    Loving spotless homelike dementia care

My mom moved into Ave Care and I couldn't be more grateful - a small, spotless, homelike place with owners often present and loving, well-trained staff who specialize in dementia/Alzheimer's care. Meals from the open kitchen are generally good (sometimes a bit starchy), activities like bowling, bingo and scrabble keep residents engaged (more activities would be nice), though bathrooms are shared and there's no on-site hairdresser. Close to family, excellent value, and after a poor prior facility my mom's last months felt like heaven on earth - I highly recommend Ave Care.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment across the reviews for Ave Care At Newton Inc. is strongly positive. Multiple reviewers emphasize a dramatic improvement in care compared with previous placements, describing the experience as loving, attentive and, in one phrasing, feeling like "heaven on earth" during final months. The facility is repeatedly described as new, bright, homelike and spotless. Reviewers highlight the small size as an asset that enables personalized attention, close relationships between staff and residents, and a family-like environment where the owner often appears to be involved and accessible.

Care quality and staff emerge as the most consistently praised elements. Reviews repeatedly note that staff are caring, well-trained and attentive; family members report that their loved ones are safe, happy and well cared for. The dementia and Alzheimer’s experience of the facility is called out positively, with several reviewers specifically recommending Ave Care for those needs. Staff responsiveness, kindness and the feeling of staff treating residents like extended family are recurring themes. The owner’s presence and hands-on involvement further reinforces reviewers’ confidence in management and day-to-day operations.

Facility features and location are likewise strengths in the reviews. The building and rooms are described as beautiful, bright and home-like; the small size facilitates close family visits and makes the location convenient for relatives. Cleanliness and overall upkeep are highlighted repeatedly, and multiple reviewers call the facility "spotless" or "well kept." The open-kitchen concept and homelike meal setting are noted as positive aspects that contribute to a welcoming environment.

Dining and activities receive generally favorable but slightly more mixed remarks. Many reviewers compliment the food and homelike meals, and activities such as bowling, bingo and scrabble are mentioned as regular programming. Reviewers also appreciate opportunities for residents to help in the kitchen, which supports engagement. However, a few comments call the meals "starchy" or mixed in quality, and several reviewers asked for a broader or more frequent range of activities, indicating room for enhancement in programming variety and stimulation.

A few logistical and amenity concerns appear in multiple summaries. Some rooms do not have private in-room bathrooms, which a few reviewers noted as a downside. Reviewers also mentioned the lack of an on-site hairdresser, suggesting a service gap. While most reviewers view the small size as an advantage, it could imply limited on-site amenities compared with larger facilities—this is not stated explicitly but is a reasonable inference based on comments about missing services.

In sum, the dominant pattern is of a small, new, clean facility with highly praised, attentive staff that provides personalized care—especially for residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s—at a reasonable price. Families appreciate the warm, home-like atmosphere and frequent owner involvement. The main areas to address, based on reviewer feedback, are expanding or diversifying activity offerings, improving consistency or variety in meals, and adding certain conveniences such as an on-site hairdresser and more private bathroom options. Overall, reviewers highly recommend Ave Care At Newton Inc., citing strong value and a noticeably improved experience compared with prior placements.

About Ave Care At Newton Inc.

Ave Care At Newton Inc. sits at 85 Trinity Street in Newton, New Jersey, and used to offer a quiet, family-style place for seniors who need some help as well as those who can live on their own but wanted some support in a smaller, calm environment, and while it's closed as of July 2022, there's still quite a bit to know about how they tried to make life easier for people, especially those with Alzheimer's or other memory problems, in a building with easy access to parks and stores and hospitals nearby. Residents here could get help with daily tasks like dressing, bathing, and medication management, and the staff paid close attention to each person's needs whether for independent living, assisted living, or memory care-and for those dealing with diabetes or incontinence, there were special care plans too. Meals got served right in the community, and folks could enjoy outdoor and indoor areas, as well as on-site activities and some off-site events, with beautician services and things like tubs you could step into easily and wheelchair showers for better comfort, plus transportation at cost and parking so people could still get out and about if they wanted. There's a focus on keeping things tidy and routines simple, creating a steady environment for anyone who tends to become confused or wander off, and you'd find a good mix of social, educational, and entertainment events to help people stay active and connected. You could get floor plans and information about how to pay if you reached out in the past. Ave Care At Newton Inc. also had a listing with a 5.0 review score, but remember, details about exactly what amenities or services are offered right now aren't available since the community closed.
