    Personalized clean caring Alzheimer's care

I placed my mother in this small, family-like facility and I'm very pleased with the one-to-one, personalized care - the staff are caring, friendly (they even called me by name) and treated her very well. The place is immaculate: clean rooms, spotless kitchen, nice dining room with good food, and hair services available. The doctor is knowledgeable and it's well suited for end-stage Alzheimer's, though not ideal for very active residents. Activities are limited, there's no transportation and internal communication can be inconsistent, but costs are affordable. Overall, I highly recommend it.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is positive with consistent praise for the quality of direct care, the cleanliness of the facility, and the warm, family-like attitude of staff. Multiple reviewers emphasize that Harbor Assisted Living is a small, intimate facility that enables personalized one-to-one attention and an individualized care approach. Care quality is repeatedly described as very good — residents are treated kindly, staff members are helpful and call residents by name, and several reviewers specifically note that the facility is appropriate for end-stage Alzheimer’s care. The presence of a knowledgeable doctor and frequent recommendations from families further reinforce the perception that medical and day-to-day care are reliable and attentive.

Facility and amenities receive strong marks: the building, rooms, and especially the kitchen are described as very clean or immaculate, and the dining room is noted as pleasant. Food quality is consistently described as good, and there are on-site grooming options such as hair services, which add convenience and a sense of comprehensive personal care. Reviewers frequently mention a family-like atmosphere and that staff treated residents — in one case a reviewer’s mother — very well, which contributes to a sense of emotional comfort and safety for residents and families.

The main negative themes are consistent and should be considered by prospective residents and families. The activities program is frequently described as lacking or insufficient; several reviewers specifically call out that the facility is not well suited for very active individuals. Related to this, there is no transportation service available, which could limit residents’ access to outside activities, appointments, or family visits. A few reviewers point to minor internal communication gaps among staff, which suggests occasional coordination or information-sharing issues that could impact care continuity or administrative interactions. Cost perceptions are mixed: while some reviewers note affordability, others raise concerns about cost, indicating that value or pricing expectations may vary among families.

In summary, Harbor Assisted Living appears to be a strong option for individuals who require close, personalized care — particularly those with advanced memory-care needs — and for families who value a clean facility and a compassionate, family-like staff. The facility’s strengths lie in one-on-one attention, cleanliness, on-site personal services, and solid dining and medical support. However, those seeking an active lifestyle, robust activities programming, or transportation support should carefully evaluate whether Harbor can meet those needs. Prospective families should ask specific questions about activity schedules, transportation options, and how staff communication is managed, and clarify costs to determine whether the facility’s offerings and pricing align with their expectations.

    About Harbor Assisted Living

Harbor Assisted Living sits at 2308 E Harbour Grove Dr in Nampa, Idaho, tucked into the Island Subdivision off Greenhurst, and you'll find it's got a small, home-like feel with only 12 beds and 8 baths, so folks tend to get to know each other around here, and you'll see they've got both private and semi-private rooms; some rooms are in the nursing home section, and others in assisted or independent living, plus they can help with memory care if it's needed, and rates depend on what kind of room or service you need-nursing home private rooms run from $7,000 to $8,000 a month, while memory care studio apartments come in between $4,500 and $5,800, and if you're looking for a studio or a single room in the assisted or independent area it's less, like between $2,000 and $5,500 a month, and you get the idea, there's a place and a plan for different needs and budgets. The building itself feels safe, with handicap features and sprinkler systems, there's Wi-Fi and cable TV, washers and dryers, and kitchens or kitchenettes, and they do maintenance and housekeeping so you don't have to worry about that. You'll find spaces to gather like game and activities rooms, dining rooms, and even a large fenced-in backyard with a walking path, waterfalls, flowers, and spots to sit outside, so there's a real garden feel to it. Folks can get their hair fixed at the onsite salon or barber, spend quiet hours in indoor or outdoor common areas, and there's always guest parking if someone wants to drop by. The staff can help with a lot, whether it's bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, or even wound care, and you've got nurse visits, medication support, podiatry, occupational therapy, and even long-term care insurance options, with home health care and hospice if you need it. If you need to go somewhere, transportation's available, and they offer respite stays and adult day care which can help families get a little break or keep someone active through the day. There's a set of structured social activities, arts and crafts, health and wellness programs, and educational groups, which help give everyone a good reason to be with others. The meals are prepared onsite and served in the dining rooms, so there's no need to cook unless you want to try out the kitchenettes. The community gets an average rating of about 4.5 to 5 stars across several reviews, and folks say it's got a peaceful, family-oriented atmosphere with a calming environment, and you can see that with the way the backyard and landscape have been set up. Memory care here is tailored and in a secure area, built for people with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and there's also support for independent living if that's more the need, along with adult day services. Harbor Assisted Living covers a bit of everything for senior care-whether it's in-home non-medical care, skilled nursing, or help with daily life-and you'll find similar spots nearby like Streamside Assisted Living and The Cottages of Nampa, so there's a real cluster of community options in that part of Nampa. This place isn't flashy, but it's known for being supportive, homelike, and clear in what's offered, which might be what matters most.
