    Clean, welcoming but inconsistent care

I'm generally pleased: the facility is very clean, welcoming, and the staff are warm, caring, and skilled-therapy and activities are strong and residents seem happy. Meals are usually enjoyable and flexible. My main caveats are inconsistent staffing, slow call-button/phone responses and occasional missed care or errors; communication can be hit-or-miss though management has fixed issues when notified. I'd recommend it with caution-stay involved and advocate for your loved one.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews for Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center are highly polarized. A substantial number of reviewers report excellent experiences—highlighting compassionate, attentive staff, strong physical therapy and rehab services, clean facilities, and meaningful activities—while another set of reviewers describe worrying, even dangerous, lapses in care, poor communication, and instances of neglect that in some cases resulted in emergency transport or death. The pattern is one of striking variability: many families feel their loved ones are well cared for and supported, while others report serious quality and safety failures.

Care quality and safety: The most serious and frequent negative themes relate to lapses in basic care and safety. Multiple summaries allege neglect, medication mix-ups, extremely slow responses to call buttons, and lengthy delays for bathroom assistance (one review cited an 8-hour delay). Several reviewers claim incidents that placed residents’ health at risk, including ambulance trips to the ER and ICU admissions. There are also allegations of missing personal items, removal of walkers, and hospice placements that families felt were premature. These reports raise significant concerns about staffing levels, clinical oversight, and consistent adherence to care protocols. At the same time, many individual accounts describe prompt, attentive clinical care where nurses and therapists acted quickly and effectively—indicating that quality of care appears to depend heavily on specific staff, shifts, or wings.

Staff performance and culture: Staff commentary is overwhelmingly mixed. A large portion of reviewers praise nurses, therapists, social workers, and certain aides as caring, compassionate, and highly skilled—many single out the physical therapy team as exceptional and mention staff who ‘‘go above and beyond.’’ Specific staff (for example, Sandy McGregor and others) were credited with helpful admissions support and paperwork assistance. Conversely, other reviews describe rude, hostile, or even abusive behavior from CNAs and certain staff members, portray management as dismissive or authoritarian in some cases, and report intimidation when family members seek answers. Many accounts point to inconsistent CNA performance—routine care tasks sometimes not completed on schedule, and some CNAs perceived as underperforming. This suggests variability in training, supervision, or staffing that affects resident experience.

Facilities, cleanliness, and environment: Reports on facility condition are contradictory. Numerous reviewers describe Parkview as very clean, well-maintained, pleasantly scented, and organized, with clean floors and bathrooms and a homelike atmosphere. Several reviewers also note positive touches like holiday decorations and daily small comforts (e.g., ice cream). In contrast, other reviews describe dirty rooms, smells inside and outside the building, and an overall depressing atmosphere in parts of the facility. The rehab wing is praised by many for its focus and staff, but some reviewers say it is underused or physically distant. The mixed descriptions indicate that environmental quality may vary by unit or over time.

Dining and activities: Activity programming and engagement get a lot of positive mentions—reviewers cite frequent activities, pleasant mealtimes for some residents, and staff encouragement to participate. Small comforts and social opportunities were frequently appreciated. Dining experiences are inconsistent: while some residents and families praise meals and consider them enjoyable, others strongly condemn food quality—calling it very poor or inedible and reporting missed meals or starvation in extreme claims. This variability suggests meal service may be reliable for some residents but problematic in other circumstances.

Communication, administration, and legal/ethical concerns: Communication again is inconsistent. Several reviewers describe clear, helpful communication from staff and administrators, with good updates and guidance. However, numerous reports cite poor phone responsiveness, incorrect voicemail messages, HIPAA violations via voicemail, and failure to inform families when residents are sent to the ER. Financial and administrative issues were also raised—some reviewers allege inappropriate address changes, overcharging, or perceived greed. A few reviews urge families to escalate issues to the ombudsman, Social Services, or legal counsel, and some mention involvement of state authorities (DOA). These issues point to potential gaps in policies, record-keeping, and transparency that families should monitor closely.

Patterns and recommendations for families: The dominant pattern is inconsistency—your experience appears to depend heavily on which staff members, wing, shift, or timeframe you encounter. Parkview demonstrates clear strengths in therapy/rehab and in the compassionate care provided by many nurses, therapists, and social workers. However, recurrent red flags (neglect allegations, medication errors, severe delays responding to needs, communication breakdowns, and administrative concerns) merit caution. Families considering Parkview should: 1) visit multiple times and at different shifts to observe routines, 2) document any incidents and follow up in writing, 3) ask about staffing ratios and CNA supervision, 4) verify admission/financial paperwork carefully, and 5) know how to contact the local ombudsman and regulatory agencies if safety or rights are at risk. For current residents, maintain active communication with nursing leadership, request care plan meetings, and escalate promptly if care lapses occur.

Bottom line: Parkview has many devoted, skilled employees and strong rehab capabilities, and numerous families report positive, even exceptional, experiences. However, there are multiple, serious reports of neglect, communication failures, and administrative problems that have resulted in harm for some residents. The facility appears to produce both very good and very poor outcomes; therefore, vigilance, frequent engagement, and verification of care processes are essential for families considering or using Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
