    Safe, compassionate staff and community

I live here and feel safe - the staff is exceptional, compassionate and professional, always going above and beyond (Amy is adorable). The community is spotless and well-run in a pretty country setting with activities, music, Friday gatherings, exercise programs and nail care; meals are good most of the time but they need better diabetes/dietary accommodations. There's no central A/C but rooms have A/C and nice cross breezes - I highly recommend this place.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment from the review summaries is strongly positive. Reviewers consistently praise the staff, cleanliness, and management, with several descriptors such as "attentive," "compassionate," "professional," and "highly experienced" appearing across summaries. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend the community and characterize it as exceptionally well run and safe. The tone is one of satisfaction and confidence in the level of care provided.

Care quality and staff stand out as the most prominent strengths. Caregivers are described as "nice," "capable," and willing to go "above and beyond." Management is characterized as caring and responsive, and at least one staff member (Amy) is singled out by name for being friendly and admirable. Reviewers repeatedly note outstanding care and professionalism, indicating a consistent perception that resident needs are met and that staff are both skilled and compassionate.

The facility and grounds receive high marks for cleanliness and upkeep. Multiple comments emphasize that the community is "exceptionally clean," "odor-free," and "well-maintained," with apartments described as not cluttered. The setting is noted as pleasant — a country location with pretty surroundings — which contributes to a positive living environment. Reviewers also describe the facility as "well-run," reinforcing the impression of effective operations and oversight.

Dining and dietary items are generally positive but with some caveats. Several summaries state there are "good meals most of the time," but reviewers also flag a notable gap: the lack of diabetes-friendly menu options and a need for better dietary accommodations. There is a small but clear pattern indicating occasional variability in meal quality. While food is often praised, prospective residents or family members who require specific dietary management (for example, diabetes) should confirm whether customized meal plans or accommodations are available.

Programs, amenities, and daily life are described favorably. The community offers structured activities and exercise programs, music events, Friday gatherings, and personal services such as nail care. Reviewers mention that they or their loved ones "enjoy some activities," suggesting participation opportunities are available and appreciated. Climate control is mixed: there is no central air conditioning, but many rooms have in-room A/C units and windows that allow a cross breeze, which reviewers note as an effective partial mitigation.

In summary, the dominant themes are exceptional staff and caregiving, high cleanliness and maintenance standards, a pleasant physical setting, and a generally positive day-to-day experience for residents. The primary areas to probe further are dietary accommodations for medical needs (notably diabetes) and the lack of central air conditioning — both of which could matter substantially depending on an individual resident's health requirements and comfort preferences. Overall, reviewers strongly recommend The Golden Crest and emphasize that it provides a safe, caring, and well-managed living option.

    About The Golden Crest

The Golden Crest sits on over 13 acres of farmland at 29 Baldwin Street in Franklin, NH, a bit outside of downtown with peaceful views of Mount Cardigan and the Belknap Mountains, and the place itself was built for assisted living in 2001, so everything fits seniors' needs from the start. You'll find 58 apartment suites and a licensed capacity for up to 100 assisted living residents, which means things don't get too crowded, but it's big enough for a real sense of community, and since Evergreen Health Associates of New Hampshire took over back in 2016, the family-oriented culture remains strong even with new ownership. The community offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and respite care, so folks with all sorts of needs can find help here, and there's always 24-hour protective care, with services like medication management, help with bathing and dressing, supervision, and help with moving around, plus on-site podiatry, physical and occupational therapy, diabetic and incontinence care, and nursing staff for residents who need extra support. The place aims for a homelike atmosphere, with both furnished and unfurnished rooms, and since it's fully wheelchair accessible, moving about isn't a problem, and there's support for residents who can't walk or need more hands-on care.

Weekly housekeeping, laundry, and meal services are all included, and the dining program takes care of special diets and food sensitivities, with a professional chef who cooks all-day dining and restaurant-style meals, including diabetes options and allergy-sensitive choices, and family can join dining or visit easily during hours from 8:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. There's a resident activities program with daily schedules, a resident-run activities group, an arts room, spa/wellness area, fitness program, and even a hair salon on-site, plus plenty of opportunities for movie nights, music programs, gardening, and games, and there's a garden, walking paths, a movie theater, game room, library, and lounge, so no shortage of things to do. There's Wi-Fi, high-speed internet, and regular transportation, including rides to doctor's appointments within five miles, and with its location near grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and a hospital, help and errands aren't far off.

The Golden Crest offers virtual tours and has different floor plans and payment options to talk about, and because it's pet-friendly for both cats and dogs, residents don't always have to leave their companions behind. The staff provides move-in help, a concierge, emergency alert systems in apartments, and extra services for memory care, with life enrichment and activity programs tailored for each person's needs, aiming to keep mind, body, and spirit active. The community supports family involvement and tries to understand what motivates each resident, believing that those personal connections make life better for everyone living there.
