    Warm attentive care and amenities

I moved my father here and we couldn't be happier. The building is immaculate and homey, staff are warm, professional and attentive (24-hour nursing, meds on time), and they really spend time with residents - hugs, smiles and family-style care. Meals are made from scratch with choices and an excellent dining team; housekeeping, laundry, beauty parlor and transportation to appointments are included. There are engaging activities every day, strong social life and a cozy, small-community feel. Rooms vary: some are large with private baths, others are smaller with shared bathrooms and no kitchen - and the price could be lower for those units. Overall very welcoming and caring.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across reviews of Evergreen Place is strongly positive, with repeatedly emphasized strengths in staff quality, cleanliness, dining, and social programming. Reviewers consistently describe the staff as attentive, caring and professional — staff members are noted for treating residents like family, being welcoming, spending time with residents, and administering medications on time. Clinical support appears robust: medication management and 24-hour nursing presence are specifically mentioned, which supports a perception of dependable medical oversight for residents with ongoing care needs.

The facility presents a homelike, cozy environment with a small, community feel. Multiple reviewers highlight a family-inclusive atmosphere where residents laugh, engage with staff, and enjoy personalized attention. As a small, nonprofit facility with roughly twenty residents in some accounts, Evergreen Place seems to foster close relationships between staff, residents and families. Office staff are described as friendly and consistently willing to help, and the home is reportedly recommended by professionals, lending credibility to its reputation.

Physical facilities and housekeeping earn frequent praise: the building is called immaculate, warm and welcoming, and several reviews remark that it is well-maintained and spotless. While the building is not uniformly described as brand-new, some rooms have been updated and many apartments are described as spacious — with specific mentions of larger units that include a living room, separate bedroom and full private bath. Housekeeping and laundry are included in services, supporting ease of living for residents and families.

Dining and food quality stand out as a key strength. Multiple reviewers highlight meals made from scratch, an excellent kitchen, and several dinner choices (one note cites five dinner choices). Dining staff are described as attentive, and meals are served three times daily with snacks available. Reviewers use adjectives like delicious and top-notch, and the dining experience is framed as both nutritious and enjoyable. The presence of an on-site beauty parlor/hairdresser and other amenities further contributes to resident comfort and routine.

Social programming and activities are robust and recurring. The reviews list a wide variety of activities offered seven days a week, including bingo, arts and crafts, puzzles, in-house music and singing, outings, luncheons, entertainment, and outdoor barbecues. Organized transportation (a bus) for outings and doctor appointments is repeatedly noted, and residents are reported to be actively engaged and to enjoy a strong social life. These programmatic strengths align with the small, community-oriented character of the facility and appear to be a major draw for families seeking an engaged lifestyle for loved ones.

Despite the many positives, several consistent concerns appear in the reviews and merit attention. A prominent and recurring issue is the absence of in-room kitchens or private cooking facilities; reviewers explicitly note that many units do not include a kitchen, which affects perceived value for some prospective residents who expect independent cooking options. Relatedly, while many apartments are large and include private bathrooms, others lack private baths and have shared bathrooms, or some units are described as smaller — indicating variability in unit types and amenities. Several reviewers mention that, given the lack of kitchens or private cooking, the price could be lower; pricing receives mixed feedback with some calling the facility affordable and others saying it is not competitively priced.

Additional practical considerations include the facility’s small size and limited capacity (around 20 residents in some comments), which can be a benefit for personalized care but also might limit availability. A few reviewers characterize the activity room as basic, and the building is occasionally described as not new (though updated in places), which may matter to families prioritizing modern facilities. Overall, the primary trade-offs are between the high-quality, personalized care and social environment versus limited in-room amenities (no kitchens, variable private-bath availability) and mixed perceptions of cost.

In summary, Evergreen Place is consistently presented as a clean, warm, small-scale senior living community with strong caregiving, excellent dining, and active social programming. It appears particularly well suited to residents who value attentive staff, dependable nursing oversight, included services (housekeeping, laundry, transportation) and a family-like atmosphere. Prospective residents and families should clarify unit types and bathroom configurations, confirm pricing and payment transitions (private-pay to Medicaid), and assess whether the absence of in-room cooking aligns with their needs. For those prioritizing community, hands-on staff engagement and high-quality meals, Evergreen Place receives strong endorsement; for those seeking full independent-living amenities like private kitchens, it may be less ideal or warrant cost negotiation.

    About Evergreen Place

Evergreen Place sits in Manchester's North End and has stood in the community since 1904, making it one of the older and more established senior living homes around, and over the years it's seen a lot, with additions like four-story wings and solariums to make room for more people while keeping a homey feel, and you'll notice it has a small, close-knit family atmosphere, where the compassionate staff, some of whom go by names like Jasmine Gosselin as Administrator, Natalie Gagnon as Bookkeeper, and Shannon Croteau as Business Office/HR Manager, know residents by name and work together to keep everything running smoothly. This place has a strong history with the Order of Masons, starting out to give care to widows, orphans of Masons, and later to Masons themselves and their loved ones, but nowadays everyone from the community can live here, and the nonprofit status means the focus stays on residents instead of profit.

With 52 beds, Evergreen Place offers a mix of housing, from studio apartments and single rooms to semi-private and two-bedroom units, all arranged to suit different needs and make things easier for everybody, and the all-inclusive pricing means meals, housekeeping, maintenance, transportation, laundry, and utilities are included, which simplifies life. The landscaped outdoor patios and gardens give residents a nice spot to enjoy some fresh air or chat with visitors, and there are indoor spaces like the library, parlor, and an on-site barber for haircuts, so daily tasks and some comforts are close at hand.

The care team here is available all day and night and includes licensed staff, skilled nurses, and therapists-so residents are able to get physical therapy, occupational therapy, medication management, and help with daily activities as needed, which seems to cover the basics whether someone needs retirement care, assisted living, nursing care, Alzheimer's and memory care, or even independent living options. Evergreen Place also has short-term respite care for up to 21 days, so families who need extra help can rely on that too.

Meals are home-cooked and nutritious, with menus built to please a wide range of tastes, and the memory care covers basic needs so folks with Alzheimer's or other conditions get support. Evergreen Place also hosts in-house religious services, regular social events, outings, and activities, so residents can stay as engaged as they like, and the free transportation brings residents to offsite events or appointments when needed.

Pets are allowed under certain conditions, which brings comfort to those who want animal companionship, and the facility handles linen and clothes laundry plus dry cleaning on-site, so families don't have to worry. Evergreen Place is licensed by the state, supported by a nonprofit foundation, and offers supported assisted living as well as a continuing care retirement resource-it's built around values like respect, love, relief, and charity, and everything about the place from the home-cooked meals to the attentive care and scheduled activities seems to reflect that.
