    Good rehab and attentive staff

I placed my mom here and overall I'm pleased - the staff are kind, patient and professional (Jonathan, Kristen, Judy and Susan stood out), and the PT/OT/speech team is excellent for rehab. The building feels clean, recently remodeled and home-like, with plenty of activities, outings and friendly residents. Food and menus are hit-or-miss (some praise, but others report small portions, repetitive or overcooked meals), and I've seen occasional housekeeping, maintenance and security delays that should be checked. I'd recommend it for rehab and attentive care, but verify meal quality, cleanliness and independent-living fit first.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Sunny Ridge are mixed but lean positive around staffing, rehabilitation services, and community supports. A substantial portion of reviewers praise the facility for its strong rehab program, attentive therapy staff, and compassionate nursing and CNA teams. Multiple reviewers singled out physical therapists (Jonathan among them), occupational therapy staff (Christian), and administrative advocates (Susan) as providing excellent, attentive care and communication. For residents admitted for short-term rehab or skilled nursing, many families reported successful recoveries, skilled therapy, and a safe healing environment.

Care quality and staff: The dominant positive theme across the reviews is the staff: described repeatedly as friendly, caring, professional, and family-like. Nursing, CNAs, and therapists receive many specific commendations; some reviewers state they were treated “like family” and that staff went above and beyond. Communication by certain staff members and the therapy team is often praised, and several reviewers explicitly recommended Sunny Ridge on the strength of the staff/therapy teams. However, these positive experiences coexist with concerning counterexamples: a number of reviews report unprofessional behavior, neglect, or safety lapses by staff in specific instances. These negative accounts include delayed responses to problems, poor hygiene care, and at least one serious complaint of mistreatment. The pattern suggests variability in care quality depending on shift, unit, or individual caregivers.

Rehabilitation and therapy: Rehab is a clear strength. Multiple reviewers described the facility as “rehab-focused” with excellent physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Specific therapists (Jonathan, Kristen, Judy) are repeatedly praised for effective therapy and good outcomes. Many families said they would return specifically for rehab services, indicating consistent success in short-term skilled care and recovery planning.

Facilities and environment: Comments about the physical plant are mixed. Several reviewers describe Sunny Ridge as clean, tidy, and recently remodeled in parts, with attractive communal spaces (large assembly area, grand piano mentioned) and useful amenities like a library, activity rooms, exercise room, and meeting spaces. Transportation services, laundry facilities, hair salon, and on-site outings are frequently noted as positives that support independence and quality of life. At the same time, other reviewers report dated areas, cramped rooms, and uneven renovation progress. Remodeling work appears to be ongoing and has reduced activity or caused disruption in some areas. Several residents cited small studio units with limited kitchen facilities (no fridge/coffee pot/sink), and some suggested adding a kitchenette as an improvement. Semi-private rooms with a dividing wall were appreciated for privacy in some clinical units, while other families found the shared accommodations lacking in autonomy and personal space.

Dining and housekeeping: Dining receives mixed reviews. Some families enjoyed the meals, appreciated dietary accommodations, and found menus nutritious. Yet a substantial cluster of reviews cites poor food quality: repetitive menus, overcooked food, small portions, cold meals, and limited options (peanut butter and jelly noted as a recurring offering). Housekeeping is similarly inconsistent in reviews — many praise cleanliness and maintenance, but several report housekeeping lapses such as unswept rooms, unclean tray tables, and staff having to clean overlooked areas. There are reports that some maintenance issues (e.g., toilets) took an unacceptable time to repair.

Activities and community life: Activity programming is frequently cited as a strength: bingo, bongo drums, scheduled outings, church services, and social events help residents stay engaged. Transportation for shopping and medical appointments is a valuable service noted by many reviewers. Some reviewers, however, described limited programming during renovation periods or due to staffing constraints. The social atmosphere is usually described as friendly, with congenial neighbors and a home-like feel for many residents.

Management, responsiveness, and safety: Reviewers are divided on management and responsiveness. Several accounts praise specific administrators and advocates for excellent communication and quick responses, while others say complaints were ignored and issues went unaddressed. There are reports of long waits for meals and poor follow-up when problems are raised. Safety concerns appear episodically in reviews — unlocked doors and maintenance delays led some families to question security and responsiveness. Staffing shortages, when noted, were said to affect timeliness of care and availability of activities.

Patterns and recommendations: The reviews suggest Sunny Ridge provides strong rehabilitation services and benefits from many compassionate, skilled staff members who contribute to positive outcomes and a supportive community. Where Sunny Ridge excels — therapy, attentive individual staff, transportation, and engagement activities — families are highly satisfied and would recommend the facility, particularly for short-term rehab stays. The primary areas for improvement are consistent housekeeping and food quality, responsiveness of management in some cases, completion and coordination of renovations to reduce disruption, and addressing inconsistent staffing so that service levels do not fluctuate. Potential residents and families should expect variability by unit and shift: experiences appear polarized, meaning a tour and direct conversations with therapy, nursing, and housekeeping managers — plus checking recent inspection reports — will help clarify current conditions. For those seeking excellent rehab care and a generally caring staff, Sunny Ridge receives many strong endorsements; for those prioritizing top-tier dining, large private living spaces, or consistently flawless housekeeping and management responsiveness, the facility shows room for improvement.
