    Compassionate staff, beautiful facility, pricey

I placed my mom here and I'm thrilled - the staff are compassionate, professional, and truly personalized in their care; the facility is beautiful, spotless, pet-friendly with roomy apartments, good meals, and plenty of activities that lifted her spirits. It's a bit pricey and there have been occasional staffing/management hiccups (missed meds/showers or canceled activities), but overall we're grateful and would highly recommend.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Cedarhurst Senior Living of Farmington are overwhelmingly positive, with repeated emphasis on caring, compassionate, and attentive staff; a clean, modern, and resort-like facility; and a broad range of amenities and activities. Many reviewers express relief and gratitude for the quality of care their loved ones receive, frequently describing staff as family-like, genuine, and responsive. Memory care is singled out repeatedly as a strong point, and multiple families describe meaningful improvements in residents’ health, mobility, engagement, and overall outlook after moving in.

Staff and care quality: The dominant theme across reviews is the exceptional quality of caregiving. Reviewers consistently praise staff for professionalism, kindness, patience, and individualized attention. Several reviews name clinical staff positively (including the Director of Nursing Amanda and CMT Valerie), and others highlight staff expertise in medication management and proactive medical follow-up. Families report clear communication, transparency around care and pricing, and staff responsiveness to concerns. Memory care receives many commendations for one-on-one attention, safety focus, and compassion. At the same time, there are recurrent mentions that staff sometimes appear overworked, and a minority of reviews report medication administration issues or instructions not followed—these concerns appear isolated compared with the high volume of positive experiences but are clinically important.

Facility, amenities and environment: Reviewers frequently describe the property as new, attractive, and resort-like. Positive points include spacious and attractive apartments (many with kitchenettes), well-laid-out building design, multiple communal spaces (movie theater, Four Seasons Room), beautiful outdoor gardens and courtyards, good lighting, and a spotless, fresh-smelling environment. Amenities cited include physical therapy/rehab, beauty salon, laundry and housekeeping services, live entertainment, board games, arts and crafts, and pet-friendly policies with staff support for animal care. Special touches such as an aquarium and well-appointed dining rooms are also noted. Several review snippets describe trial furnished rooms and occasional fee waivers or financial assistance as helpful options.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently praised for variety, daily specials, customizable options, and even awards for food service; many reviewers describe the dining rooms as welcoming and homey. However, a few reviewers found the dining not suitable for their particular tastes, and some noted variability in food quality. Activities are numerous and varied—arts and crafts, live music, card games, painting, outdoor events, and family-inclusive activities—creating an active, social environment that many residents enjoy. A handful of reviews note occasional cancellations or rescheduling of activities, and some residents (or relatives) choose not to participate despite available programming.

Management, operations and notable concerns: Most reviewers report positive interactions with management and praise transparency and communication, with management visiting residents and being responsive. Nevertheless, there are serious, isolated negative reports that raise red flags: allegations of a hostile work environment, screaming management, poor treatment of residents by management, instructions to staff that could intimidate residents (CNAs allegedly told to call police), skipped showers/meals, and claims of bribery/solicitations for positive reviews. These are not the majority experience but are strong accusations that prospective residents and families should directly inquire about and verify. Additionally, some reviewers report issues like medications not being administered per instructions or residents not being taken to outside doctor appointments—again, seemingly rare but important to investigate.

Cost, community maturity and other patterns: Several reviewers note that Cedarhurst Farmington is priced higher than some alternatives, but many feel the cost is justified by the level of care and amenities. Multiple comments reflect that the community is relatively new and still 'ironing out kinks' and that the pandemic created some transitional challenges—most reviewers describe those as resolved or being actively addressed. There are mixed signals about the community size: some appreciate the smaller, more personal community while others imply a smaller population may limit certain social options.

Bottom line and recommendations for prospective families: The aggregate picture is of a high-quality, modern senior living community staffed by compassionate, well-regarded caregivers, offering strong memory care, excellent cleanliness, attractive living spaces, varied programming, and solid dining options. The dominant voice in the reviews recommends Cedarhurst Farmington strongly. However, because of the isolated but serious allegations around management behavior, skipped care, and medication concerns reflected in some reviews, prospective residents or families should perform due diligence: ask specific questions about staffing ratios, medication administration protocols, management oversight, incident reporting, and how complaints are handled. Request to meet clinical leadership (several reviewers named the DON and other staff positively), tour during activities, and speak with current residents/families. Verifying contract details, fee structures, and any available financial assistance options is also advised given comments about pricing. When weighed together, the reviews indicate a facility that delivers strong, compassionate care and a high-quality environment for many residents, with a few substantive issues worth confirming directly with the community prior to move-in.
