    Good care but inconsistent housekeeping

I'm mostly pleased - the facility and common areas are very clean, check-in and entry are smooth, and nurses, CNAs and therapists were caring, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help, so my family felt comfortable and well cared for. However, I saw troubling lapses: one room had cleanliness/bug issues, some staff were rude or unavailable at times, and response/communication suffered when short-staffed. Overall I'd recommend but urge management to fix housekeeping and responsiveness.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with a clear majority of reviewers praising the staff, the quality of care, and the facility environment at Heritage Manor Slidell. Most comments emphasize compassionate, attentive staff who provide patient-centered care and treat residents like family. Multiple reviewers singled out CNAs, nurses, therapists, and several individual employees by name (Rebecca, Miss Janie Belle, Yvonne, Adriana, Britney, Brittany) as outstanding, and many families reported feeling confident and at peace knowing their loved ones were well cared for. Rehabilitation and physical therapy receive repeated positive mentions, and the presence of spacious double rehab rooms, included cable TV, and visible COVID precautions strengthen the perception of a facility that attends to both clinical and comfort needs.

Staffing and culture are recurring strengths. Reviewers frequently describe a welcoming, warm atmosphere at check-in and in the lobby, with staff who proactively greet residents, support family transitions, and go above and beyond (helping move residents, providing personalized funding guidance, and resolving issues quickly). Several comments highlight excellent administration and management support, and a number of reviewers noted improvement under new ownership. Office and front-desk personnel are often described as helpful and informative, and many families appreciated clear explanations of processes during admission. The environment is also described as safe and dignified, with staff preserving residents' respect and independence.

Facility upkeep, amenities, and activities are another strong theme. Numerous reviews call the facility 'clean as a whistle' or 'spotless,' praising well-maintained common areas, an attractive lobby, modern equipment, and an innovative electronic kiosk entry system. There are positive notes on dining — several residents enjoyed the food — and a robust activities calendar that includes arts and crafts, bingo, field trips, and daily engagement that helps residents remain active and content. These factors contribute to frequent recommendations by families and strong statements of satisfaction from residents.

Despite the many positives, there are notable areas of inconsistency that appear across multiple reviews. The most common concern is staffing variability: when the facility is short-handed, reviewers report long waits for assistance (one review mentioned a three-hour wait), unresponsive call lights, and CNAs being unavailable or distracted. These understaffed periods contrast sharply with reports of prompt, excellent care when staffing is adequate, indicating that residents' experiences can depend significantly on shift coverage. Additionally, while many reviewers praise cleanliness, there are isolated but serious complaints about housekeeping problems, unpleasant odors, and even reports of bugs and rooms left dirty — these negative accounts create a mixed picture of environmental consistency.

Communication and professionalism have generally positive coverage but with exceptions. Many families report clear, compassionate communication and personalized help with admissions and funding; however, a few reviewers describe rude or unprofessional interactions (notably mentioning an admission director and unprofessional phone behavior), noisy morning routines, or poor responses to questions. These incidents are not the dominant narrative but are frequent enough to be a pattern worth noting.

In summary, Heritage Manor Slidell is portrayed by most reviewers as a caring, well-run facility with strong clinical teams, compassionate staff, attractive and generally clean surroundings, useful amenities, and a lively activities program. The facility seems especially strong in therapy/rehab services and in creating a family-like culture. The primary caveats are inconsistent housekeeping and occasional odors in some reports, plus staffing variability that can lead to long waits and lapses in responsiveness on certain shifts. Prospective residents and families would likely find this facility welcoming and effective, but should confirm current staffing levels, housekeeping practices, and admissions contacts during a visit to ensure they experience the consistently positive care many reviewers describe.
