    Attentive caregivers, beautiful home, limited

I moved my mom in and overall I'm glad I did. Caregivers were excellent - attentive, kind, and adapted quickly; owners and staff were organized, responsive, and informative. The home and room are beautiful and spotless with a lovely backyard/patio, tasty healthy food, good visiting hours, and compassionate end-of-life care. Downsides: it felt more like room-and-board than a full assisted-living center, there are basically no activities, and a few staff came off as intimidating or lacking warmth.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is positive, with multiple reviewers praising the cleanliness, homelike environment, and caregiving quality at Navita Residences Thousand Oaks. The physical facility repeatedly earns compliments for being a beautiful, clean house with tidy rooms and attractive outdoor spaces such as a backyard and patio. Several reviewers specifically noted that residents adapted quickly, and at least one family highlighted compassionate end-of-life care, indicating strength in personalized, high-touch support.

Care quality and staff performance are consistent strengths in the reviews. Caregivers are described as very good or high-quality, attentive, kind, and helpful. Reviewers mentioned clear, responsive communication from staff and owners, and that staff were informative and willing to answer questions. Management is characterized as organized and responsive, which supports families during transitions. Good visiting hours were also noted, which can be important for family involvement and peace of mind.

Dining receives positive mentions as well, with several reviewers calling the food enjoyable and tasty and noting healthy choices on the menu. This suggests a level of attention to residents' nutrition and meal experience that many families value. Cleanliness of the house and rooms is another recurring positive theme, reinforcing the impression of a well-maintained, homelike setting.

There are, however, notable limitations and mixed perceptions that potential residents and families should weigh. A common concern is the lack of organized activities or programming; multiple reviews explicitly say there are no activities, which may reduce opportunities for social engagement and structured daily stimulation. Related to this, some reviewers felt the place had a 'room-and-board' impression and wished for more of an assisted living center — indicating an expectation mismatch for those seeking more formal assisted-living services, medical support, or a more active communal environment.

Finally, while many reviewers praised the staff, a minority described interactions as intimidating or lacking warmth. This contrast suggests variability in staff approachability or interpersonal fit; families who prioritize a consistently warm front-line team may want to meet staff in person and observe interactions before deciding. In summary, Navita Residences Thousand Oaks appears well suited to families seeking a clean, homelike environment with attentive, high-quality caregiving, good food, and responsive management, but may be less appropriate for those seeking robust activity programming or a more traditional assisted-living center experience. Families should consider visiting, reviewing the level of clinical services provided, and discussing activity options and staff interactions to ensure alignment with expectations.

    About Navita Residences Thousand Oaks

Navita Residences Thousand Oaks sits in Thousand Oaks, CA, as a licensed Residential Care Elderly facility where seniors can choose independent living or assisted living, and that means folks who want less hands-on support and those who need daily help with things like bathing, dressing, or getting around both have options, and with only 6 assisted living units and 6 licensed beds, the place stays small and kinship-oriented, so residents form real connections with each other and with staff, making it feel more like a private house than one of those bigger communities, and you'll find rooms with choices like studios, one-bedroom, or even communal living, each with private baths, wheelchair-accessible showers, housekeepers, kitchens or kitchenettes, and washers and dryers in the rooms. You get a wide range of services like three chef-prepared meals a day, laundry and housekeeping, on-call nurse, medication administration, emergency systems in each room, within the community, and customized care plans covering memory care for dementia and Alzheimer's, Parkinson's care, rehabilitative services, manual feeding, and help with daily tasks, and there's also 24-hour non-medical care and supervision with round-the-clock staff who are trained for falls management and health observation. For folks who need help getting from place to place, there's walking and wheelchair assistance, plus wheelchair-accessible showers, and they help with incontinence care, too, so people with different health needs have what they need and there's a nurse on call and staff who provide personal care plus extra supervision for those living with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lewy body dementia, mild cognitive impairment, stroke, and problems with mobility. The place has extra touches-sprinkler system, house safety features, WiFi, cable TV, a dining room, game/activity room, fitness center, salon/barbershop, and landscaped patio and walking path outside for fresh air, and people can join in activities like arts and crafts, chapel services, social and recreational events, and education programs though some reviews mention a focus on care rather than a long list of activities in the smallest settings. There's transportation for doctor visits and errands, and complimentary transportation comes included-there's parking for residents and guests, and the location is convenient to bus lines, doctors, hospitals, and entertainment, which makes it easier for families and visitors. Meals suit different diets, memory care menus are available, and people get a custom care assessment on move-in, so care matches individual needs, whether short-term respite care, hospice, long-term care, or even diabetic and incontinence management, since they don't take Medicare but do accept long-term care insurance. Navita Residences keeps things homey and straightforward, keeping care personal and surroundings tidy, and this place has received recognition with awards for Best Meals and Dining, Best Activities, and Best of Senior Living along with reviews talking about helpful caregivers and good communication, offering a peaceful space for seniors who want comfort, safety, and a thoughtful pace. Tours and virtual visits can be set up for anyone looking to get a better sense of the environment and care style available here, as Navita focuses on providing peace of mind for both residents and their families.
