    Caring staff, spacious apartment, value

I live here and I'm very pleased-staff are caring and professional, the community is bright, airy and clean, and meals are healthy and varied with restaurant-style dining. My spacious apartment has a full kitchen, large closets and biweekly cleaning; activities (euchre, bridge, crafts, shopping trips), on-site medical checks, pet-friendly policies and optional underground parking give me peace of mind and great value.

    Summary of reviews

Stonecroft Village presents as an independent-living community with consistently noted strengths in physical space, apartment amenities and basic supportive services. Units are described as roomy with large closets and full kitchens equipped with dishwasher, stove and microwave; hallways and common areas are described as bright and clean. Routine services such as biweekly apartment cleaning, weekly shopping trips, and available underground parking (for an extra fee) contribute to convenience. The community is pet-friendly and reviewers frequently described a friendly resident population.

Dining and basic health supports are prominent features. The standard meal plan includes 20 meals per month, with additional noon meal options at a modest charge and multiple menu choices. Reviewers commonly described meals as generally good, varied, and able to accommodate special diets; dining is characterized as restaurant-style. On-site nursing checks (blood pressure, glucose) and periodic podiatry visits were mentioned as part of the community’s clinical support, and the facility provides transportation for both shopping and medical appointments.

Social programming and day-to-day engagement are another positive area: reviews cite a variety of group activities and religious services, including card games, crafts and organized trips. That said, there is some inconsistency in how activity information is conveyed—while many residents find the programming engaging, a few accounts note unclear or inconsistent scheduling. Prospective residents will likely want to confirm current activity calendars during a visit.

Staff and care impressions are mixed but lean positive. Numerous comments describe staff as caring, attentive and professional, and families report relief and peace of mind when care is consistent. However, several families raised operational concerns related to leadership and staffing: comments reference leadership turnover or an absent director, staff appearing overworked, and instances that gave rise to concerns about staff conduct or communication tone. These observations suggest variability in the resident experience that may be tied to management stability and staffing levels.

Overall, Stonecroft Village offers tangible amenities and a strong independent-living environment with good dining, transportation and social opportunities. The principal areas to investigate further are management stability, current staffing levels and the community’s processes for staff communication and resident engagement. When considering this community, prospective residents and their families should tour during mealtime and an activity, ask about recent leadership changes, and review contract terms for additional fees (parking, pet policy) to confirm alignment with expectations.

    About Stonecroft Village

Stonecroft Village is a senior living community in Illinois, part of Aster Senior Communities, specifically Aster Assisted Living of Clintonville, and sits in a small town with friendly faces and a quiet atmosphere. The community provides several living options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, nursing home, and residential care home settings, so folks can find the level of help they might need as life goes on, whether they want private apartments, accessible senior apartments for those who like things simple, or shared homes with live-in caregivers when daily activities become harder to manage. The staff is available around the clock, seven days a week, ready to help with daily routines like bathing, dressing, or medication, and they're known for being joyful and kind, which helps residents feel at home.

Stonecroft Village focuses on independence while offering support where needed, with transportation available for medical appointments, shopping, and outings, though there's a cost for the service, and you'll find parking if you drive. Those who like to get out can enjoy group trips or just join daily activities like games, movie nights, music, arts and crafts, cocktail hours, religious services for many faiths, and exercise classes, while folks can also find quiet spots like the library, sunroom, TV lounge, fireplaces, or outside patio garden with raised beds for gardening. Meals happen in a homey dining room that serves chef-prepared food, including allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly dishes, with guest meals, special diets, and room service offered, and there's always coffee and a chat to be found in common areas designed for comfort.

Residents have access to on-site beautician services, housekeeping, laundry, an emergency alert system, grocery shopping, furnished rooms, and a meeting room for family get-togethers or celebrations, and there's free cable and Wi-Fi. The community welcomes pets, has wheelchair-accessible and non-ambulatory care, and provides memory care to help with dementia and wandering. The elevator sometimes goes out and may be out for a few days, which can be a problem for folks who have trouble with stairs. There's a full range of activities, entertainment, and spiritual support, with a visiting chaplain and options for Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and other services, both on and offsite. The building includes options for maintenance-free living for active adults 55+, private apartments in several floor plans with full kitchens or kitchenettes, and supportive services to fit different needs, all in a resident-focused setting where socialization and independence matter just as much as care.
