinical and administrative staff before committing, so that families can confirm the aspects most important to them (nutrition, transitions, billing, and complaint resolution) are handled to their satisfaction.

About Forest Hill Post Acute
Forest Hill Post Acute sits at 551 Gibson Avenue and has 26 beds, with 16 of them as private rooms, each coming furnished with a television and telephone, which helps give the rooms a bit more comfort and privacy, and you'll also find air-conditioning, WiFi, housekeeping, linen services, and private bathrooms in those rooms, which can make daily life easier. The building is Medicare and Medicaid certified, run as a for-profit corporation, and it's part of a bigger Continuing Care Retirement Community, so the place offers care options like Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Respite Care, Hospice Care, Independent Living, Nursing Home, Home Care, and even Adult Day Services, which means people can move between different care types as they need.
Registered nurses stay on-site around the clock, so residents get continuous nursing care and there's always supervision with a 24-hour call system, which helps families worry less about emergencies. Forest Hill Post Acute's trained staff handles medical needs for people who need extra help, especially for those who are medically fragile or have complex cases, and the rehab team sets up personalized physical, occupational, and speech therapy for each person, working with families on therapy goals to help every resident try for as much independence as possible. They help out with bathing, dressing, and transfers, and provide medication management, wound care, rehabilitation, and support with all daily living tasks, and there's a coordinator to help new residents and families during the transition into care, offering 24/7 admissions.
Amenities include a dining room, family private dining rooms for gatherings, a small library, a wellness center, an outdoor patio, garden spots, and a fitness room, plus scheduled group activities, so there's a sense of routine and community. They provide meals that follow special dietary needs like diabetes diets or other restrictions, and offer dietary and pharmacy services, along with more medical services like podiatry, dental visits, diagnostic X-rays, and clinical lab work on-site. There's transportation support, whether for medical or social reasons, and residents can join group activities or just sit in the communal areas if they want. Forest Hill Post Acute has a full in-house rehab unit, offers both short-term rehab and longer-term skilled care, and works to make the stay as comfortable and homelike as possible during recovery.
They take Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, and most insurance, and participate in CMS Quality initiatives. The facility's part of a network with places like Forest Hill Manor Health Center, Carmel Hills Care Center, Pacific Coast Post Acute, and others, sharing some services and approaches. The staff manages all sorts of needs, including home care, hospice, respite stays, and active adult living, so residents can get both everyday support and more specialized care as needs change.
