Voorhees Pediatric Facility, located at 1304 Laurel Oak Road in Voorhees, New Jersey, is a nursing facility for children from birth to age 21 who have special nursing care needs. The facility serves kids who are medically fragile or need technology to help them live, such as tracheostomies or ventilators, and cares for many different conditions, including critical airways, seizure disorders, neuromuscular diseases, chromosomal issues, traumatic injuries, orthopedic problems, craniofacial anomalies, spica cast management, wound care, and IV therapy. There are 119 in-patient beds, making this place one of the country's largest for pediatric ventilator programs, and the staff focuses on providing a safe, comfortable setting with high nursing care.
School-aged children go to The Bancroft School at VPF, which is found within the building, and that program works with students ages 3 to 21, including those who are very fragile and rely on medical technology, and the classrooms are specially designed to fit medical needs and devices, so young people can learn while being cared for. This is the first New Jersey Department of Education-approved private school located inside a pediatric care center, which is a unique partnership between Bancroft and Voorhees Pediatric Facility. The staff includes Principal Colleen Valentino, who makes sure the services run smoothly. Parents have different ways to keep in touch-phone, Parent Portal, teacher email-and get alerts on school closings by text, call, or email. The Parent Portal lets parents see progress reports, IEPs, school calendars, lunch menus, and contact staff, so they're kept in the loop.
There's a focus on teamwork between the children, their families, and the health care team, and the care plan is made with family choices in mind, while respecting each family's cultural, racial, and economic background. The staff works hard to make the place feel home-like, using a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach for the child's medical, educational, social, and emotional needs, and always looking for new ways to use technology or ideas to overcome challenges. There's a range of pediatric health services-Nursing, Pediatric Respiratory, Medical Day Care, Medical Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Rehabilitation, and Social Work-so the care is as complete as possible, and the facility stays connected with the Health Care Association of New Jersey. The branding includes "forkidcare.com." The Voorhees Pediatric Facility lies about 15 minutes from Philadelphia's city area, giving it access to top-rated hospitals and specialists. The building is modern, clean, and carefully set up to support children with complex needs, and the center has a strong national reputation for specialized care.
