    Small home-like facility, attentive staff

I chose this small, home-like facility and I'm very happy - my private room with a private bath is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and provide individualized care thanks to a high staff-to-resident ratio. Meals feel like family, there are daily activities, church/prayer and piano services, occasional trips, and pandemic continuity plus a reasonable price. It isn't modern and activities can be limited and maintenance slow at times, but I'm treated with respect and dignity and the genuine care here makes me very satisfied.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive, with repeated emphasis on personalized, attentive care and a warm, home-like environment. Multiple reviewers highlight the staff as a major strength — described as wonderful, friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring — and several comments point to a high staff-to-resident ratio that supports individualized attention. Respect and dignity in the treatment of residents is noted explicitly, and reviewers frequently state they are happy with the community and the service they receive.

Care quality emerges as a principal theme. Reviewers consistently mention individualized care plans and a personal approach to residents’ needs. The high staff-to-resident ratio is cited as enabling prompt, attentive care. The facility’s ability to maintain continuity of care through the pandemic is mentioned positively, suggesting stability in staffing and operations during challenging periods.

Staff and culture receive strong praise. Beyond clinical or hands-on care, reviewers appreciate the interpersonal atmosphere: staff are described as friendly and respectful, and the small, family-like community fosters close relationships. Church services, prayer gatherings, and live piano music are recurring positives that contribute to the social and spiritual life of residents and reinforce the home-like ambiance.

Facilities and accommodations are viewed favorably in many respects. Private rooms with private bathrooms are frequently called out as a significant amenity, and the community is described as clean and well maintained. At the same time, several reviewers note that the facility is not modern; the décor and fixtures may be dated even though cleanliness and basic upkeep are satisfactory.

Dining and activities show a mix of positives and limitations. Community or family-style meals are considered a benefit and contribute to the homelike feel. Daily activities, occasional trips, and musical offerings (such as a piano player) are provided and enjoyed. However, a notable pattern in the reviews is that activities are sometimes described as limited in variety or frequency — reviewers appreciate existing programming but indicate there is room to expand activities to better engage residents.

Management and operations receive generally positive remarks around pricing and maintenance, but with some caveats. The facility’s cost is described as good value by reviewers, and many say the community is well maintained overall. A recurring concern, however, is the pace of maintenance or repairs — several comments mention slow response times for maintenance issues. The community’s small size is a double-edged theme: it contributes to the personal, home-like atmosphere but may also limit the breadth of programming, amenities, or social variety available.

In summary, reviews portray Household of Angels Assisted as a small, clean, and caring community that excels at personalized attention, respectful treatment, and creating a warm, faith-friendly environment. Strengths are concentrated in staff quality, private accommodations, and the intimate community feel. The primary areas for improvement noted by reviewers are expanding and diversifying activities and improving the speed of maintenance or repairs, along with occasional updates to make certain parts of the facility feel more modern. For prospective residents or families who prioritize individualized care, a close-knit atmosphere, and faith-based services at a reasonable price, the community appears to be a strong match; those seeking a wider range of activities or a more contemporary facility may want to probe those areas further during a visit.

    About Household of Angels Assisted

Household of Angels Assisted sits over on 118 Arundel Beach Rd. in Severna Park, MD, and what you get here is a Christian care community that's privately run by RN Margaret Taneus, who's got 44 years of critical and pastoral care behind her, and you'll notice quickly everything about the place comes down to personalized, respectful attention, now they've just got 16 beds, so it's never crowded, most rooms are spacious studios with private bathrooms and walk-in showers, and nearly every room's got large windows, emergency call buttons, and cable hook-ups, which fits for people who still want a bit of their own space even when they need some help. Folks who live here might need a hand with bathing, dressing, or remembering medicine, and the staff, including on-site physicians and nurses, go about things in a steady, caring way-there's a low caregiver-to-resident ratio, about one caregiver for every five people, and many of the staff have worked here a long while, which means new faces don't pop in and out all the time. There's daily housekeeping, in-house laundry and dry cleaning, meal plans that work for special diets like diabetic, vegetarian, and low fat, and meals come made with quality ingredients because everyone deserves proper nutrients as they age, and the kitchen works to give you vitamins and minerals you need, which is important-besides, communal meals in the dining room help keep up the sense of community, if you like to join. Amenities include well-kept gardens and patios where you can get some fresh air or sit a spell, plus there's a sunroom, arts and crafts area, and activities room for people who like to keep busy or just watch others, and you'll find a chapel on-site for services, since spiritual care is part of life here, with visiting pastors and a regular chaplain for support, and regular movie nights with a big screen don't hurt either for entertainment, same goes for music therapy. Transportation comes standard, so getting to appointments or outings works out pretty well, and there's parking for families who visit. The entire place is single level and fully fenced, which helps with mobility and safety, and memory care staff get specific training, so those with Alzheimer's or dementia receive proper attention and patients who need palliative or hospice care are kept comfortable with skilled nursing and therapy services, including physical, restorative, and podiatry care as well as psychiatric help. Special attention goes to dignity and respect, not only through how staff treat residents, but in fostering connections with families-there aren't any big promises made here, just a steady, compassionate effort to provide comfort, safety, and a chance for meaningful days.
