    Caring staff but safety concerns

I've had a mostly positive experience: the staff and nurses are caring, knowledgeable, attentive (excellent ostomy support), the facility is beautiful, cozy, very clean and in a peaceful location, and new leadership has improved care and engagement. That said, I've seen poor supervision, maintenance issues, visitation hiccups and there are reports of neglect/unsafe incidents that concern me. Overall I'd cautiously recommend for the staff and setting, but advise asking about staffing, safety and room upkeep before committing.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is mixed but leans positive for day-to-day caregiving, interpersonal interactions, and the social atmosphere. A substantial number of reviewers highlight the staff as the facility's strongest asset: nurses, aides, social workers, and administration are repeatedly described as caring, attentive, professional, and respectful. Multiple accounts praise staff for listening to families, responding timely to questions, maintaining residents' dignity, and providing specialized clinical help such as ostomy care and pain management. Many reviewers felt relief and trust placing loved ones in Cherry Ridge of Cascadia and explicitly recommended the facility, noting a warm, country-home ambiance and a close-knit resident community.

Clinical care and service quality emerge as strengths in several areas. Reviewers cite knowledgeable nursing staff, good bedside manner, and care that supports both short-term rehabilitation and long-term stays. Family members described personalized attention, involvement in holiday activities, and staff who go above and beyond for residents. Housekeeping and cleanliness receive frequent praise; many reviews call the facility extremely clean and well maintained, and the dining is characterized as tasty and nutritious with a decent menu. The facility's smaller size and lovely location away from the city are also viewed positively for providing a peaceful environment and more individual attention.

Despite many positive reports, significant and serious concerns appear in multiple reviews and must be noted. Several reviewers reported poor supervision, neglect, or unsafe incidents—some used very strong terms (unsafe, disgraceful, injury risk). There are specific, alarming allegations of staff slapping residents and lack of sufficient monitoring. These are contrasted with other accounts that attest to compassionate care, indicating inconsistent experiences between shifts, staff members, or time periods. These safety-related complaints are severe and suggest variability in standards of supervision and possibly staffing or training problems that should be investigated further.

Facility conditions and management receive mixed feedback. A number of reviews praise recent changes under new leadership, saying management is engaged and quality of care has improved; others call management a "joke" or criticize training and oversight. Physical plant issues are also reported: some reviewers note poor building maintenance, outdated beds and rooms that need paint, and infrequent cleaning in certain instances. This contrasts with multiple accounts of excellent housekeeping and overall cleanliness, pointing again to inconsistency—some parts of the facility or certain times may be well maintained while others are neglected.

Activities and community life are generally viewed positively. An involved activities director, events such as Christmas parties, and unique programming (interaction with ponies) are noted as highlights that contribute to resident engagement and family comfort. These offerings, combined with the cozy, country-style atmosphere, create a sense of home for many residents.

In summary, Cherry Ridge of Cascadia receives many strong endorsements for staff empathy, individualized clinical care, cleanliness, dining, and community feel. At the same time, there are multiple serious negative reports—ranging from management and training shortfalls to allegations of neglect and abuse, as well as inconsistent facility maintenance. The pattern suggests overall capacity for high-quality, compassionate care, but with notable variability and some critical safety and oversight concerns reported by several reviewers. Families and inspectors should weigh the positive, frequent reports of good care against the severity of the negative allegations; follow-up questions about supervision, staffing consistency, incident reporting, and recent changes under new leadership would be prudent for anyone considering placement or evaluating quality of care.
