    Gorgeous campus, excellent activities, variable-care

I live here and love the gorgeous Keene-countryside campus - beautiful apartments, gardens, trails and a peaceful meadow - with endless activities, a superb fitness program and delicious, well-prepared meals. Staff are often wonderful, caring and professional, residents are friendly, and strict COVID/health protocols made me feel safe. My only caveat: staffing quality is inconsistent (especially in memory care), and management can seem money-focused, which has been disappointing. Overall it's an exceptional, comfortable place to live but expect variability in higher-level care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment: The reviews for Covenant Living of Keene are predominantly positive, emphasizing a well-appointed, active, and scenic senior living community with strong food offerings and an engaged resident population. Multiple reviewers highlight beautiful, spacious apartments and suites with modern finishes (stainless steel appliances, granite counters, tile floors, screened balconies/porches) and excellent views over meadows and trails. The campus itself receives steady praise for its gardens, greenhouse, woodworking shop, well-maintained walking and hiking trails, courtyard spaces, and an inviting pool area — all contributing to a peaceful, country-club-like atmosphere that many residents and visitors find appealing.

Staff and care quality: A recurring theme is praise for the staff: described as kind, caring, professional, patient, skilled, and compassionate. Several reviewers explicitly singled out memory care staff as attentive and humane, and many residents report feeling supported and safe — particularly during COVID-19 when strict protocols, good communication, and gradual reopening were noted. However, there is an important counterpoint: a noticeable minority of reviews raise serious concerns about staff inconsistency, especially in the assisted living/memory care nursing layer. These negative reports use strong language (for example, describing nursing staff as 'lazy' or reluctant to perform physical care tasks) and explicitly discourage placement of family members in certain care-level settings. There are also comments alleging management problems and a focus on financial priorities, suggesting variability in administrative responsiveness and quality control across shifts or departments.

Facilities, amenities, and activities: Reviews consistently celebrate the breadth of amenities and programming. Organized offerings include exercise classes, singing groups, classical music, concerts, bridge, movies, and a mix of in-person and Zoom activities — all supporting a highly active social calendar. Wellness resources (a robust fitness center, pool, and on-site massage) and social supports (dining partner seating, faith services) are frequently praised. Dining is a standout feature in many accounts: food is described as fresh, delicious, well-prepared, and elegantly served — with occasional mention of friendly servers from the local community (high school and college students). These programmatic and lifestyle details contribute to a strong sense of belonging for many residents and to repeated comments that moving here was "the right move." Several reviewers also note convenience factors like an on-site garage and a location that is family-friendly.

Management, costs, and administrative issues: Pricing and administration show mixed signals. At least one review explicitly contrasts a reported monthly cost of $6,500 with a local norm of $12,000, framing Covenant Living of Keene as competitively priced. Conversely, other reviewers call the community "expensive," indicating that perceptions of value vary by reviewer and possibly by care level or contract specifics. Administrative shortcomings surface in a few reviews: junk mail, misaddressed or outdated information (including a grave misaddressing involving a deceased relative), and general data or privacy oversights were reported. These kinds of errors, while not widespread in the dataset, are concrete and concerning to affected reviewers and add to the larger pattern of mixed administrative experiences. Additionally, some reviewers perceive money-focused management or inconsistent operational leadership.

Patterns and takeaways: The dominant pattern is a highly positive day-to-day living experience for many residents — excellent dining, abundant activities, attractive living spaces, strong cosmetic upkeep, and a warm, engaged community. COVID-19 response and communication are also seen as strengths. The main areas requiring caution are variability and inconsistency: staffing quality and responsiveness (particularly in certain care levels), occasional management concerns, and isolated administrative/privacy errors. These negative reports are less numerous but significant in tone and content, particularly for families evaluating assisted living or memory care placement.

Conclusion: Covenant Living of Keene appears to offer a well-resourced, active, and attractive campus with many satisfied residents who enjoy the food, programs, scenery, and many amenities. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against the reported variability in staffing and administration. Given the mixed reports about assisted living/memory care and management concerns, it would be prudent for interested parties to ask direct, specific questions about staffing ratios, nurse responsiveness, turnover, management responsiveness, privacy/data handling procedures, and contract terms during tours and meetings to confirm consistency and fit for the needed level of care.

    About Covenant Living of Keene

Covenant Living of Keene sits near Keene, NH, offering independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing so people can find care that fits what they need, and the community has a big 62-acre campus with modern buildings and lovely landscaping, and there's a walking path across the meadow where folks stroll or just sit and watch the birds. The apartments have names like Avalon, Franklin, Lafayette, Whittier, Hale, Cabot, Cannon, Madison, and Hancock, each with different sizes and layouts, so a person might see a one-bedroom at 672 square feet or a large house-sized unit at 1,714 square feet, and these places have things like full kitchens, washer and dryer, screened balconies, some with dens, wood floors, walk-in closets, and lots of windows that bring in the sun. The Prospect-Woodward Assisted Living neighborhood has 43 private suites, each with its own bathroom, shower, living room, kitchenette, and some pleasant views with natural light, and people feel safe knowing they can get help with daily things like bathing, dressing, or medications from an experienced care staff who work together and talk often with families.

Housekeeping and maintenance get done for them, so folks don't have to worry about chores anymore, and three meals a day come from a chef and team who use fresh local foods, and residents eat with others in a bright dining area. There's a beauty salon, spa tubs, cozy seating near fireplaces, a big indoor pool for aqua exercises, a fitness program, and activities like lectures, movie nights in a theater with nice chairs, music groups, and spring or summer gardening beds where people can grow flowers or herbs. Some enjoy cocktail parties, chorus singing, and live performances, and there are educational talks and dine-in luncheons to keep the days interesting, and open houses bring everyone together now and then, so it helps people to feel part of a lively community that values being busy in body and mind. Covenant Living of Keene gives access to rehabilitation and therapy through HealthPRO Heritage, so residents can get physical, occupational, and speech therapies right on campus, and there are programs like SAIDO Learning for memory support too, along with caregiver support groups, psychiatric care, and even support from Valley Cares Inc. for affordable housing and home care services.

There's more than one type of floor plan, covering independent living, assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing so a person can move in and find what they need as time goes on, and respite care gives a break to caregivers now and then, either for assisted living or skilled nursing. The buildings look modern and have comfortable furniture, big community areas, courtyards to enjoy the outside, and both residents and their families say the staff stay caring and careful during tough times like Covid, keeping everyone informed with clear communication. Folks who live here often say they feel secure and cared for, surrounded by a community of people who like to do, think, plan, and help, and since things like support with errands, health, and fun are all handled, people can simply enjoy retirement at their own pace.
