    Incompetent staff, unsafe, unstable facility

I had a terrible experience. Staff were incompetent, rude, and dismissive, and nurses/caregivers failed to respond properly in emergencies. They can't keep an administrator, the place feels unstable, and the outdoor area is bare—the sidewalk even awkwardly circles a tree. I would not recommend Nice.

    About Ashley Manor Memory Care

Ashley Manor Memory Care in Caldwell, Idaho, is a small, home-like residential care facility with 11 assisted living units and a strong focus on providing specialized memory care for seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments, and what you find when you walk in are spaces that feel more like a house than a hospital, with small studios or one-bedroom apartments, circular walking paths, secure backyards, and memory boxes outside each room to help residents find their way and feel at home. The care team has over two decades of healthcare experience and always works to treat each resident with dignity, respect, and kindness, while following a personalized care plan that aims to maintain routines and comfort, with the staff offering help with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, medication, incontinence care, and transfers, along with case management and coordination with health providers as needed, and they've set up a 24-hour support system that includes supervision, call systems, and on-call nursing assistance for safety day and night.

Ashley Manor uses evidence-based sensory therapies, offering Aroma Therapy with special oils, Music Therapy that fits the residents' tastes, Light Therapy that mimics natural sunlight to help with sleep and mood, and Hydration Therapy, which aims to keep residents healthy and steady on their feet, reduce infections, and lessen behaviors often seen with memory loss, and they also use Reminiscence Therapy, a set of activities designed to stimulate memories and keep the brain active; all these therapies can help residents feel more calm, engaged, and comfortable. The facility keeps a busy schedule of activities to keep minds and bodies working, from movement and arts and crafts in the arts room, to movie nights, and community-sponsored events in a shared dining or lounge space, with staff always encouraging participation for social engagement, plus there are trips for groceries and transportation services, and a beauty shop and greenhouse on-site so residents don't have to leave for these things.

Chef-prepared meals are made daily, and the staff dietitian pays attention to special diets if needed, so everyone gets nutritious food that's also meant to taste good, with snacks and mealtime assistance available, and for folks needing short-term or respite care, there's an option for temporary stays. Housekeeping, linen, and laundry services are included, and the rooms come fully furnished with amenities like cable TV, wifi, kitchenettes, and telephones, and both private and semi-private suites are available, with some functions specially set up to help those with limited mobility, such as wheelchair accessibility and assistance for non-ambulatory residents.

Safety is central here, with high-tech alarm systems, 24-hour emergency response, and secured outdoor areas so people can walk outside on the tranquil walking paths or patios without worry, and there's a focus on minimizing wandering and behaviors linked to dementia by designing the space and routines to reduce confusion and promote a sense of peace. The community supports all sorts of care needs all the way from custom care plans and Parkinson's care to hospice and home health services, and they can provide spoon-feeding and continence management if a resident needs that level of help. Special programs help residents with mild cognitive impairment, and they've added support for mental wellness, along with medication management to keep things on track.

Ashley Manor Memory Care was started by people who went through the challenge of finding good memory care for loved ones and wanted a better option, and this intention shows in the way they keep a calm, nurturing, and community-oriented atmosphere where residents are seen as individuals, and families say it brings them peace of mind knowing their loved one is looked after by a staff that acts like extended family, and while it's generally a more affordable choice than full nursing home care, it's licensed in Idaho as a Residential Care Facility with 11 licensed beds, but doesn't specifically mention acceptance of Medicare unless the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certify them, so you'd want to check that detail directly. The facility connects with support groups like the Alzheimer's Association and provides resources for families, and folks interested can take a tour or look into guides like their "8 Tips to Choosing a Memory Care Facility," and besides the main Caldwell location, they also have the Ashley Manor Crescent facility and a branch in Meridian.

The main goal at Ashley Manor is to give seniors with memory issues a safe, comfortable place to live with as much independence as possible, backed by trained caregivers, structured routines, and therapies that help enhance quality of life, and what's really noticeable is the quiet sense of care that flows through everything, from the circular walking paths and home-cooked meals to the efforts made to reduce distress and support both residents and their families through the changes that come with memory loss.
