    Professional bilingual staff spotless facility

I placed my mother here and I'm very satisfied - the administration, nurses, CNAs and aides were professional, compassionate, bilingual and kept our family informed. The facility is new, spotless and well maintained with excellent food, daily cleaning/laundry, meals-to-room, a salon, lake views and abundant activities (music, exercise, outings). Overall a caring, organized community that improved my mother's health and social life and gave us real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

The Residences of United Home Care presents as a recently built, well-maintained assisted living community with many operational strengths. Reviewers consistently highlight a clean, bright environment with modern finishes, ADA-compliant bathrooms, and private studio options that include kitchenettes and lake views. The facility’s infrastructure—such as full-building backup for power and HVAC—receives positive mention, and there are a number of on-site amenities (salon, library, computer room) that contribute to convenience for residents and families.

Care quality is often described positively: families report compassionate, attentive caregivers, conscientious nursing staff, and active social-work involvement. Several accounts indicate measurable resident improvements in mood, weight, and social engagement. The community supports Spanish-speaking residents through bilingual staff and programming, which families identified as an important fit. At the same time, reviewers also raise operational concerns about consistency of staff conduct and communication, along with perceptions of high staff turnover; prospective families should evaluate staffing continuity, language-match, and handoff practices during a tour.

Dining and activities are recurring strengths. Dining is characterized as high-quality with flexible options including room service, and the kitchen and dining staff earn frequent praise. The activities program is extensive—daily exercise, arts and crafts, games, live music, outings, and Alzheimer’s-focused programming—which many residents and families find engaging. Some residents would like more daytime variety, more frequent live music, and a wider range of movie or entertainment options, suggesting room to expand scheduling and programming breadth.

Safety and management present mixed signals. While some reviewers cite 24/7 security and close attention to resident needs, others describe gaps in perimeter/egress controls, elevator reliability, and emergency-response protocols (including delays in summoning external emergency services). These point to facility-level operational weaknesses around egress monitoring, equipment maintenance, and emergency escalation procedures. Additionally, a number of reviewers expressed concerns about management transparency and marketing accuracy; there are occasional, serious-sounding allegations regarding administrative practices and review authenticity that merit direct inquiry.

Aesthetic and lifestyle factors are subjective but notable: the building’s design is frequently described as modern, bright, and resort-like, yet several families find the interior somewhat institutional or sterile rather than home-like. Long hallways and the building layout were identified as potential mobility and evacuation challenges for frail residents. Outdoor space is present (lake, small patio) but may be limited relative to the building scale.

Overall, United Home Care appears to offer a high level of day-to-day housekeeping, attractive facilities, a strong dining program, and a broad activities calendar supported by caring staff—factors that many families cited as improving resident well-being and providing peace of mind. However, consistent follow-up questions are advisable: ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, observe security and emergency-response procedures (including elevator maintenance and egress monitoring), review activity schedules for daytime variety, and request documentation about marketing, waitlist handling, and any recent corrective actions. These checks will help determine whether the facility’s operational practices align with the positive aspects described by many families and the specific concerns raised by others.

About The Residences of United Home Care

The Residences of United Home Care is a four-story, modern senior living community in West Kendall, Miami, built by a top South Florida architect with plenty of natural light and ADA-compliant features in each room, and you'll find 122 studio and one-bedroom units, all with private bathrooms and galley kitchenettes, along with some companion rooms if that's what's needed, fully furnished and ready for move-in. This large, 155-bed facility covers many different kinds of senior care under one roof, so folks can choose assisted living, memory care, independent living, home care, skilled nursing, or respite care; and they'll get help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, transfers, diabetes care, medication management, and incontinence if they need it, with 12-16 hour nursing support and round-the-clock caregiving staff on site for safety and supervision, which gives families some peace of mind. Residents have access to both United Home Care programs and a teaching assisted living residence, supporting good care by involving students from Florida International University, the University of Miami, and Miami-Dade College, and everyone gets a personalized care plan which can include help with medical appointments, non-ambulatory care, and daily chores, while some just get a bit of support with independence and want the strong community atmosphere. Amenities fill the building, with a dining room serving nutritious, chef-prepared meals and special diets, a café, a fitness and wellness center with organized wellness programs, a beauty salon and barbershop, a library with up-to-date books, a game room, a business center, a garden, outdoor walking paths, and easy access to high-speed Wi-Fi and private cable TV. The big building is reliably storm-safe and LEED®-certified, with its own backup generator for emergencies, and every apartment has an emergency call system and air conditioning, so everybody stays safe and comfortable. There's scheduled daily activities, movie nights, resident-run clubs, trips out to local shopping or dining, arts and music programs, computer classes, and a holistic approach encourages physical, mental, and spiritual wellness for all, because it's just as important to stay engaged as it is to stay healthy. Housekeeping, laundry, and all-inclusive pricing mean residents don't have to worry about extra chores or hidden fees, and the supportive staff help coordinate appointments and transportation, with the facility offering chauffeured rides to local medical centers, town centers, errands, and community events within ten miles, which really helps keep folks connected. The Residences of United Home Care has a friendly, supportive environment, recognized for compassionate services and a tradition of affordable, quality care by the nonprofit United Homecare, serving South Florida seniors since 1974; there's always a helpful staff member nearby to assist, and the building's designed to feel welcoming, with elegant lounges and outdoor spaces to relax, socialize, and enjoy a sense of community.
