I toured this brand-new, upscale community and was impressed - modern, stylish design with a bright, sunny lobby, piano, and a WOW view of Mt. Diablo. The staff are warm and responsive, units are elegant and spotless, and the restaurant/bar serves delicious, healthy meals; great amenities and a secure, cheerful atmosphere - my mom is happy here.

    Summary of reviews

Sequoia Living Viamonte at Walnut Creek is presented as a newly built, upscale senior living community with a strong emphasis on design, dining, and amenities. Reviewers consistently describe the property as bright, modern, and well maintained, with luxury touches (piano in the lobby, elegant common spaces) and attractive views such as Mt. Diablo. Units and public areas receive positive comments for cleanliness and contemporary finishes, and the site layout and location are seen as convenient for families.

Care and staff impressions are mixed but generally positive for direct caregiving: many accounts emphasize warm, helpful, and responsive staff who make residents feel well cared for. These reports support the impression that clinical and daily care needs are met competently. However, a recurring operational theme is inconsistency at the reception and administrative interface — reviewers describe a lack of warmth or greeting at the front desk and occasional awkward check-in experiences. Additionally, contact channels (for example, an online contact form) have been described as unreliable, indicating potential gaps in administrative responsiveness or visitor experience management.

Dining is frequently cited as a clear strength. Multiple comments highlight delicious, well-presented meals, healthy options, and an on-site restaurant/bar that create a restaurant-like experience. For prospective residents who prioritize food quality and variety, dining appears to be a strong selling point of the community.

Programming and activities received less positive attention. Some reviewers characterize social programming as minimal, suggesting that activity variety and frequency may not match the upscale physical environment for all residents. Combined with the facility's premium price point, this creates a trade-off prospective residents and families should evaluate: high-quality spaces and dining versus potentially limited organized programming.

For families touring Viamonte, it is advisable to observe front-desk interactions and test administrative contact methods, ask for a current activities calendar with attendance and frequency details, and obtain a clear breakdown of fees relative to included services. The overall picture is of a stylish, well-appointed community with strong dining and many amenities, paired with operational areas — primarily reception/customer-service consistency, administrative responsiveness, and activity breadth — that prospective residents should verify meet their expectations.

About Sequoia Living Viamonte at Walnut Creek

Sequoia Living Viamonte at Walnut Creek sits right next to shaded woodlands and connects directly to The Orchards, a center full of shops, restaurants, and outdoor spaces, so residents get both calm surroundings and easy access to stores and cafes. The community serves people who are at least 60 years old and is run by Sequoia Living, which has been in nonprofit retirement services for over 60 years. As a Life Plan Community, also called a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Viamonte has nearly 200 architecturally distinctive homes, offering one- and two-bedroom floor plans that allow for both privacy and community activities.

The Department of Social Services licenses Viamonte under license number 79201006, and the community provides several levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, foster care, and specialized memory care for older adults. The building itself has safety and handicap features, sprinkler systems, washers and dryers, and cable TV access. Common spaces are well-designed to help residents meet and interact, while private living areas give each person plenty of room for themselves. Amenities here include cleaning and kitchen/kitchenette service, laundry and dry cleaning, secure parking, Wi-Fi, and cable TV, and the monthly fee covers most daily needs like meals, utilities, linen service, housekeeping, and transportation.

Dining stands out with club-style spaces, a bistro bar, alfresco areas, guest dining, and a chef-led menu that offers seasonal and healthy options both indoors and outdoors. The community features a fitness center, pool, spa, game and activity rooms, art studio, technology center, exhibition kitchen, and a bocce court. There's also a full-service salon and barbershop, housekeeping, room service, and transportation, including a shuttle to the BART station for trips into the Bay Area. Residents have access to various programs like arts and crafts, educational events, wellness activities, and social gatherings, with a focus on keeping everyone active, well, and engaged, and staff can help with medication, daily care, and therapy services if needed, with 24-hour emergency response in place.

Viamonte allows pets under a set policy and permits overnight guests for up to 14 days without special approval, even offering guest rooms and rollaway beds. Residents can keep their current doctors and use long-term care insurance for coverage. An entrance fee, which is 75% refundable, secures a home for life and there's a 90-day cancellation for a full refund if plans change early on. Various contract choices include partial refundable entrance fees. Residents pay one monthly fee for a long list of services, and the community rates high with a 4.8-star average from 8 reviews online. Viamonte also provides resources for long-term care, family caregiving, and insurance, making planning easier for families.

Alongside all these services, Viamonte offers an environment built for healthy aging and personal growth. Residents can take part in many activities or just enjoy the landscaped grounds, spa, fitness facilities, and outdoor lounges. The design and choice of amenities promote independence, connection, and active living, giving seniors several ways to find purpose and comfort in daily life.
