    Attentive compassionate warm organized care

I have peace of mind here: attentive, trustworthy staff and skilled nurses (Lilibeth) treated my dad like family, coordinated hospice seamlessly, and provided organized, empathetic care. The home is spotless and beautiful, with roomy rooms, lovely landscaping, home-cooked meals tailored to residents' needs, and a convenient Palo Alto location - Penny and the team are very helpful. A few therapy services were still being phased in when we arrived, but the warmth, personalized care, and medical attention have been outstanding.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these review summaries is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, family-like staff and reliable medical care. Multiple reviewers highlight that staff treat residents like family and provide warmth, individualized attention, and continuity of care—one family noted four years of satisfied residency. The facility is consistently described as clean and well maintained, with no unpleasant odors, attractive landscaping, and large, comfortable rooms. These environmental details combine with reports of community meals and outdoor yard space to create an impression of an inviting, home-like setting.

Care quality and clinical support are frequently praised. Reviews mention attentive monitoring of medical needs, fall prevention measures, skilled RNs, and strong coordination with hospice providers when needed. Several accounts specifically commend dignified, empathetic end-of-life care that followed family wishes. There are multiple references to staff advocacy and organization—one reviewer named Lilibeth as an experienced nurse who advocated for her father, and other reviewers singled out the director and administrators (including a positive mention of Penny) for being competent, energetic, and caring. Families report feeling well informed about health changes, and many express that the level of care provides real peace of mind.

Dining and individualized care are recurring strengths. Reviewers repeatedly describe home-cooked, nourishing meals, and note that meals are tailored to residents' preferences and dietary needs. This attention to personalization extends beyond dining to the overall caregiving approach: reviewers cite favorable caregiver-to-resident ratios, personalized routines, and staff who are attentive during family visits. The facility also supports residents with dementia and provides transition support that accommodates family needs (room placement near bathrooms and family-friendly visitation are mentioned).

Facilities and location are positive factors as well. The premises are described as spotless and well-maintained, with beautiful landscaping and pleasant yard space that supports outdoor walks. Large rooms with good natural light are noted as a contributor to resident comfort. The Palo Alto location is mentioned specifically as convenient for at least one reviewer, which can be an important practical factor for visiting family.

Management and service development are overall strengths, but reviewers also note one notable area for improvement: on-site therapy services. A few summaries indicate that therapists were not yet in place at the time of review and that in-house therapy and other services were planned to be phased in over a roughly nine-week timeline. Because of this ramp-up, a couple of reviewers explicitly stated they were withholding final judgment until those services were fully operational. This is the primary concern across the summaries; otherwise reviewers consistently praise the staff, clinical oversight, cleanliness, and resident-centered culture.

In summary, Epione Residential Care is characterized in these reviews as a warm, well-run home with strong clinical support, compassionate staff, and a high degree of personalization. Strengths most consistently mentioned are the attentive nursing and hospice coordination, family-like staff relationships, home-cooked and customized meals, clean and attractive facilities, and clear communication with families. The main caveat is a transitional gap in availability of on-site therapy services at the time of some reviews, with plans noted to add those services. For families prioritizing compassionate caregiving, good clinical oversight, and a homelike environment, the reviews present Epione as a highly favorable option; families for whom immediate on-site therapy availability is critical should confirm the current status of those services before deciding.

    About Epione Residential Care

Epione Residential Care sits on South Mary Avenue in Sunnyvale, right in Santa Clara County, and you'll see it's one of those homes where six residents live together in a single-story house that's been fixed up to be comfortable and safe, with private and shared rooms, and you'll see the place is really clean and tidy, no bad smells or messes, and the whole feel is homelike and warm, so residents don't feel lost in a big facility. Lilibeth Jacobs, who's a registered nurse, runs a team of caregivers who look after people all day and night, taking care of health needs, making sure folks get their medicine on time, and helping with things like bathing, dressing, and eating, while keeping an eye on anyone who might need a hand moving around so folks are less likely to fall. Meals are home-cooked and changed around for residents with allergies or diabetes, and if you walk around, you'll find a nice yard and some paths for getting fresh air or taking a calm stroll. The team helps residents stay active and social with things like movie nights, creative arts, group meals, walks, and the occasional shopping trip, and they check up on everybody's health, handle laundry and cleaning, and work with family as much as they can, encouraging visits and your phone calls so folks don't feel forgotten. For doctors' visits, there's transportation, and residents have emergency call buttons in their rooms for quick help, which is good peace of mind. If someone's going through hospital stays or rehab, the staff works hard to advocate for comfort, and if needed, they'll coordinate with hospice for pain relief and support. Epione Residential Care has a license for six beds, and it's been in business for over five years under license number 435202751, with the last licensing check done in March 2021. The whole idea here is to give seniors a safe, cheerful place to live where they're respected, with plenty of help when needed but freedom when possible, whether folks need a little extra help, memory care, or more independent living, and the home takes Medicaid for payment and keeps privacy and resident information secure at all times.
