    Immaculate facility, caring skilled staff

I felt immediately at ease - immaculate, bright, roomy facility with a warm, welcoming staff. The nurses, CNAs, aides and PT/OT team were attentive, highly skilled and genuinely caring (management - Ty/Tyler - was responsive and night nursing hours have increased under new ownership), and they helped my mother regain mobility and return home. Staff went above and beyond with thoughtful activities and nutritious meals. My only caveats: I heard about occasional high turnover, some reports of discrimination and a few room/food/overnight response issues, so I recommend a tour and asking about insurance and night coverage. Overall, I highly recommend this facility.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews for Tice Valley Post Acute are strongly positive in aggregate, with recurring praise for the quality of clinical care, rehabilitation therapies, cleanliness, and staff compassion. A majority of reviewers describe excellent outcomes—especially successful PT/OT programs that helped residents regain mobility and return home—and highlight a warm, community-focused atmosphere. Many reviewers explicitly state they would highly recommend the facility, cite it as their top choice among skilled nursing facilities, and emphasize gratefulness for the care their loved ones received.

Care quality and staff: The most consistent theme is attentiveness and clinical competence of the care team. Nurses, CNAs, aides and therapists are repeatedly described as gentle, skilled, and professional. Multiple reviewers named specific staff members (for example: Reba, Preet, Shirley, Tara, John, Alice, Jasmine, Ella, Lesley, Angelica, Saj, Roxy, Landrith, Fatu, Sondra, Alyssa, Amanda, Shirley, Eric, Jane) as standouts, and a wound nurse (Tara) and therapy staff were singled out for particularly effective care. Reviewers report that staff go “above and beyond,” demonstrate empathy, keep families informed, and create a sense of belonging for residents. There are several notes that the facility is an excellent workplace with ongoing learning opportunities, which reviewers connect to the high level of resident care.

Rehabilitation, activities and outcomes: Therapy services receive exceptionally strong praise across many reviews. PT and OT are described as outstanding, encouraging, and oriented toward returning residents home safely. People report measurable improvements in mobility and functional independence. The facility’s activities program is also noted as engaging and varied—examples include obstacle courses, cooking classes, group activities, and gym-based therapy—contributing to both physical recovery and social engagement.

Facilities and dining: Many reviewers emphasize that the facility is clean, modern, spotless, and well organized, with spacious, beautifully designed common areas and rooms that promote social interaction. Multiple comments highlight nutritious, tasty, and tailored meals and attentive dietary care; however, there are a few contrasting reports that describe poor-quality food. Overall the dominant impression is of a well-maintained, welcoming environment that supports recovery and community-building.

Management and communication: Several reviews praise management for being accessible, communicative and responsive (administrator “Ty”/Tyler and others receive positive mentions). Families frequently note that management and staff keep them involved and informed. Some reviewers also remark that new ownership increased night nursing hours, which they view as a positive operational change.

Notable concerns and conflicting patterns: While positive themes strongly dominate, a subset of reviews raises serious concerns that cannot be ignored. Several reviewers allege harassment and discrimination under new management (specifically referencing Tyler McPherson in some comments) and claim discrimination based on insurance status and harassment of people of color. There are also reports of high staff turnover (comments that about eight nurses left), and allegations that some residents were forced to leave the facility. These are significant accusations and represent an important pattern of negative feedback that contrasts sharply with other reviewers’ praise of management and staff. Additionally, some families reported practical issues such as poor room condition, dated or thrift-store furniture, TV problems, an uncomfortable chair, and roommate noise (for example a roommate on a noisy ventilator). Night-time responsiveness has mixed reports—some reviewers say night nursing access improved, while at least one noted difficulty reaching a nurse at night.

Synthesis and recommendation: In sum, the predominant experience described is of a high-quality skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility with compassionate staff, effective therapy programs, strong cleanliness standards, and an active social environment. These strengths are repeatedly tied to positive outcomes like safe discharges home and improved mobility. However, the serious allegations around management behavior, discrimination, staff turnover, and resident displacement—though reported by a minority of reviewers—are material concerns that deserve further investigation by prospective residents and families. Anyone considering Tice Valley Post Acute should weigh the strong clinical and environmental positives, verify current management practices and staffing stability, ask specific questions about night staffing and roommate arrangements, and, if possible, request recent references or speak with current families to confirm that the troubling reports have been addressed.
