    Compassionate staff helped me home

I had a very positive stay - the nurses, CNAs and staff were compassionate, friendly and attentive, with Kelly Holcomb and Courtney especially helpful and communicative. The facility felt safe and home-like, therapy helped me return home, and I'm grateful for the caring, responsive team.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present an overall positive portrait of New Castle Nursing & Rehabilitation, with repeated emphasis on compassionate, family-like caregiving and effective rehabilitation services. Many families praised the nursing staff and CNAs for attentiveness, patience and proactive communication; several reviews credited therapy teams with meaningful progress that enabled residents to return home. Individual staff members and department leaders were highlighted by name as assets, which suggests strengths in staff training, morale, and interpersonal skills.

Care quality is portrayed as strong in hands-on and rehabilitative areas. Reviewers described timely task completion, safety-promoting CNA practices, and a general sense that residents’ needs are anticipated and met. Therapy outcomes were specifically noted as successful in at least one instance, and physicians and therapists who were effective were singled out positively. At the same time, an isolated but notable concern emerged around physician bedside manner and responsiveness; one family described a negative experience with an attending doctor that they felt contributed to an adverse outcome. This pattern suggests variability in medical-provider interactions rather than a systemic failure of nursing or therapy staff.

Dining was not described in the provided summaries, so there is insufficient information to assess meal quality, menu variety, or dining service processes. Activities and social programming, by contrast, received consistent praise: reviewers referenced a robust schedule, an active and engaged activity director, and interactions that made the environment feel home-like and socially stimulating for residents.

Facility and environment impressions were positive: reviewers used terms such as cozy, clean, and welcoming to describe resident rooms and common areas. Staff responsiveness and frequent communication with families were recurring themes, contributing to family members’ sense of trust and peace of mind. Management-level impressions are mixed but lean positive — staff frequently appeared empowered to go beyond job descriptions and to communicate with families; specific staff members were noted as helpful and responsive, which reflects favorably on leadership and training.

Notable patterns for prospective residents and families: the strongest consistent benefits are compassionate direct care, strong therapy programs, active resident engagement, and good communication with families. Areas to verify during a tour or intake include physician assignment and how medical oversight is handled, and expectations about staff availability during peak times (some reviewers mentioned brief visits when staff were busy). Overall, the facility is generally described as caring and effective, with a few operational variability points worth clarifying before admission.

About New Castle Nursing & Rehabilitation

New Castle Nursing & Rehabilitation sits in the quiet town of New Castle, Kentucky, giving residents peaceful countryside views right outside the window, which a lot of people find calming after a busy life, and the facility has 50 certified beds, offering both skilled nursing and rehabilitation care for people who need either short-term recovery or ongoing nursing help, and they say every resident becomes part of the New Castle family because the staff tries to show compassion and treat folks like family. Christy Draque puts together activities every month so residents can join in, stay busy, and feel connected, and the facility has a home-like setting where people are encouraged to bring things from home to feel comfortable. New Castle offers therapies like physical therapy and occupational therapy, helps coordinate doctor visits, and provides social services, and it runs as a for-profit place owned by Providence Group Of Kentucky LLC, managed by people who have a direct stake, and linked to Pacs Group as noted in CMS data. The nurse turnover rate is 41.8%, which is lower than the state average, but the nurse hours per patient per day sits a little below average at 3.67, and residents get care that fits their needs, with features aimed at making recovery smoother. The home takes referrals day or night and has a calendar packed with activities, but there isn't much detailed public information on some of the programs, and there's been some delay in inspections-over two years in some cases-with a total of 7 deficiencies found in recent reports, including one related to infection control standards. The staff focuses on making it easy for residents to engage with them, so everybody can get to know one another, and the hope is always to help people feel safe and well cared for, whatever their needs might be, whether it's for a short stay after a hospital visit or a longer stay for general nursing care.
