    Warm professional care spotless community

My mother moved in and I feel real peace of mind - the staff are professional, warm and genuinely attentive, with 24/7 nursing and on-site, privately-owned management who communicate clearly. The community is spotless and beautifully appointed, with lovely grounds, walking paths, a cafe/restaurant, spa and gym, and plenty of engaging activities that keep residents social and happy. They treated my mom like family, helped her regain strength, and made her very comfortable. I highly recommend this family-focused facility.

    Summary of reviews

Victoria Mews presents as a small, privately owned assisted living community with many strengths centered on individualized attention and a well-kept, hotel-like environment. Families frequently describe warm, welcoming front‑line staff and nursing teams, with on-site clinician-owners (RNs and physicians) who are visible and involved. The facility emphasizes 24-hour nursing coverage and on-site medical oversight, which many families cite as reassuring. Housekeeping and maintenance are described as prompt, and the grounds and common areas are consistently characterized as clean, bright, and pleasant.

Dining and amenities are prominent positives: the community offers café-style dining with multiple menu choices, private dining/banquet space for family gatherings, and ancillary amenities such as a spa/gym and rehabilitation/exercise programs. Activity offerings are broad and frequent — bingo, movies, church services, outdoor barbecues, and other social events — contributing to a sense of engagement and community. The smaller community size (roughly 70 residents in several descriptions) appears to support familiarity between staff and residents and a family-like atmosphere.

There are several operational concerns prospective families should evaluate. The facility charges a premium price point and does not accept all public payers, which has created financial strain for some families; affordability and contract terms merit careful review. Multiple accounts raise concerns about the facility’s capacity to manage advanced dementia care: these include descriptions of difficulty managing complex cognitive-behavioral needs and at least one account suggesting the facility was unable to continue care after an acute episode. These descriptions have been characterized by some as overstating dementia-care capability, and families should confirm clinical limits and transition plans in writing.

Other recurring themes relate to service consistency. While many reviewers praise attentive care, there are mentions of occasional lapses in staff responsiveness, pain management, and meal-service consistency (including food temperature and perceived blandness). Apartment sizes are described as modest, and the rural location may be less convenient for some families. Prospective residents and families should tour the community, ask detailed questions about dementia-care protocols and acute-episode policies (transfer and readmission), verify payer acceptance and long-term cost projections, and sample the dining and activity programs to ensure fit with their needs and expectations.

    About Victoria Mews Assisted Living

Victoria Mews Assisted Living sits on ten peaceful acres at 51 North Main Street in Boonton, New Jersey, where the scenery looks nice and folks can enjoy pretty gardens, a koi pond, and walking paths set aside for safe outdoor activities, with Main Street's shops and places to eat nearby if anyone feels like taking a short trip out. The place has a Victorian-style design, and inside you'll find private apartments, like traditional studios, 1-bedroom choices, and even luxury 2-bedroom suites, and there's plenty of space for everyone to gather for a chat, a meal, or an activity together, since there are spots where folks can socialize or just sit and relax. Staff stay on the property around the clock to help residents with daily things, like getting dressed or bathing, and you can count on six nurses being around for most of the day, with someone always on call, making sure each person gets support when it's needed. There are two secure wings on the main floor, where the layout makes it a little easier to get around and keeps it safe for those who need extra care, especially if someone has memory trouble or needs more help, and the rooms there feel inviting, simple, and dignified. Folks can enjoy daily housekeeping, restaurant-style dining, and a full calendar of activities like arts and crafts, music, outings, and outdoor events, plus special wellness programs and a place to see a doctor or go to therapy right on site, with the wellness center there to keep an eye on everyone's health. Victoria Mews offers regular assisted living, memory care for people with Alzheimer's or dementia, short stays for respite, and even some moderate income housing, and they use a unique program called Connections that brings therapies like aroma, pet, music, and art into daily life to boost everyone's mood and comfort. The place is built to lift spirits and give peace of mind, aiming to keep people as active, safe, and social as they want, all in an environment that's friendly and supportive, and there's a strong focus on making sure every resident feels respected and cared for.
