    Loving attentive staff; excellent care

I entrusted my loved one to this facility and was extremely satisfied - the nurses, aides and therapists were loving, attentive, and treated residents like family. Staff communicated clearly and promptly (they kept us informed even while I was out of the country), doctors like Dr. Hewitt, Dr. Brooks and Dr. Lori Wardlow were compassionate, and activities, movies, religious services and a therapy dog kept quality of life high. A quick admission likely saved him and staff often went above and beyond; the place was clean and cheerful. There were minor administrative/furnishing issues, but overall I strongly recommend their caring, responsive team.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is strongly mixed but leans positive around the human side of care and raises substantive concerns about facility upkeep, administration, and isolated safety issues. The most consistent praise centers on the staff: many reviewers describe a family-like culture, compassionate nurses, aides, therapists, and at least one physician (Dr. Lori Wardlow) noted for her compassion. Multiple reviewers report that staff go above and beyond routine duties, maintain clear communication with families, and provide a high level of clinical and emotional support—sometimes repeatedly across more than one loved one. Several accounts credit staff responsiveness with prompt admissions or actions that likely improved outcomes, and others emphasize the facility’s supportive role during the pandemic and willingness of staff to risk themselves for residents. These positive reports also extend to quality-of-life elements: reviewers mention a clean, cheerful environment, regular activities (movies, live shows, religious services, Sunday school), a friendly social atmosphere where residents know one another, and amenities like therapy dogs that contribute to resident well-being.

However, the reviews also contain repeated and important criticisms that potential residents and families should note. Physical facility concerns appear in multiple summaries—outdated furniture, maintenance issues such as toilets that do not flush properly, and at least one reviewer describing the overall facilities as "terrible." Administrative behavior draws mixed reactions: while many praise direct care staff, several reviews call out unprofessional or rude administrative staff, an apparent money-focused approach, and poor handling of personal property (delayed TV replacements and an account of a TV being removed after a resident’s death). There are also alarming safety and care lapses reported by a minority of reviewers: oxygen not being turned on, delayed recognition of a stroke, and an allegation of a nurse pinching a patient. These specific incidents suggest potential problems with training, supervision, or staffing levels in certain shifts or units.

A notable pattern is the coexistence of high praise for individual caregivers and troubling reports about system-level issues. Many reviewers explicitly say that care quality was consistent across multiple residents and shifts, and they single out staff dedication and compassionate treatment as hallmarks of the facility. At the same time, several accounts mention overworked nurses who are "snappy," inconsistent condolences or follow-up after deaths, and administrative responses that feel transactional. That divergence could reflect variability by unit, shift, or recent staffing changes: direct-care staff (nurses, aides, therapists) are repeatedly praised for hands-on caregiving, while administrative and maintenance functions receive more criticism.

There are also serious allegations that require attention: theft allegations involving named doctors (Dr. Hewitt, Dr. Brooks, and Sneed) were reported by at least one reviewer. Allegations of theft and the safety incidents cited above are significant red flags that should prompt verification through facility management, state inspection reports, and background checks. Likewise, the reports about removal or delayed replacement of personal property after a death, and a perceived lack of condolences, point to potential deficiencies in bereavement protocols and property-handling procedures.

In summary, reviewers most commonly praise the direct caregivers and the day-to-day resident experience: compassionate, communicative staff; strong clinical care; good activities; and a warm social environment. Conversely, the most common negatives are related to physical plant and maintenance, administrative professionalism and responsiveness, occasional safety lapses, and at least one serious allegation of theft. The overall picture is of a facility with strong frontline caregivers and tangible benefits for residents, but with notable systemic weaknesses that prospective residents and families should investigate further by touring the facility, asking about staffing ratios, maintenance schedules, incident reporting, and any investigations or corrective actions taken regarding the specific safety and theft allegations mentioned in the reviews.

You'll find the place keeps itself welcoming but straightforward; you can look at the photo gallery, ask for a virtual tour, or read downloadable brochures, and if questions come up, there's sure to be a form for that-whether to schedule a tour, ask a question for family, or start the process to move in, and with every service, Edmonson Center keeps things open and fair for all residents, working closely with hospitals and doctors to keep health care solid and reliable.
