    Spotless facility, caring family-like staff

I placed my mother here and I'm very pleased. The facility is amazing and spotless, staff are kind, caring and truly family-like, and the level of care is excellent. Meals are Cuban cuisine delivered from a local restaurant and are enjoyable. I highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture of Calusa Adult Care Inc. Positive comments consistently highlight the home's cleanliness, a welcoming first impression, and a family-like culture created by caring and kind staff. Several families characterized the environment as well maintained and praised staff compassion and individualized attention. Some reviewers specifically recommended the facility and described the care they experienced as high quality.

Staffing and day-to-day care emerge as the primary area of concern. Multiple reviewers described high staff turnover and an unfavorable caregiver-to-resident ratio; these characteristics are associated with inconsistent care continuity and frequent use of different caregivers. Reviewers also described staff being occupied with housekeeping, laundry, and meal tasks, which reviewers felt reduced available time for direct resident interaction and supervision. There are also comments implying gaps in staff training and skill mix, which contribute to variability in care quality.

Dining and programming are distinctive but limited. Meals are often provided by a local/Cuban restaurant rather than prepared on-site, which some families liked for flavor and authenticity. At the same time, reviewers noted limited menu variation and an absence of a diverse meal program. Activity programming is another consistent limitation: multiple reviewers cited little or no organized activities, and some noted that pandemic-related constraints further reduced engagement opportunities. Outdoor access assistance was described as limited, restricting resident participation in outside activities.

Facility presentation and cleanliness are strong points, but operational and management patterns raise questions for prospective families. The combination of high turnover, staffing allocation toward non-direct tasks, limited activity offerings, and at least one safety-related event that required emergency care suggests potential weaknesses in supervision, incident response, and workforce stability. Those considering this facility should ask management about current caregiver-to-resident ratios by shift, staff tenure and training programs, how direct care time is prioritized, the source and menu cycle for meals, activity schedules (including outdoor access plans), and policies for incident reporting and emergency response. Doing so will help clarify whether the positive aspects noted in some reviews are consistent with current operations and whether the identified operational weaknesses have been addressed.
