Immanuel Living at Buffalo Hill sits in Montana and serves older adults who want support in a safe, vibrant home, where people care about each other and staff always try to help out, and you'll find things like retreat in-room upgrades, green spaces, and supportive spaces for every stage of aging. This place runs as a not-for-profit Life Plan Community connected to Immanuel Lutheran Communities, so it helps out low-income and Medicaid-eligible folks too by raising money and offering dignified care for the whole person. The community gives residents a choice between independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing, alongside memory support in The Lodge for people dealing with Alzheimer's and other dementia, and the Bratsberg Memorial Wing is just for dementia care. There's plenty of help for aging in place-so if someone starts out in independent living, they can get more help over time from things like personal care assistants, housekeeping, bathing help, medication management, and transportation services; there's also short-term rehabilitation at The Retreat, plus hospice and chaplaincy if someone needs those services. People can stay busy here with all sorts of social activities, arts and crafts, group events, support groups, education programs, wellness and exercise, billiards, woodworking, swimming in the heated pool at the Villas, massage clinics, and time in the courtyard or gardens, while others enjoy music, lectures, or sitting in the library or craft room if that's more their style.
You'll see amenities like a general store, gift shop, salon, barbershop, guest parking, WiFi, cable TV, laundry and housekeeping, guest suites, underground parking, and safety additions like sprinkler systems and accessible features. The dining here has several options including restaurant-style spots like the Wooden Nickel Bistro, a full bar, and now there are new things after recent renovations-like the expanded restaurant, a new lobby, espresso bar, and more covered spaces. The Villas at Buffalo Hill have 36 independent apartments, an auditorium for worship and gatherings, and the Buffalo Hill Terrace apartments were made bigger in 2017 to fit more people who want to live on their own but might need some help; that means if someone needs assisted living, they can keep living in their apartment and just get extra care, so folks aren't always moving rooms if they need more help. There's also a plan called The Lofts set to open in 2027 and other choices-The Terraces, The Cottages, and more-so people can pick what fits them best.
Staff focus on the whole person and support all six parts of wellness: physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, and occupational. Residents can join in resident-led groups, volunteer, and committees, and transport is always available for medical appointments or outings since they know people still want to see old friends, run errands, or go out into the world. Immanuel Living pays attention to kindness, respect, and building real relationships, supporting each resident through every stage of retirement, and making sure services are there if someone needs skilled nursing, therapy, memory care, respite care, or day-to-day help. All together, it's a community where people live full lives and find meaning, but each person has space to enjoy both social gatherings and quiet time as they like without pressure.
