    Safe, welcoming independent living environment

I live in a clean, quiet one-bedroom close to shopping and the highways. The manager is very helpful, food assistance lets me stay independent, and I feel safe and welcomed-overall very satisfied.

    Summary of reviews

Drexel House Apartments appears to function primarily as an independent-living option with one-bedroom units and an emphasis on resident autonomy. Multiple comments highlight a clean, quiet environment and a convenient location near shopping and major highways, which may suit residents who value independence and easy access to community resources. Several reviewers described management staff as helpful and friendly, and there is mention of food-assistance support for residents who need help with groceries or meal preparation.

At the same time, the facility offers limited service-oriented supports. There is no on-site communal dining program, and organized activities or recreation appear to be minimal or absent. These service gaps suggest the property is better suited to individuals who are independent in daily living and do not require structured meals or extensive programming. Management coverage is another operational constraint: reviewers noted a lack of weekend managerial presence, which could affect responsiveness for operational or administrative needs during those times.

Facility condition and atmosphere are mixed in the feedback. While many find the property well maintained and quiet, some describe an institutional or dated aesthetic and an unwelcoming ambiance in parts of the building. An isolated safety concern was raised, indicating prospective residents and families should ask about the facility’s security measures and incident-response procedures before committing. Overall, the pattern suggests a generally clean, low‑activity independent‑living community with strengths in location and staff approachability, balanced against limited on-site services, aging decor, and gaps in weekend coverage and certain safety protocols.

Prospective residents should clarify key operational details during a visit: whether meals or expanded food services can be arranged, the scope of available activities, weekend staffing plans, and written information on security and emergency response. These checks will help determine whether the community’s independent-living model aligns with an individual’s care, social, and safety needs.

    About Drexel House Apartments

Drexel Apartments sits in a busy part of town where seniors can easily walk to cafes, parks, pharmacies, restaurants, doctors, and even theaters, so people who like to get out and about find plenty to do right nearby, and public transportation is close which helps folks without cars get around, and there are 100 one-bedroom apartments here, big enough for people with lots of belongings, but you won't find things like regular meals served or planned recreational activities included, so everyone needs to take care of their own food and fun, which suits independent types best. The building is government-subsidized, so it's more affordable than many other places, and you've got support from a manager known for being friendly and going out of her way to help, like making sure seniors get food deliveries and helping arrange social time, and folks say the management is caring, often doing more than the job asks. There's a nice atmosphere and people seem to look out for one another, but while staff help informally during the week, there's no supervision on weekends, so if someone falls or has a health problem then, help might not arrive quickly, which is something to keep in mind for people needing more care or who worry about emergencies when alone. Drexel Apartments doesn't offer help with bills, and formal support services are limited, so it's best for people who can manage on their own but who like having neighbors around and being close to the heart of town. The apartments were built back in 1984 and cover a good amount of space, about 45,000 square feet, and everything from rent history to occupancy can be checked in reports, though that's usually for people interested in the property numbers. Reviews put the community around a 4-star rating, and there's information available for seniors and families searching for options, plus people can get guidance from a senior living advisor if they need it.
