    Kind attentive staff, excellent care

I'm very pleased with the care here - staff are kind, professional and genuinely attentive, nursing and therapy are excellent, and the facility is clean, homelike and activity-rich. Food and rehab options were great and my family felt reassured. My only recurring issues were occasional slow response/understaffing and confusing, poorly marked entrances. Overall I highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Life Care Center of Post Falls are strongly mixed but trend positive overall, with a large volume of reviewers praising the staff, rehabilitation services, facility cleanliness, and activity programming. A substantial portion of reviewers describe excellent, compassionate care, especially within nursing and therapy departments, and many explicitly recommend the facility for skilled nursing and rehab stays. At the same time, multiple recurring operational and safety concerns appear across reviews — most notably understaffing, slow response times to call lights, and a handful of serious, specific allegations of neglect and safety lapses. These conflicting but consistent themes suggest a facility that delivers high-quality clinical and therapy services for many residents, while also suffering from systemic staffing and management challenges that have, in some cases, led to harmful incidents for others.

Care quality and staff: The dominant positive theme is the quality and compassion of individual staff members. RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and therapy teams are repeatedly described as caring, professional, attentive, and capable. Reviewers frequently credit the therapy staff with successful rehabilitation outcomes (e.g., knee replacement recovery, walking regained), and many call out the PT department and special equipment as standout resources. Several reviews single out staff who "go above and beyond," and families report frequent, reassuring communication. However, countervailing reports raise red flags: multiple reviewers describe severe understaffing (including one cited ratio of 1 CNA to 21 residents), long waits for assistance, and isolated but serious allegations of neglect (residents left soiled, bruising, forced medication). These negative reports are fewer in number than the positive ones but are severe in nature and therefore important to note.

Therapy, rehab, and outcomes: Rehab and therapy are consistently highlighted as strengths. Reviewers mention excellent physical therapy, well-equipped gym facilities, outpatient PT availability, and specialty equipment such as an aquaciser/underwater treadmill. Many credit therapy staff with rapid and measurable improvements and positive discharge outcomes. This area represents one of the clearest patterns of consistent, positive feedback across reviewers and is frequently tied to the facility’s identity as a premier choice for skilled nursing and rehab in the area.

Facilities, cleanliness and amenities: The facility itself is repeatedly described as clean, well-appointed, and attractive — far from a stereotypical nursing home for many visitors. Positive notes include a homelike atmosphere, courtyard, library, pleasant dining spaces, and well-kept shared bathrooms. Large rooms and good roommate matching are mentioned positively. A few logistical complaints appear around navigation and signage: the entrance was described as poorly marked by some, which resulted in difficulty accessing the correct building or walking in the rain to the wrong location. One reviewer described the layout as "hospital-like," which may reflect personal preference rather than objective deficiency.

Dining and activities: Activity programming is a clear strength: reviewers mention daily/weekly/monthly entertainment, varied exercise programs suitable for different ability levels, social events like ice cream socials and bingo, and a recovery-focused activity schedule. Dining impressions are mixed: numerous reviewers praise tasty, plentiful meals (some by name, e.g., roast pork), while others call the food adequate but bland. Meal assistance and adaptive utensils support are noted positively for residents with special needs.

Safety, complaints, and serious incidents: While many reviews convey confidence that residents are safe and well-cared-for, there are multiple serious negative claims that warrant attention. These include allegations of neglect (e.g., not wiping after diaper changes, leaving residents in soiled clothing), bruising, forced medication administration, and at least one report linking the facility to an acquired pneumonia and subsequent death. There are also mentions of formal complaints, legal action, and concerns about fake reviews. Although these severe negative reports are not the majority, their frequency and gravity across independent summaries call for due diligence by families — i.e., review of state inspection reports, complaint histories, and direct questioning of management about incident resolution and infection control.

Management, communication, and operational issues: Many reviewers praise strong communication from staff to families and describe management as running a well-ordered campus. Conversely, operational issues are repeatedly called out: understaffing and overworked employees leading to slow response times; occasional poor customer service; and unclear discharge timelines that caused distress for some residents and families. Pricing was mentioned as expensive by at least one reviewer. There are also concerns about review reliability, with some claiming fake positive reviews exist and others filing formal complaints; this creates mixed signals about transparency and satisfaction monitoring.

Net assessment and patterns: The most consistent positive patterns are: compassionate individual caregivers, excellent therapy/rehab services with robust equipment, a clean and pleasant facility environment, and abundant activities that support recovery and social engagement. The most consistent negative patterns are workforce shortages (leading to slow responses and perceived overwork), and a smaller but serious cluster of safety and neglect allegations. This combination suggests Life Care Center of Post Falls can provide outstanding rehabilitative and routine care for many residents, but prospective residents and families should probe operational safeguards and past incidents to ensure consistency of care.

Recommendations for prospective families (based on review patterns): When evaluating this facility in person, consider unannounced visits at different times (including evenings and weekends) to observe staffing levels and responsiveness; ask management specific questions about current staff-to-resident ratios, nurse and CNA coverage, and contingency plans for shortages; request recent state inspection and complaint resolution records; inquire about infection control policies and any recent outbreaks; and discuss discharge planning and expected timelines. Also ask to meet therapy staff and view the gym and specialty equipment if rehab is a priority. Given the generally high praise for therapy and many caregivers, these targeted checks can help confirm whether the positive experiences described are likely to apply to your loved one while mitigating the risk of the concerning incidents some reviewers reported.

About Life Care Center of Post Falls

Life Care Center of Post Falls sits near the Washington border in Post Falls, Idaho, and it's a large skilled nursing facility with 120 certified beds and usually about 64 residents each day, and it's been run by Life Care Centers of America since June 2008 as a for-profit business with Forrest Preston holding most of the ownership, and you'll find it in the Medicare system with an active facility Facebook page, a video tour, and photo gallery for those wanting a closer look. Residents get skilled nursing care 24 hours a day, plus rehabilitation services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with both inpatient and outpatient options, and there are programs for post-acute and short-term recovery after surgery, as well as subacute care for things like wound care and IV therapy, and a speech language pathology unit for those who need help with talking or swallowing. The facility has a therapy gym, transportation services, and activities staff, along with housekeeping and laundry included, and rooms can be private or semi-private with bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and daily activities, and there's a library, beauty salon, barber shop, outdoor courtyards, and Wi-Fi for convenience. Religious services, family education programs, and pet visits are allowed, there are family and resident councils, and meals are served in a fine dining setting with a certified dietitian making meal plans, and visiting hours are flexible, which helps family members drop in when they want. There's a medical director on site, along with nurses and therapists who set up individualized treatment plans for all residents, and case management and discharge planning are part of their services, plus respite care is available if a family caregiver needs a break. There's always some effort made to keep the environment safe and homelike, with 24-hour security, fire safety, and cleaning, and a no-smoking policy throughout the building, and you'll see amenities aimed at comfort, like bedside call lights, telephone hookups, and cable TV.

The nurse turnover rate is 43.3%, which is lower than the Idaho average of 46.4%, while the nursing staff provides about 4.01 nurse hours for every resident each day, which is just under the state average of 4.1 hours. Some important inspection facts include 11 deficiencies in recent reports, with 2 related to infection control, and specific citations for not updating care plans within 7 days of an assessment and for failing to always have a registered nurse on for 8 hours daily or a full-time director of nursing. The location keeps family members involved with care conferences and supports communication, dignity, and self-respect as much as possible, and therapies are designed to help residents recover physical mobility, independence, and day-to-day abilities, and you'll see a mix of residents who need long-term care and those recovering before returning home. The grounds have landscaped areas for outdoor time, and inside you'll find safety features and easy access for seniors, and there's also a focus on activities and community re-entry for those building up their strength. Life Care Center of Post Falls offers both long-term and short-term skilled care, specialized rehab, post-surgical care, and respite care, with a variety of amenities and support services, but families should note the facility's inspection history and staffing details, just as with any nursing or rehabilitation choice.
