    Compassionate, attentive care; mom thrived

I placed my mom at Lily/Syringa and she truly thrived. Caring, long-tenured staff made her feel loved, provided attentive bedside and compassionate end-of-life/hospice support, and kept me clearly informed about her day and health. The small, home-like houses are clean, safe (alarms), with hot home-cooked meals, shared living areas and a courtyard - staff consistently go the extra mile. I'm grateful and highly recommend them, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Lily and Syringa Assisted Living is consistently described as a small, home-like provider that emphasizes person-centered care. Reviewers frequently highlight a clean, well-kept environment with shared living spaces (kitchen, living room, courtyard) and two adjacent homes that create a residential rather than institutional feel. Safety features such as alarms and attentive bedside practices were mentioned, and families noted seamless admissions and transfers into the setting.

Care quality is a prominent strength. Multiple accounts describe compassionate, attentive CNAs and nurses who provide dignity-focused support, particularly for residents with memory-care needs. Long staff tenure and consistent caregiver assignments were reported to promote familiarity and continuity, and family members praised staff who go “the extra mile.” Hospice and end-of-life supports were described as compassionate and respectful, with staff providing bedside attention and family support during difficult times.

Dining and facilities are generally viewed positively. The facility is described as clean and well maintained, with hot, home-cooked meals and positive mealtime interactions. The smaller scale and domestic layout — shared common areas and a courtyard — supports social interaction and a sense of being at home. Reviewers noted administrators and directors who are present and attentive to residents and families.

Management and communication show mixed patterns. Many families described clear updates about daily activities and health status, and praised prompt accommodations on admission. However, there are also accounts indicating inconsistent follow-up and variability in administrative responsiveness and tone. That variability appears to be the primary operational concern: while many families feel reassured by staff communication and leadership, others experienced delays or found management less approachable.

Activities and programming are less detailed in the reviews; the available descriptions emphasize informal, home-style socialization in common areas rather than a large roster of structured activities. Overall, the pattern across reviews points to a facility that delivers warm, individualized care in a small, domestic setting with reliable clinical and hospice supports. Prospective families should consider confirming communication expectations and administrative points of contact during the tour to ensure the facility’s communication style matches their needs.

About Lily and Syringa Assisted Living

Lily and Syringa Assisted Living sits in Idaho Falls off 1st Street and focuses on both memory care and assisted living for older adults. The community serves Southeast Idaho and houses a small number of residents-usually 12 to 16 per building-which lets staff give more one-on-one care and helps everyone feel at home. The facility accepts people aged 55 and up, and has mixed suites available, from private and shared rooms to studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, with choices for furnished or unfurnished spaces. Safety's a big focus here, so every building has alarm systems, a gated entrance, sprinkler system, and several safety and handicap features, which all help residents feel secure and stop wandering, especially for people with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia. There's around-the-clock care, with certified nursing assistants and staff specially trained in memory loss, plus a part-time licensed nurse is on staff and there's always a doctor on call. Most caregivers have extra training in CPR and first aid, and everyone receives ongoing lessons in ethics and dementia care.

Residents get help with daily living needs like meals, medication, dressing, bathing, transfers, and more. There's daily housekeeping, laundry and dry cleaning, as well as transportation for doctor visits, shopping, and group outings. The facility has an emergency alert system and offers supervision 24 hours a day, so families can trust that someone's always nearby if help's needed. For meals, the kitchen serves home-cooked, dietitian-approved food three times a day, including snacks and diets for diabetes, allergies, or special nutrition needs. Residents can choose to eat in the dining room with all-day restaurant-style service, and there are kitchenettes in some rooms for those who want them. The grounds include walking paths, outdoor and indoor gardens, and outdoor sitting areas, and inside you'll find a game room, fitness center, salon and barber shop, arts room, and entertainment spaces for group activities, arts, crafts, music, and movie nights. Many programs are set up to encourage movement, mental activity, and socializing, with health and wellness programs built for seniors' needs. The staff also set up religious services offsite and offer devotional support for those who ask.

Memory care services here cover everything from personalized care plans to tailored activities, and the environment aims to reduce confusion for those with dementia or Alzheimer's. Staff are friendly and helpful, sometimes described as hard workers who are patient and look out for residents' needs, especially when memory problems make it tough for people to speak up for themselves. Residents can get specialty care for things like diabetes, incontinence, mobility challenges, and non-ambulatory needs, which means people can usually stay at Lily and Syringa even as their health changes. Housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance are part of the package, along with resident and guest parking, WiFi, cable TV, and community-sponsored activities that range from fitness classes to movie nights.

Payment options include private pay, social security, insurance, and veteran's benefits, with separate fees for community, respite, buy-in, and extra care, as well as options for all-inclusive rent. The community offers help with finances, including advice for home sales and payment planning. Family members can use tools and online systems to stay updated and get tips about care, and the team encourages frequent visits and helps families adjust during move-in or end-of-life care. Aging in place, respite stays, and a supportive environment help residents live as independently as possible while getting needed support. Lily and Syringa is Gold Star rated by the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare, offers both private and shared rooms, and focuses on a safe, warm, and clean community where seniors can enjoy social, fitness, and wellness activities every day, whether they're mostly independent or need full memory care.
