Crossroads II is a small, peaceful residential center in Maine with space for just ten women who need a safe and supportive place while working through addiction, mental health issues, or eating disorders, and it's run by a private non-profit, so the focus is more on care than on profit. The facility is meant for adult women, including young adults, pregnant and postpartum women, and those who've experienced trauma or violence, and staff are around 24/7 to help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, medication, transfers, and transportation to doctor appointments. The rooms are private and fully furnished, with linen and housekeeping services, and there are community areas, walking paths, gardens, cable, WiFi, and phone access, so things feel homey and comfortable. The kitchen staff prepare meals each day, and they handle special diets for diabetes and allergies. Smoking is allowed only in certain outdoor areas, but vaping isn't allowed, and for those trying to quit tobacco, there are counseling and nicotine replacement programs.
Crossroads II offers addiction treatment using a strong mix of group therapy, individual counseling, family support, medication-assisted treatment options like buprenorphine or naltrexone, and other medical therapies for substance use disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring problems-a dual diagnosis approach. The program uses evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing, alongside activities like art therapy, equine therapy, yoga, meditation, and recreational things like horse riding, hiking, and group sports. Women take part in daily group and individual sessions, early recovery skills courses, nutrition for sobriety classes, mindfulness, Al-Anon meetings for families, and 12-step meetings both onsite and in the community, with family clinicians available by phone or Skype if relatives live far away.
Staff also help with managing healthcare appointments, medication, transportation, and move-in coordination. Medical supervision stays constant, and Crossroads II is licensed by Maine agencies and accredited by both CARF and NAATP. There's mental health and trauma therapy, plus help for behavioral addictions like gambling or social media issues. Assessments and planning are personalized for each woman, with regular check-ins, aftercare planning, outcome follow-ups, and recovery coaching, so residents leave with longer-term support in place. The environment aims to encourage women to get stronger, share their stories, and build self-awareness, dignity, and a healthier independent life. Payment can come through Medicaid, private insurance, or self-payment, and language services are there for the deaf and hard of hearing. The center specializes in helping women who've struggled for years, who need a quieter community with enough structure and professional support to work out both the big and small things in day-to-day living.
