    Compassionate staff but management failed

I was disappointed that management/ownership acted unprofessionally and gave no notice - a clear violation of state law. That said, the caregiving staff (and even some owners) were compassionate, patient, communicative and thorough; the facility is clean and home-like, and I'm deeply grateful and highly recommend the staff for their unparalleled kindness, though I cannot endorse how ownership handled notice.

    Summary review

Overall sentiment in the reviews is strongly positive about frontline caregiving and the physical environment, but there is a clear and repeated concern about management and administrative practices. Multiple reviewers emphasize the quality of hands-on care: staff are described as compassionate, patient, kind, communicative and thorough. The owner and caregiving team receive specific praise for going above and beyond and providing accommodating, family-like care. Several summaries state families are grateful and highly recommend the home, using terms such as "best care home," "exceptional kindness," and "unparalleled care and compassion." The facility itself is noted as clean and home-like, reinforcing the impression of a residential, family-oriented atmosphere rather than an institutional setting.

Care quality and staff behavior emerge as the strongest and most consistent positive themes. Reviewers repeatedly highlight interpersonal qualities — patience, warmth, clear communication — and practical attention to residents' needs. Phrases like "communicative staff," "thorough staff," and "accommodating staff" point to caregivers who both perform required tasks and keep families informed. The owner’s personal involvement and willingness to go beyond typical expectations is cited multiple times, suggesting leadership at the point of care that contributes directly to positive experiences.

Facility and atmosphere receive favorable mention but with less detail. The descriptors in the reviews emphasize cleanliness and a home-like environment, and the recurring characterization of "family-like care" suggests a smaller, more personalized setting. There is no substantive information in the summaries about dining, activities, medical/nursing services beyond general care, or specialized programs, so those areas remain unassessed in these comments. Prospective families should note that positive remarks focus primarily on relational and environmental qualities rather than on a broad menu of services.

The principal negative theme concerns management and administrative conduct. Multiple summaries call out "unprofessional management/ownership" and specifically mention a failure to give required notice, with one reviewer asserting this was a violation of state law. These comments indicate an administrative or policy-level issue distinct from the praised caregiving staff. That split — excellent frontline staff combined with concerns about ownership or management practices — is the key tension in the reviews. A small number of reviewers also use hedging language such as "not necessarily terrible" or "not impressed," which suggests some variability in experience or expectations.

Taken together, the pattern is one of overwhelmingly positive direct care experiences tempered by notable administrative concerns. The caregiver team and the owner are repeatedly credited for compassion and responsiveness; families commonly express gratitude and willingness to recommend the home. At the same time, at least one reviewer reports an incident or practice serious enough to raise legal and professional concerns (failure to provide notice). This produces an important caveat for anyone evaluating the facility: while day-to-day care and atmosphere appear strong, potential residents and families should specifically inquire about policies, written procedures, and management responsiveness before committing.

In summary, Crane's Roost Care Home is portrayed in these reviews as a clean, home-like setting with exceptionally compassionate and communicative staff who provide family-style, attentive care. The primary risk flagged by reviewers is unprofessionalism at the management/ownership level, including an allegation about failure to provide legally required notice. The most balanced interpretation of these summaries is that caregiving is a clear strength of the home, but administrative practices may be inconsistent or problematic, and further due diligence around policies and management conduct is advised for prospective residents and their families.

    About Crane's Roost Care Home

Crane's Roost Care Home sits in a quiet neighborhood in Aztec, New Mexico, where it's been serving local seniors since 1999, so there's some history behind the place and folks tend to know it in the area. The care home has 15 licensed beds and keeps things at a medium size, which means staff can focus on the residents and really get to know them. The home is licensed and meets state safety and health standards, with regular inspections to make sure everything's up to snuff. Everyone who lives here gets three home-cooked meals a day, with snacks, plus housekeeping, laundry, and help with personal needs like bathing, hygiene, and getting around. Caregivers help with daily tasks, and the team is always around, with 24-hour nurse staff and access to medical help as needed. There's also monthly wellness checks for every resident, and medication is managed closely with careful records and reminders.

Residents can choose from a few studio-style room layouts, and each has private touches like a sink, mirror, and medicine cabinet. Utilities and cable TV are included, so nobody has to fuss with extra bills, and there's always a welcoming space for family or friends to visit or gather for meals. The home has large dining rooms and shared areas for relaxing, plus two outdoor patios-one shaded and another with a privacy lattice and small fence-where folks can get fresh air. Activities fill the week, with music therapy, pet therapy, exercise for wellness, and trips out for shopping or visits to church, and there's always effort made to bring people together and cut down on any feelings of loneliness.

Crane's Roost offers assisted living for those who want some independence but need help with daily life, memory care for folks with Alzheimer's or dementia, skilled nursing, and home care options. Hospice services are coordinated with local agencies, and respite care is available when primary caregivers need a break. The team works with each resident to make a personalized care plan after a thorough assessment, and they can help coordinate things like speech or physical therapy, even hairdressing and nail service to help folks look and feel their best. Secured entry and supervised care help keep everyone safe, and the staff-to-senior ratio is kept in line with licensing standards, meaning seniors get the attention they need.

The location helps as well, with places like CBOC Farmington and San Juan Regional Medical Center close by, along with restaurants, a golf course, and places of worship. It's a well-established place with a reputation for steady, careful attention, and it welcomes spiritual care providers to help support residents' emotional needs, so everyone can be comfortable in body and spirit. Most people in the community rate it a 7 out of 10, and the reviews use a scoring system that helps families get a clear idea before making a choice. Payment options and floor plans are available, and all the basic conveniences are rolled in to keep life simple for everyone living there.
