    Friendly staff, neglectful and unsanitary

I appreciated the friendly, helpful staff and inviting common areas, but the care was inconsistent and often neglectful: urine/feces odors, nails left unclipped for weeks, and a rug next to the bed covered in food and dirt. At roughly $9,000/month and with families visibly distressed, I would not send a loved one here.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews for Redbanks Colonial Terrace is highly mixed and polarized. A substantial portion of reviewers praise the community for warm, helpful and respectful staff, a clean and inviting atmosphere, and regular nurse communication. Those positive comments describe the facility as offering excellent, even "best" care in some cases, highlighting friendly interactions and perceived professionalism. At the same time, a set of very serious negative reports describes neglectful care, hygiene problems, and strong family distress. These conflicting viewpoints create an overall picture of inconsistency: some residents and families are very satisfied while others report disturbing lapses.

Care quality is the central divide in these summaries. Positive reviewers explicitly call out "best care" and consistent nurse communication, indicating that some residents receive attentive, clinically appropriate care with good updates to families. Conversely, negative reviewers list concrete failures: a lack of quality care, instances of neglect, and requests to not send loved ones. The contrast suggests variability in the standard of care delivered to different residents or at different times. When trust in clinical oversight exists, reviewers respond very positively; where it breaks down, complaints are severe and emotive.

Staff-related comments are likewise mixed. Many reviewers emphasize friendly, helpful, kind, and respectful staff, which supports the narrative that interpersonal interactions can be a strength for the community. However, other reviews accuse staff of neglecting basic personal care needs (for example, nails not clipped for weeks) and failing to respond to hygiene concerns. These opposing views point to uneven staff performance or possible staffing or training inconsistencies: some team members appear to provide excellent personal attention while others do not meet basic standards.

Facility cleanliness and environmental conditions are similarly contradictory. Several reviewers describe the facility as clean and inviting, while others report serious sanitation issues such as the odor of urine and feces and a rug beside a bed covered in food and dirt. These specific negative details (odor, soiled rugs, and untrimmed nails) are particularly concerning because they reflect both infection control and daily living support failures. The presence of both "clean facility" comments and complaints about foul odors and soiled areas suggests fluctuations in housekeeping effectiveness or uneven adherence to hygiene protocols.

Financial and management concerns are also present in the reviews. One summary mentions a high monthly cost of approximately $9,000, and that price combined with reports of neglect has left families distressed. When high cost expectations are not matched by uniformly reliable care and environmental standards, families may be especially vocal in their dissatisfaction. The pattern of mixed praise and severe complaints indicates potential management or oversight issues — for example, inconsistent enforcement of care standards, variable staffing or training, or gaps in supervisory follow-up.

Notably, the reviews provided do not include specific remarks about dining, activities, or the broader programmatic aspects of life at Redbanks Colonial Terrace beyond clinical care and facility cleanliness. That absence means there is no clear evidence from these summaries about the quality of meals, social programming, or recreational offerings.

In summary, the reviews depict a facility that can provide excellent, compassionate care and clear communication for some residents, as reported by several reviewers, but that also has instances of serious neglect and hygiene problems reported by others. Key themes are inconsistency in care quality and environmental cleanliness, strong positive interpersonal staff experiences reported by some, and alarming neglect and sanitation complaints reported by others, all set against a backdrop of relatively high cost and family distress in negative cases. Prospective residents and families should be aware of these polarized reports and consider detailed, targeted inquiries and inspections (for example, asking about staffing ratios, supervision, housekeeping protocols, recent inspection reports, and examples of how management addresses complaints) to assess whether the community's standards align with their expectations and needs.
