    Clean, caring home but costly

I toured this lovely, very clean home and was impressed-beds made, fresh meals daily, residents well-fed and content, and the caregivers really took time with my mother even though she hadn't known about the appointment. My mom felt cared for and is eating better, though activities seemed limited. It's well run and I'd recommend it, but it wasn't affordable for us.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in these reviews is generally positive with recurring praise for the quality of hands-on care, cleanliness, and daily meals, but there are also clear and consistent concerns about activity availability, capacity, affordability, and occasional communication issues.

Care quality and staff: Multiple reviewers emphasize that caregivers are great, that staff takes time with residents, and that family members’ loved ones feel cared for. Specific operational details cited — such as beds being made, residents being dressed, and staff taking time with residents — support the impression of attentive, routine personal care. Several comments explicitly state residents are content and recommend the home, which strengthens the perception that direct caregiving is a strong point.

Facilities and environment: The home is described mostly as clean, lovely, and well taken care of. Cleanliness is a repeatedly mentioned positive. One reviewer, however, described a cluttered environment, which indicates there may be variability in housekeeping or room organization in some areas. Overall, the dominant pattern is of a tidy, well-maintained residence with at least one outlying negative observation.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a consistently strong theme. Multiple reviewers note that meals are cooked fresh daily, that breakfast is prepared, and that residents are well-fed. At least one family member observed an improvement in their loved one’s eating, which suggests the menu and meal service are meeting residents’ appetites and nutritional needs.

Activities and programming: Activity feedback is mixed. Some reviewers mention specific personal grooming activities like manicures, indicating some social/personal care offerings. Other reviewers explicitly state there are no activities. This inconsistency points to either variability over time or differences in expectations about what constitutes an activity program. Prospective families should clarify the current activity schedule and frequency during a tour.

Access, fit, and cost: Several practical concerns appear across reviews. One reviewer noted that the home had no openings, which signals capacity constraints. Another reviewer said the community was not affordable for their family, and one family said the home was not a good fit for their mother. These comments indicate that beyond quality of care, availability, pricing, and resident fit are meaningful factors — the home may be priced above some budgets and may not suit every resident’s needs or preferences.

Communication and management notes: Most accounts of interactions with staff are positive — visitors were welcomed and shown around — but one reviewer reported being unaware of their appointment, pointing to an occasional communication lapse. Multiple reviewers also remark that staff are "doing their best," which can be read as both a compliment and a subtle signal that resources or staffing levels could be constrained at times.

Summary recommendation: The reviews collectively portray Family Home Care II as a small, generally well-kept home with attentive caregivers and reliably prepared meals, making it a strong option for families prioritizing personal attention and good daily nutrition. However, prospective families should verify current availability, confirm costs and whether the price fits their budget, and probe the extent and consistency of activity programming. It is also wise to ask specific questions about communication protocols and to tour the facility to confirm the cleanliness and organization standards match their expectations.
