    Excellent care clean facility activities

I moved my mom here and was impressed by the patient, friendly staff (DON Kitty Bowyer is outstanding), the elegant, clean facility, and the abundant activities - piano, dancing, cards, large TV area, resident kitchen, outdoor spaces - plus varied meals and proximity to the hospital. Care felt high-quality and staff were accommodating and readily available, but communication about health issues and medications was sometimes inconsistent with occasional miscommunication between management and caregivers. Overall I highly recommend this relaxed, well-kept community.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: Reviews of Parkwood Meadows Senior Living are predominantly positive, with multiple reviewers praising the physical environment, the breadth of activities, the quality of care, and the demeanor of staff. The facility is consistently described as beautiful, elegant, clean, and well maintained, producing a relaxed atmosphere that residents and families appreciate. Several reviews specifically name and commend the Director of Nursing (Kitty Bowyer), and multiple reviewers say they would highly recommend the community.

Care quality and staff: A strong theme across the reviews is the caring, patient, and friendly nature of the staff. Reviewers note that staff are accommodating and readily available, and many explicitly tie these attributes to high-quality care. The presence of a committed Director of Nursing is called out as a positive influence on clinical oversight. Comments such as "high-quality care" and "wonderful staff" indicate that hands-on caregiving and clinical attention are strengths of the community.

Facilities and environment: The facility itself receives frequent praise. Descriptors like "beautiful," "elegant decor," "clean," and "well kept" appear repeatedly, suggesting a well-maintained and attractive living environment. Reviewers also emphasize the relaxed atmosphere and the availability of pleasant outdoor spaces. The location’s proximity to a hospital is mentioned as a practical advantage for health needs.

Activities and dining: Parkwood Meadows is noted for offering ample activities and social opportunities. Specific amenities referenced include a piano area, dance area, card games, and a large TV area, along with a resident kitchen—features that support social engagement and a variety of recreational options. Meals receive positive mentions for variety, indicating dining is another component residents and families find satisfactory.

Management and communication concerns: Despite the many positives, a consistent concern raised in multiple summaries relates to communication. Several reviewers report that families were not properly informed about health changes or medication updates, and there are notes about miscommunication between management and caregivers. These lapses appear to be the most significant and recurring negative theme. One review indicates the communication issues contributed to a family choosing to move a resident back to Arizona, illustrating that these problems can lead to loss of resident trust and retention.

Patterns and recommendations: The overall pattern is one of a well-run, attractive community with engaged caregivers and a strong activity program, offset by notable breakdowns in family communication and internal coordination. To reconcile these themes, the facility might focus on improving formal communication protocols—regular health updates to designated family contacts, clearer medication-change notifications, and stronger alignment between management and direct-care staff. Addressing these specific gaps could convert the few negative experiences into uniformly positive ones, given the already high marks for staff attitude, environment, activities, and clinical leadership.

Bottom line: Parkwood Meadows appears to offer a high-quality environment for seniors with many positive attributes: attractive facilities, attentive staff, varied activities, and good clinical oversight. Prospective residents and families should be reassured by the consistent praise for care and environment but should also ask specific questions about communication practices, escalation procedures, and how health and medication changes are relayed to family members to ensure those expectations will be met.

    About Parkwood Meadows Senior Living

Parkwood Meadows Senior Living sits in Sainte Geneviève, MO, and offers a variety of care options, making it one of those places where someone can move in and stay as their needs change, which people sometimes call a continuing care retirement community, and here folks can get independent living, assisted living, memory care, and even skilled nursing services all on one campus, which really can make life simpler as people grow older and need more help. The staff here, known as care partners, stay on site day and night to help with meals, bathing, medication, and other daily tasks, and they offer specialized help for anyone living with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia, with memory care guided by the Best Friends™ Approach, in a secure part of the community with exterior memory care signage to help residents who may get confused. There's a strong focus on making sure everyone feels a sense of belonging, with homey 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, inviting common spaces, concrete patios for fresh air, and floor plans designed with seniors' needs in mind. Residents can bring pets, and the place's accessible features help people with limited mobility. Food matters here and meals get special planning to ensure good nutrition and taste, and staff members have earned praise for friendliness and patience, and the dining team's cooking has won recognition as well. The activity calendar fills up most days with events and social gatherings, so older adults who want to stay busy and engaged have options, and since this is an Americare community, the programs for therapy-physical, occupational, and speech-help folks who may be recovering from illness or surgery. The care options also include respite stays, so families can get a break, plus home health services if someone prefers care in their own apartment. The place stays clean and well-kept, and the team works to support the body, mind, and spirit of every resident, always aiming for people to feel at home, even as their needs change over time.
