    About Heatherwood Memory Care

Heatherwood Memory Care sits right in downtown Walnut Creek and offers both private and semi-private apartments, all with private bathrooms that help residents find their way and remember things more easily, and these rooms even have both indoor and outdoor entrances which connects right to a safe, secure courtyard where fresh air and bright outdoor space can be enjoyed without worry, and plenty of light fills the common areas inside too, so every bit of the place feels open and welcoming. The community is small enough, with around 25 residents, where staff can really get to know folks, their history, and their daily needs, and they're always there day and night, making sure people living with Alzheimer's or other dementia conditions get as much support as they need, including for things like walking, bathing, grooming, and taking medicines, with a team that knows how to create a calm, predictable routine that feels like home. The dining room serves three meals from scratch every day-meals that taste good and can be changed for anyone with special needs-and there's always snacks and drinks ready, any time of day or night for anyone who wants something extra. Activities are planned every day by full-time staff who specialize in memory care, including music and art therapy sessions, designed to give everyone a chance to stay active, both in mind and body, and the calm courtyard even has a safe spot for exercise if someone wants it. People can bring their pets to live with them, and families are welcome to visit-there's even space for hospice care, so loved ones can spend important time together as needed. Heatherwood's staff are known for being caring, friendly, and knowing each person really well, so care plans and nutrition are tailored, and the home is always kept clean, even though the building's on the older side, and weekly laundry and housekeeping help keep things in order. They've got special plans for folks who may wander or are at risk of falling, so safety's a top concern, and all utilities except for phone and cable are included each month, though some things like salon services or rides out cost extra. Right down the street, you'll find shops and restaurants for easy outings, and the building, being single-story, means anyone can move about more freely. The way things are set up-with open gathering rooms, places for visitors, and plenty of staff-it really supports folks in living a full life while staying as independent as possible, with the kind of care and respect families want for their loved ones dealing with memory loss.
